F R I DAY 13 & SATU R DAY 14 M A RC H / 20:30 / A I N S I / € 16
The French choreographer, dancer and circus maker pur sang Pierre Rigal plays wonderful pranks in a sober and sharply-timed play. Through the alternation of movement and freezes and especially through the often virtually impossible physical postures Rigal plays with our perception. Therein lies a great expressive power. Technically very inventive and intelligent in terms of dramaturgy, the performance plunges us in a world of suspense and humour.

Five performers explore the possibilities of the contemporary gallery space. As the tourist, the connoisseur, the museum guard and the artist take shape, their interest will shift from the space and its exposed artworks towards each other. By uniting the rules of the white space with those of the black-box she transforms the way we look.
With a minimum of language Suze Milius creates colorful worlds that are full of estrangement, beauty and humor. The exhibition, that shows new works by five young artists, can be visited on Saturday till Monday from 12.00 till 16.00.

How to Visit an Art Museum) over menselijk gedrag in musea.
The museum: the perfect place to look at art or an inaccessible temple where social status and unwritten rules reign? Independently of each other Suze Milius made a performance (EXHIBIT) and Johna Idema wrote a book (How to Visit an Art Museum) about human behaviour in museums. During Tefaf the theatre director and the cultural advisor will engage in conversation: are art museums still of our age and could there be other ways to look at art? They ask an insider and an outsider to present their best alternative. You can take part! (Dutch spoken)
YOU CAN TAKE PART!
A video installation by Stefan Jakiela, performance artist and cofounder House Crying Yellow Tears, that lets the observer enter a alternate world. A body, alone in an isolated space, seeks its way and frees itself mentally, despite the isolation. Threads is the last part of the video trilogy The Table Series, in which existential alienation is the leitmotiv. This new video from Jakiela offers an intricate experience by the use of intense chiaroscuro and refined precision.

Anton Bruckner dedicated his last symphony to none other than ‘the dear God’. As if the ill composer wanted to safeguard his place in heaven with it. His Ninth Symphony remained unfinished, but the three completed parts constitute such a tremendous listening adventure that no one misses the finale. The symphony has the grandeur of a grand chorale by Bach, one of Bruckner’s favourite composers. Stravinsky also liked to turn to Bach, which can be heard in his exhilarating Violin Concerto.

Marktplaats 76 (Marketplace 76) is the darkest story Jan Lauwers has written for his high-spirited ensemble. With Lauwers himself in the role of narrator and leader of the brass band, Needcompany sings and dances the story of the village. A village that is mourning the consequences of a tragic explosion on the marketplace. ‘A theatrical adventure, marvelously sang and danced’ - L’Humanité.
Exclusief voor de Euregio in Maastricht. Een Needcompany productie. In coproductie met Ruhrtriennale (Bochum), Burgtheater (Wenen), Holland Festival (Amsterdam). Met de steun van de Vlaamse overheid.
Multiple languages spoken, English titles.
EJECT displays a virtually empty white stage. A short dance phrase is the basis of this performance, which constantly plays with frame, perspective, space and the sense of time and place. To this end, the three dancers are pulling out all the stops: video and projection, new media and communication techniques, music and ‘images from outside’. And who does not dance, adds information.

In King Lear, Shakespeare tells the story of an ageing king who must share his kingdom among his three daughters, thus precipitating his own ruin and that of his country. In Flemish author and playwright Tom Lanoye’s Koningin Lear (Queen Lear), the kingdom becomes an international family company managed by the eponymous “Leading Lady Lear”. The title role has been written especially for Frieda Pittoors, one of the grandes dames of Dutch and Flemish theatre.

The performance is an ode to the (female) body. Four nude dancers are moving behind a translucent screen. The image is blurry, sometimes disappears completely, but it is ‘doubled’ through projections on the screen. Those images are purely aesthetic, bordering on kitsch: the four bodies unfold like flowers. Inflamed by ever more violent music, projection and original movement. In 2013, Keren Levi was awarded the Dioraphte Dance Award for The Dry Piece.
