School Newsletter 2016 Term 3 No. 1
It has been lovely returning to the island after such a long break away. I look forward to catching up with everyone over the next few weeks. Staffing I’m happy to confirm that Larissa Powell is the recommended applicant for the Deputy Principal position WI. Mrs Powell is currently level 3 Head of Learning Area (Science) at Mirrabooka Senior High School. This is a multicultural school with a large proportion of English as Addition Language/Dialect (EALD) students. She is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, Whole School Literacy and Numeracy Committee, Health and Well-being Committee and Curriculum Planning and Direction Committee. Mrs Powell is very excited about returning to Cocos Island DHS term 4. Literacy/Numeracy Week Mrs Prance has asked me to pass on a huge thanks to the school community for supporting the Literacy & Numeracy Carnival during week 3. She appreciated the support, enthusiasm and participation with the dressups. By all accounts Norman enjoyed his time on the island and it has provided stimulus for some future work – look out for a Cocos related book down the track! On behalf of Heather I'm delighted to announce that she is the recommended applicant for Principal L5 Corrigin District High School. This is a substantive position and a well-deserved promotion. Corrigin is a nice wheat belt town not too far from Perth and close to family and friends. Heather will finish at the end of this term, enjoy some LSL before starting at Corrigin in 2017. Over the next few weeks we'll celebrate Heather's significant contribution to CIDHS in an appropriate way.
