Rocky: Good morning, sir. How do you do? Billy: Good morning to you. I’m fine. How are you? Rocky: Well, I’m afraid I’m a bit lost. I can’t seem to find my way around with this book. Billy: Let me have a look. Mmm… Stepping Stones… looks like an interesting book. But it won’t do you any good finding your way here in London! Rocky: Really?! Billy: No, I’m afraid not. Rocky: That’s a pity. Billy: What’s your name? Rocky: My name is Rocky. What’s your name? Billy: My name is William. But most people call me Billy. And I’m a bobby. Rocky: Billy the bobby? What’s a bobby? Billy: A bobby is a policeman. Rocky: A policeman? So you can help me find my way?
Billy: Sure! Where do you want to go to? Rocky: I was on my way to Buckingham Palace to have tea with the royal family. Billy: Tea with the royal family? Well, Buckingham Palace is easy from here. You go straight on and turn left at the traffic lights. Rocky: I can do that! By the way, what is that hat you’re wearing? Billy: That’s not a hat! That’s a cap! Rocky: I like it. Can I try it on? That’s a very nice cap! It looks really good on me, don’t you think? Billy: Indeed it does, young man. Rocky: So, I go right here and then turn right at the roundabout? Billy: Yes, why don’t you do that. Rocky: Thanks very much, sir. Have a nice day! Billy: And you too. Hey, my cap! Come back!

Well, surprise, surprise, about 98 percent of you like to relax in front of the telly, while only 1 percent likes bird watching. Here’s a lowdown on what’s hot and what’s not among pupils at Gwent Comprehensive. In the next school magazine there’s another special about hobbies. Then we’ll find out what our teachers do when they’re not teaching.

every day of her life! Freediving is sinking into water as far down as you can, and then coming back to the surface in only one breath. Mehgan’s first-ever freediving record in the US was 155 feet. She came back to the surface in 1 minute and 38 seconds. Then, a year later, she made it all the way to 165 feet! So, what does it feel like to be so deep underwater? Does it hurt? Is it scary? Or exciting? Or both? Mehgan has the answers. She says freediving is very different from sports like soccer and basketball. For these sports you need energy and adrenaline if you want to be good. For freediving you have to stay very calm and relaxed.

It’s a sunny morning in the Florida Keys. A girl named Mehgan Heaney-Grier is sitting in a small boat. There are four other boats. In these boats are Mehgan’s crew, spectators and the press. Mehgan practises a breathing technique called hyperventilation. When she is ready, she goes into the water. Then she starts sinking. Down to over 100 feet beneath the surface. She uses no equipment to help her.

On the signal, masses of people start flinging and slinging tomatoes at each other. After the event, which lasts for about two hours, water tanks are brought in to hose the town and everyone in it down.

5 Every year in May thousands of people bring their frogs to Angels Camp, California USA, for this competition. All frogs must be at least four inches long from nose to tail, and the winner is the frog that can jump the furthest in three hops. Once at the start, the ‘frog-jockeys’ are not allowed to touch their frogs until they have completed the three jumps. The frog that performs best, wins no less than $ 5,000 for its jockey.
