SUMMARY Speciation of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were conducted by using dual mini columns in the automated pretreatment system and coupled with ICP-AES as detector. The Analig Cr02 resin was packed in the first column and the Muromac A-1 resin was packed in the second column. The system can provide highly sensitive and fully automated system for the speciation of Cr(III) and Cr(VI). The result of experiment showed, that the Cr(VI) species can be collected by Analig Cr-02 resin at pH of 3 - 5, while Cr(III) species could not retained by Analig Cr-02 resin. The Cr(III) species was collected by Muromac A-1 at pH 4 - 9. The developed system was successfully applied for speciation of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in mineral drinking water, tap water and river water samples. The detection limits of chromium was 0.6 μg L-1 and the analysis time of 8 minutes for both chromium species.
