In 1999: 0,9% vrouwen in Raad van Bestuur top 500 bedrijven, in 2011: 5,7% (er is nog een weg te gaan….) Bedrijven monitoren niet alleen het aandeel vrouwen in management, maar ook: m/v verschillen in recruitment, in deelname MD programma’s, snelheid van carrièrestappen, verhouding beoordelingen-promoties Cross-company mentoring programma’s zijn effectief: overgrote deel mentees zet carrièrestappen en mentoren worden zich bewust van diversiteit en loopbaanverschillen m/v Niveau van debatten en van kennis m.b.t. diversiteit is aanzienlijk verhoogd. Het gaat niet meer om doelgroepenbeleid maar om inclusive leiderschap en herkennen van uiteenlopende talenten en ambities. Het gaat om authentiek gedrag en niet meer om fitting in gedrag. Steeds meer bedrijven stellen D&I managers aan, D&I management is een echt en gerespecteerd vak geworden

Hardnekkige vooroordelen overboord: talentvolle vrouwen verlaten bedrijven niet vanwege werk/privé, maar vanwege gebrek aan waardering en kansen. En Nederlandse vrouwen zijn wel degelijk ambitieus! Veel bedrijven hebben mooie maatregelen voor diversiteit, zorg ervoor dat ze worden uitgevoerd: don’t just talk, act! De top van bedrijven moet zich niet alleen committeren aan diversiteit, maar ook accepteren dat het zelf ook te leren heeft, dat geldt ook voor Raden van Commissarissen Female development programma’s zijn zinvol, maar investeer vooral ook in het trainen van (mannelijke) lijnmanagers Zet mentoring in als een wederzijds proces, waarvan zowel mentees als mentoren leren D&I beleid is geen kwestie van een lijstje afstrepen, maar is een ongoing process Organisaties op het gebied van diversiteit moeten steeds intensiever samen werken

• Nederland is geen toonbeeld van genderdiversiteit, loopt achter, met name in universiteiten. Dat komt o.a. doordat diversiteit hier nog te veel wordt gezien als ‘nice or right to have’ terwijl het ‘smart &need to have’ is. Ook is er een hardnekkig cultureel issue m.b.t. moederschap en part time werken. Gerichte acties m.b.t. diversiteit dan ook noodzakelijk. • Diversiteit is geen vrouwen issue: “men should understand that diversity and gender balance is to the benefit of men!” Maatregelen die bijdragen aan betere participatie en doorstroom van vrouwen, blijken te zorgen voor een betere organisatie voor álle medewerkers.
Highlights presentatie Curt Rice (2) • Heb oog voor groepsdynamiek en minderheid/meerderheid effecten; 1 vrouw benoemen in een verder masculiene groep is geen diversiteit • Iedereen heeft vooroordelen (bias), je ziet je eigen vooroordelen niet, je kunt ze niet leren via introspectie, wel via anderen en door bijv. de Implicit Association Test • Ongelijke behandeling is fnuikend, zie bijv. de experimenten van gedragsbioloog Frans de Waal, mooi filmpje hiervan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meiU6TxysCg • Good practice: in advertentie voor lijnmanager waarin werd opgenomen dat kandidaten o.a. moeten aangeven hoe ze meer vrouwen in het team krijgen, leverde meer vrouwelijke sollicitanten op • Uit onderzoek blijkt dat quota niet ten koste van kwaliteit gaat
Highlights presentatie Curt Rice (3) Aanbevelingen voor bedrijven: Weet waar je staat voordat je gaat starten met diversity maatregelen en wees transparant waar het gaat om cijfers Stel concrete doelen Zorg dat je je diversity maatregelen baseert op de juiste en gefundeerde data Naast studies zijn stories ook belangrijk, maar deze hebben een andere rol en status Leiderschap: stimuleer D&I en ‘keep things fair’! Cruciaal is dat onbewuste vooroordelen worden onderkend en worden geadresseerd: zorg dat maatregelen de bias verminderen én compenseren Ken de kweekvijver van talentvolle vrouwen en maak carrièreplannen met hen

Highlights break-outs (1) Female Capital bij bouwbedrijf BAM – door Viviene Klaassen, Directeur Projecten en Spoor BAM Infratechniek Distributie en voorzitter vrouwennetwerk FC BAM
Diversiteit is heel belangrijk bij een bouwbedrijf als BAM. BAM mobiliseert en versterkt daarom bewust en gericht het vrouwelijk talent. Dat wordt deels geïnitieerd door het vrouwennetwerk FC BAM en in woord en daad ondersteund door de Raad van Bestuur en de HR Directie van de Koninklijke BAM Groep. FC BAM is ook interne adviseur en initiator op het gebied van diversiteit en inclusie.
Highlights break-outs (2) Inclusive Leadership training bij Dow Benelux - door Maarten Hermans, Operational Leader Dow Benelux Dow Benelux hecht als internationaal georiënteerd bedrijf veel belang aan inclusive leadership, in de breedste zin van het begrip: gender, leeftijd, cultuur, opleiding, enz. Om leidinggevenden te ondersteunen bij hun rol als inclusive (team)leader, die de dialoog met heel diverse teams en medewerkers moeten kunnen voeren en talenten de kans moeten geven zich te ontwikkelen, hebben zij deelgenomen aan een training van Opportunity Advies. “De deelnemers waren zeer gecharmeerd van het kunnen oefenen met een casus die heel dicht bij onze werkpraktijk staat. De meerwaarde zit hem in het maatwerk, het kunnen werken en oefenen met trainers en acteurs, die zich kunnen inleven in de situatie in ons bedrijf.“

Het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken heeft in 2013 en 2014 alle Personeels- en Management Adviseurs (PMA’s) van de personeelsdienst een workshop ‘Een kwestie van kijken, divers talent herkennen’ van Opportunity Advies aangeboden. De PMA’s hebben een belangrijke taak in het signaleren, (h) erkennen en selecteren van talenten. De workshop gaat over het onderkennen en (h)erkennen van de invloed van stereotyperingen en vooronderstellingen op het selectie- en beoordelingsproces. Deelnemers krijgen meer inzicht in de eigen vooronderstellingen en blinde vlekken op het gebied van diversiteit
Highlights break-outs (4) Cross Mentoring&Boardroom Coaching-ABN AMRO, IBM, KLM In Cross Mentoring en Boardroom Coaching van Opportuniy zijn verschillende elementen geïntegreerd, waardoor ze zowel bijdragen aan talent- en leiderschapsontwikkeling als aan diversiteit en doorstroom van vrouwen. Zo vormen sponsoring en wederkerigheid belangrijke onderdelen. ABN AMRO, IBM en KLM zijn 3 van de ca. 25 bedrijven die aan deze programma’s meedoen. ABN AMRO koppelt het aan ‘empowerment’, een van de 3 speerpunten van beleid. Voor IBM is belangrijk dat talent dat niet direct zichtbaar is, in dit programma een kans krijgt. Bij KLM is het stimuleren van vertikaal potentieel en het vergroten van zelfvertrouwen belangrijk. Alle deelnemers vinden ook het cross-company aspect een grote pre.
Highlights break-outs (5) Inclusive organisations: bouwen aan het merk diversity door Ton Rodenburg Strategic Director ARA
Inclusive organisations maken een speerpunt van de branding van diversity & inclusion. Het veroveren van de hoofden en de harten van mensen vraagt om een gerichte aanpak. Kortom: diversity marketing. Van belang is om de sterke verhalen en voorbeelden te delen: “Great stories, well told”. Cruciaal: een betekenisvolle missie, energetische en onderscheidende kernwaarden en uitdagende ambities vertalen naar dagelijks werk op elk niveau Leiderschap: alle interne contacten vormen een ‘merk-waardige’ beleving. “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough” (Einstein)
