a. bahwa dalam rangka persiapan dan pembekalan pendidikan ke jenjang lebih tinggi para pegawai kehutanan perlu ditingkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mengenai bahasa Inggris; b. bahwa untuk peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pegawai kehutanan sebagaimana butir a dapat dilakukan melalui Diklat English For Academic Purposes Level 2; c.
Mengingat :
bahwa untuk tercapainya tujuan pada diktum a dan b, perlu ditetapkan kurikulum diklat dengan Keputusan Kepala Pusat Diklat Kehutanan.
1. Undang-Undang No. 41 Tahun 1999 tentang Kehutanan Jo. UU RI No. 19 tahun 2004 tentang penetapan Perppu No. 1 tahun 2004 tentang perubahan atas UU No. 41 tahun 1999; 2. Peraturan Menteri Kehutanan No. P.20/Menhut-II/2004 tanggal 15 Desember 2004 tentang Pedoman Penyelenggaraan Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Kehutanan; 3. Peraturan Menteri Kehutanan No. P.13/Menhut-II/2004 tanggal 6 Mei 2005 tentang Organisasi dan Tata Kerja Departemen Kehutanan serta peraturan-peraturan tentang perubahannya; MEMUTUSKAN.............. 1

: KEPUTUSAN KEPALA PUSAT PENDIDIKAN DAN PELATIHAN KEHUTANAN TENTANG KURIKULUM DIKLAT ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES LEVEL 2
PERTAMA
: Kurikulum Diklat English For Academic Purposes Level 2 sebagaimana terlampir merupakan bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari keputusan ini.
KEDUA
: Kurikulum sebagaimana diktum PERTAMA digunakan sebagai acuan dalam menyelenggarakan Diklat English For Academic Purposes Level 2 di lingkup Kementerian Kehutanan.
KETIGA
: Dengan ditetapkannya keputusan ini maka keputusan Kepala Pusat Diklat Kehutanan Nomor SK. 85/DIK-2/2004 tanggal 23 Agustus 2004 Lampiran 2. E.2 tentang Kurikulum English For Academic Purposes Level 2 dinyatakan tidak berlaku lagi;

3. Background of the Course In the global era, the mastery of foreign language, one of this is English, seems to be very important. Many references are written in non Indonesian text-books; even in the Ministry of Forestry Institutions, many courses, seminars and other programme are presented in English. It seems to be very relevant and useful for the human resources of the Ministry of Forestry do develop their competence in mastering English in order to be able to participate actively in the international events. However, the handicaps of this seem to be the media of communication, and English is expected to be one of the solution. 4. Brief description of the course EAP II course is one of a three level of English course provided by the Centre for Forestry Education and Training (CFET). The levelling of the course is in accordance with the levelling suggested by Lembaga Administrasi Negara (LAN). This course tries to provide assistance for learners of English to develop their competence in participating in the international hemisphere and in the formal situation. This level of English Course will be presented in a three month period continuously and stressing more on the English language skills through the understanding of language competence. 5. General Objective EAP is an abbreviation for English for Academic Purposes. There are two levels of EAP, namely EAP I and EAP II. EAP 2 is an upper intermediate or advance English course which is basically the next level after EAPI but with more focused purposes on academic use of English. EAP II aims to revise the skills and knowledge the participants have already gained in the previous Basic Courses and other intermediate English Courses either in the Centre for education and Training of Forestry Officials or other English Language Centres. In Pusdik, the basic English course is offered in The BELL: Basic 3
English Language Learning; and the intermediate or advance level is provided in EAP 1. The general objective of EAP II is targeted to help participants to be able to develop their own language learning and maintenance (independence) beside to help them to apply the English competence in academic language use and to prepare the participants to function adequately in English-speaking academic settings. The idea of the term academic in this course refers to the ability of the participants to apply the language with a relatively high accuracy,
high awareness, high self- confidence in formal English environment. 6. Target of the Course /Specific Curriculum Objectives: a. Reading
: To help participants to be able to perform the demands of reading a passage which are reflected from some guided questions on each session and to understand the deep structure of English and develop their vocabulary retention.
b. Writing
: To help participants to be able to do some preparation before writing both in informal and formal style which are reflected from some guided tasks on each session, and step by step they can produce an academic writing and finally, (at the end of the course), they can perform a piece of a simple but semi authentic research paper.
c. Listening
: Enable to participants to understand the main points of casual conversation with both Indonesian and non Indonesians speakers of English, of authentic discourse, to extract specific information from a spoken passage and to make organized on the main points of academic discourses.
d. Speaking
: To lead the participants to be able to talk confidently with a relatively comprehensible pronunciation, stress and intonation about a range of academic subjects with reasonable fluency and accuracy and employing useful speaking strategies such as rephrasing, in some academic context such as in discussions of academic topics. 4
e. Structure
: To provide help for the participants to revise and use the structures and functions of English as presented in lessons from the textbooks used and recognize correct and faulty usage in a number of specific areas with the purpose of being able to correct their own errors
f. Tests preparation
: To help participants to increase their TOFL scores by 50 points, prepare them to take IELTS test with confidence and develop their own strategies in doing some English Tests demanded for International enrolment.
g. Integrated skills
: To help participants to realize the integrated skills of language in real context.
h. Project Writing
: To guide the participants to perform they skills of writing in formal/academic style through some guided steps of writing a research paper or expressing ideas in written form.
i. Self Directed Learning : To guide the participants to analyse their own weakness and strength in order to provide suggestion for their own remedy. 7. The target of the participants a. Class Capacity : Maximum 30 people. b. Requirements : - Having attended BELT and EAP 1 courses or can perform document(s)

or certificate(s) of intermediate English course or documents of score at least 475 in TOEFL Having Full Forestry Civil Servant Having the experience of working for at least three years in the Forestry Department. Nominated by the head of the working office Having a high motivation in learning English in a three-month intensive English Course. Not more than 30 (thirty years) of age

8. Facilitators : a. Requirement: - Master the English language well - Have background knowledge of English language competence - Have the ability to recognize and to assist the participants’ needs both as a class and individual in their language competence - Have high commitment to assist learning in a relatively long programme (three months) -
Have experience in teaching English and have capability to choose and present class materials Have the ability to evaluate the individual participants’ progress and assist remedy
b. Institution : - Widyaiswara from the Centre for Education and Training of Forestry Official/Forestry Training Centre - English Lecturers from IPB/Department of Agriculture Language Centres 9. Duration of the course: 90 days (500 lessons hours) 10. Place of the course - Centre for Forestry Education and Training (CFET) - Other places for field study/field trip. 11. Stationeries for each participant: Books, pens, rulers, erasers Class: Whiteboard markers (6 Boxes), flip charts (24 sheets), Jasicha OHP transparencies (2 boxes) and the markers (3 set of four colors), Seal tapes, blue tags, Glue, 40 recording cassettes of 90’, a unit of pencil sharpener, a whiteboard eraser, 6 boxes of HVS paper, refill printer toner HP Laser Jet 6L, 1 unit of paper cutter, 2 pieces of blank Compact Disc, refill staples (big/No 3; and small/No 10, each 6 boxes).
