Intermountain Healthcare – saving lives, reducing costs Intermountain Healthcare introduced standard workflow guidelines, and measured outcomes. They made dramatic and continuous improvements: For patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome: ...guideline variances dropped from 59% to 6% within just 4 mths ...patient survival increased from 9.5% to 44% ...physicians’ time commitments fell by about half ...the total cost of care decreased by 25%
