Unit 6 part B - translation practice 1. Justin pomalu otevřel oči. Byl na posteli v divné místnosti. Postel byla velmi tvrdá.
Justin opened his eyes slowly. He was on a bed in a strange room. The bed was very hard.
2. Chelsea tam byla také. Byla velmi smutná. „Jsi v pořádku?“ zeptala se tiše.
Chelsea was there, too. She was very sad. ‘Are you all right?’ she asked quietly.
3. „Na tom nezáleží. Oba tady zemřete.“ Byla to Justinova stará nepřítelkyně, Dr. X.
‘It doesn’t matter. You’re both going to die here.’ It was Justin’s old enemy, Dr X.
4. Hrozně se zasmála. „Mám teď počítač. Tak na shledanou pane Time.“
She laughed horribly. ‘I’ve got the computer now. So goodbye, Mr Time.’
5. Dr. X odešla z místnosti a hlídač zamkl dveře. „Musíme ji zastavit.“ řekl Justin.
Dr X left the room and the guard locked the door. ‘We must stop her,’ said Justin.
6. „S tímto počítačem může ovládat všechny satelity na světě.“
‘With that computer she can control all the world’s satellites.’
7. „Myslím, že můžeme snadno utéct,“ zašeptala Chelsea. „Ten hlídač je velmi pomalý. Poslouchej.“
‘I think we can escape easily,’ whispered Chelsea. ‘That guard is very slow. Listen.’
8. „To je dobrý nápad,“ řekl Justin. Pak velmi hlasitě zakřičel. „Ach, moje břicho! Pomoc! Pomoc!“
‘That’s a good idea,’ said Justin. Then he shouted very loudly. ‘Oh, my stomach! Help! Help!’
9. Hlídač vběhl do místnosti. „Co je to tu za příšerný hluk?“ zeptal se.
The guard rushed into the room. ‘What’s all that horrible noise?’ he said.
10. Chelsea byla u dveří. Přehodila přikrývku přes hlavu hlídače, zatímco Justin rychle sebral klíče z jeho pásu.
Chelsea was by the door. She threw the blanket over the guard’s head, while Justin quickly grabbed the keys from the guard’s belt.
11. Hlídače zamkli v místnosti a běželi ven. „To jsi zvládla velmi dobře,“ řekl Justin. „Ale to bylo jednoduché,“ řekla Chelsea.
They locked the guard in the room and ran outside. ‘You did that very well,’ said Justin. ‘Oh, it was easy,’ said Chelsea.
12. „Dobře, můžeš také rychle utíkat?“ řekl, a pak běželi do přístavu.
‘Well, can you run fast, too?’ he said, and they ran to the harbour.
13. „Podívej,“ řekl Justin. „To je člun Dr. X. Chystá se odvézt počítač na svůj tajný ostrov. Pojď.“
‘Look,’ said Justin. ‘That’s Dr X’s boat. She’s going to take the computer to her secret island. Come on.’

They got into the boat and hid behind the seats. Soon Dr X arrived.
15. Opatrně dala kufřík na sedadlo a nastartovala motor.
She carefully put a briefcase on the seat and started the engine.
16. Člun byl velmi rychlý. Když byli blízko ostrova, otevřela Dr. X kufřík.
The boat was very fast. When they were near the island, Dr X opened the briefcase.
17. „S tímto počítačem ovládnu svět,“ řekla. Náhle Justin vyskočil a vzal kufřík.
‘With this computer I’m going to control the world,’ she said. Suddenly Justin jumped up and took the briefcase.
18. „Dej mi to,“ řekla Dr. X. Popadla kufřík a silně zatáhla.
‘Give that to me,’ said Dr X. She grabbed the briefcase and pulled hard.
19. Ale kufřík byl otevřený a počítač spadl do vody.
But the briefcase was open and the computer fell into the water.
20. „Neskočíš tam a nevezmeš si to Dr. X?“ zeptal se Justin.
‘Aren’t you going to jump in and get it, Dr X?’ asked Justin.
21. „Neumím plavat!“ řekla smutně, zatímco počítač se pomalu potápěl na dno moře.
‘I can’t swim!’ she said sadly, as the computer slowly sank to the bottom of the sea.
22. „Svět je teď opět v bezpečí,“ řekl Justin. Zatímco sledovat Dr. X, Chelsea odvezla člun bezpečně do přístavu.
‘The world is safe again now,’ said Justin. While he watched Dr X, Chelsea took the boat safely back to the harbour.

The guard moved very slowly, so when Chelsea threw the blanket over his head, Justin could quickly grab the keys.
32. Dr. X je strašlivá žena. Chce ovládat všechny satelity na zemi.
Dr X is a horrible woman. She wants to control all the world’s satellites.
33. Chelsea mluvila potichu. Řekla Justinovi svůj plán, jak snadno utéct.
Chelsea spoke quietly. She told Justin her plan how to escape easily.
34. Rychle běželi do přístavu. Motor člunu velmi hlasitě hlučel.
They ran to the harbour quickly. The engines of the boat made a very loud noise.
35. Dr. X opatrně otevřela kufřík. Pak Justin kufřík náhle sebral.
Dr X open the briefcase carefully. Then Justin grabbed the briefcase suddenly.
36. Velmi silně do Justina strčila, ale nemohla mu nic udělat. „Jsme teď v bezpečí,“ řekl šťastně Justin.
She pushed Justin very hard, but she couldn’t do anything to him. ‘We’re safe now,’ said Justin happily.
37. Chelsea uměla dobře plavat, ale Dr. X neuměla vůbec plavat, proto nemohla dostat počítač z moře.
Chelsea can swim very well, but Dr X can’t swim at all, so she couldn’t get the computer from the sea.
38. „Umím dobře mluvit anglicky a dokážu také rychle psát,“ řekla hlasitě Alice.
“I can speak English well and I can write fast too,” said Alice loudly.
39. Dokážu snadno přeplavat jezero, ale musím to udělat pomalu, protože to chci udělat tiše.
I can easily swim across the lake, but I must do it slowly, because I want to do it quietly.

Joanna can run very fast. She is a fast runner the fastest in our class.
48. Náhle se ozval hluk. Petr rozbil oblíbenou vázu mé mamky. Měli jsme problém.
Suddenly, there was a noise. Petr broke my mother’s favourite vase. We were in trouble.
49. Nehraji hudbu velmi hlasitě. Nemám rád hlasitou hudbu. Bolí mě z toho hlava.
I don’t play music very loudly. I don’t like loud music. It gives me headaches.
50. Pojď si zaplavat! Voda je velmi teplá. Bude se ti to líbit. Jsem si tím jistý.
Come and swim! The water is very warm. You will like it. I know you will.
51. Prosím, buďte potichu. Děti píší velmi obtížný test.
Please be quiet. The children are writing a very difficult test.
52. Zaslechl jsem hlasitý hluk. Krokodýl pomalu otevřel tlamu a pak ji znovu velmi rychle zavřel.
I heard a loud noise. The crocodile opened its mouth slowly and then shut it again very quickly.
53. Ach jo. Ten test se mi vůbec nepodařil. Teď ho budu muset psát znovu.
Oh dear. I did very badly in my test. Now I will have to take it again.
54. „Umíš tancovat?“ „Ano, ale ne moc dobře. Nedaří se mi tancovat do rytmu s hudbou.“
“Can you dance?” “Yes, but not very well. I can’t dance in time with the music.”
55. Hraje krásně na klavír. Každý den procvičuje dvě hodiny.
She plays the piano beautifully. She practises every day for two hours.
56. Ten film je tak hrozný! Nechci se na něj dívat. Nechápu, jak to můžeš vydržet.
This film is so horrible! I don’t want to watch it. I don’t understand how you can stand it.
57. Má taška je velmi težká. Neunesu ji. Pomůžeš mi, prosím?
My bag is very heavy. I can’t carry it. Will you, please, help me?
58. Toto cvičení je lehké. Bez problémů jsem všechny odpovědi napsal správně.
This exercise is easy. I didn’t any trouble getting all the answers right.
