The problem of this study is differentiation of students’ job choices and his/her majors and related to students’ achievement of vocational competence and parental support. The aim of this study is to know the correlation between students’ achievement of vocational competence and parental support with students’ job choice of grade III skill program of technic automotive in SMK Negeri 1 Merdekan Kab. Karo 2011/2012 year. This research was done in SMK Negeri 1 Merdeka Kab. Karo is located at Pendidikan street Kec. Merdeka Kab. Karo on even semester. The population of this research are whole of the students grade III skill program of technic automotive in SMK Negeri 1 Merdeka Kab. Karo 2011/2012 year, amounting to 158 students and the sampling techniques was chosen by random (random events) by 40% of the population, 64 students. The data was obtained through a questionnaire and the amount of incomplete data of the fifth semester students was through competency test. The validity test was conducted for the analysis the item questionnaire product moment correlation formula was used. Data analysis techniques to test the hypothesis, logistic regression was used. The results of this study showed that the learning achievement of vocational competencies and job choice has a positive and significant correlation but the parental support did not have a significant relationship with the choice of a job as an automotive mechanic. The research showed that, when parental support was high, students would have a tendency to choose a job as a policeman. Keywords: Learning Achievement, Parental Support, job Choice

Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adanya perbedaan pilihan pekerjaan siswa SMK sesuai dengan jurusan yang diambil dan berhubungan dengan prestasi belajar kompetensi kejuruan dan dukungan orang tua. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara prestasi belajar kompetensi kejuruan dan dukungan orang tua dengan pilihan pekerjaan siswa tingkat III program keahlian teknik otomotif SMK Negeri 1 Merdekan Kab. Karo tahun ajaran 2011/2012. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMK Negeri 1 Merdeka Kab. Karo yang terletak di Jl. Pendidikan Kec. Merdeka Kab. Karo pada semester Genap. Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas III Program Keahlian Teknik Otomotif SMK Negeri 1 Merdeka Kab. Karo yang berjumlah 158 orang dan Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara dipilih secara acak (random samping) sebesar 40% dari populasi yaitu sebanyak 64 orang. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui angket dan jumlah data mentah siswa semester V dengan uji kompentesi siswa. Uji Validitas yang dilakukan untuk analisis butir angket digunakan rumus korelasi product moment, uji reabiltasnya dihitung dengan rumus alpha speert. Teknik analisis data untuk menguji hipotesis digunakan regeresi logistik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa prestasi belajar kompetensi kejuruan memiliki hubungan positif dan signifikan dengan pilihan pekerjaan tetapi dukungan orang tua tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan pilihan pekerjaan sebagai mekanik otomotif. Dari hasil penelitian terlihat bahwa, bila dukungan orang tua tinggi, siswa akan memiliki kecenderungan untuk memilih pekerjaan sebagai polisi.
