Jak je patrné již z výše uvedené tabulky, po časových spojkách se neklade budoucí čas. Je nahrazován pro vyjádření budoucnosti časem přítomným, pro vyjádření předbudoucnosti (ukončenosti děje v budoucnosti) časem předpřítomným. Je-li tato ukončenost zřetelná již z kontextu nebo významu některých spojek*, není třeba předpřítomného času užívat. Ex.: When I eat ... Až budu jíst ... When I have eaten ... Až sním ...
