Melibatkan Diri asil yang luar-biasa akan tercapai jika ada kerja sama yang baik, seperti yang ditunjukkan staf Holcim saat mereka membantu warga Desa Nambo membangun jalan di Narogong bulan lalu; kegiatan pertama tahun ini dalam rangkaian bakti perusahaan untuk memperingati Seratus Tahun Holcim Group. Kondisi di lapangan menyulitkan karena jalan yang terjal dan hujan lebat sehingga truk pengangkut semen tidak mudah menjangkau lokasi. Berkat kesiapan dan kesediaan staf Holcim dan warga untuk bahu-membahu, sebagian besar jalan selesai dicor sebelum waktu makan siang. Semua orang melibatkan diri dan semua berjalan baik; kisah lengkapnya dapat kita baca di Berita Kita edisi ini. ood teamwork can produce great results, and an excellent example of teamwork was on display when Holcim staff helped Nambo Villagers build a road in Narogong last month; the first community volunteering event held this year to mark the Holcim Group’s Centennial Celebrations. The job started in difficult conditions, the road was steep at the beginning, and a heavy downpour of rain made it more difficult for the trucks to deliver the concrete from our batching plant. Yet, the attitude of the Holcim staff and the villagers meant that by lunchtime we had already completed a significant section of the work. Everyone pitched in, and everyone had a great time; and you can read more in the next pages of Berita Kita. More examples of teamwork in this magazine: on display at the Holcim distributors’ forum in Singapore; teaching trainees to use Tuban’s new Safety Platform; and used by the successful graduates of our Enterprise-Based Vocational Education programme.

anyak hal menarik yang dipelajari peserta Holcim Indonesia Distributors Forum untuk dijadikan bekal dalam mencetak kinerja terbaik untuk tahun 2012 ini: menangkap "lalat" dengan sumpit, mempelajari gerakan Kung Fu, dan mendalami nilai dan prinsip yang bisa digali dari ilmu bela diri tradisional ini. Acara bertema "AccelerAction for Growth" berlangsung selama tiga hari di ShangriLa Rasa Sentosa Singapura, pada tanggal 2-4 Februari, dan pada kesempatan itu tim Sales and Marketing Holcim bertemu dengan para distributor untuk menyampaikan program perusahaan tahun ini dan bertukar pikiran mengenai

bagaimana cara meningkatkan angka penjualan. Forum dibuka dengan presentasi oleh Holcim pada Jumat siang dan disusul sambutan oleh Patrick Walser, Director of Strategy, Business Development and Innovation yang baru, serta perkenalan dengan dua Vice President baru Holcim, yaitu Apsara Herman, Vice President of Marketing, dan Juhans Suryantan, Vice President of Sales. Selanjutnya peserta berkumpul untuk acara santap malam di hotel, dan diperkenalkan dengan nominator Holcim Innovation Awards 2011 melalui video. Pada hari kedua mereka mengikuti latihan pembinaan tim yang mengambil tema Kung Fu. Pagi-pagi sekali peserta berkumpul di Chinese Garden Park, kawasan Jurong untuk melakukan beberapa kegiatan guna mengasah kemampuan mereka memecahkan masalah. Setelah shalat Jumat dan makan siang, peserta kembali ke hotel untuk mendengar penjelasan Kafi Kurnia, ahli Feng Shui tentang makna bermacammacam jurus Kung Fu dan kaitannya dengan bisnis sehari-hari. Para distributor selanjutnya dibagi menjadi beberapa kelompok kecil, dan masing-masing menyampaikan komitmen mereka untuk tahun 2012.
Acara untuk hari itu berakhir setelah Juhans menyampaikan masukan seputar presentasi yang disampaikan. Forum ditutup dengan acara makan malam meriah di ballroom hotel yang mengambil tema Perayaan Seratus Tahun Holcim Group. Seusai pertunjukan Liong dan Barongsai, diumumkan nama-nama pemenang penghargaan Innovation and Performance, dan pada akhir acara CEO Holcim Indonesia, Eamon Ginley, memberikan sambutan untuk memotivasi mereka yang hadir. Innovation Award diberikan kepada distributor yang berhasil menjalankan program yang mereka rancang sendiri menurut tujuh kriteria: Produk dan Pelayanan, Harga, Lokasi, Promosi, Personil, Mitra dan Pelatihan, dan finalis terbaik untuk masing-masing kategori dipilih langsung oleh para distributor. Sedangkan Performance Award, sesuai namanya, diberikan kepada mereka yang mampu mencapai target penjualan tertentu.

atching “flies” with chopsticks, practicing Kung Fu movements, and learning the values behind the martial art were some of the fun ways the delegates at Holcim Indonesia Distributors Forum prepared for topquality performances in 2012. The three-days event, themed “AccelerAction For Growth” was held at Singapore’s Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa from February 2-4. It saw Holcim’s Sales and Marketing team meet with distributors to share Holcim’s business initiatives for the year and brainstorm ways to increase sales. Opening with a business presentation from Holcim on the Friday afternoon, delegates listened to speech by Patrick Walser, the new Director of Strategy, Business Development and Innovation, and were introduced to two new Vice Presidents, Apsara Herman, the Vice President of Marketing; and Juhans Suryantan, the Vice President of Sales. Later, participants gathered together for the welcome dinner at the hotel where they were introduced to the nominees
for the Holcim Innovation Awards 2011 via a video presentation.

The second day focused on teambuilding exercises, with Kung Fu as the theme. From early morning the participants gathered in the Chinese Garden Park at Jurong area, and carried out a number of problem solving activities.
The Innovation Awards were given to distributors for the programmes they had created using seven criteria: Product and Services, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Partners and Education, with distributors voting for the best finalists in each category. Performance Awards were based on reaching specific sales targets.
After Friday Prayers and lunch, participants headed back to the hotel to listen to Kafi Kurnia, a Feng Shui expert who explained the meanings behind different Kung Fu styles and how these were related to business. Delegates then gathered in smaller groups, which made presentations about their commitments for 2012, with Juhans wrapping up the day with his commentary on the presentations. The forum concluded with a Gala Dinner with a Holcim Group centennial theme. ujan lebat tidak menyurutkan semangat relawan pada 25 Januari ketika Holcim Indonesia memulai Perayaan Seratus Tahun Holcim Group dengan membangun jalan bagi warga desa yang tinggal di sekitar Narogong Plant. Tiga puluh tujuh karyawan bergabung dalam proyek yang dipimpin langsung oleh CEO Eamon Ginley dan Manufacturing Director Lilik Unggul Raharjo, yang bertujuan untuk lebih menghubungkan masyarakat pedesaan dengan ekonomi lokal dan pelayanan sosial. Tujuan proyek ini untuk memperbaiki jalan sepanjang 600 meter dari jalan berlumpur menjadi jalan layak yang terbuat dari beton untuk menghubungkan desa Nambo. Lokasinya dekat dengan Batching Plant Narogong sehingga material yang dibutuhkan relatif mudah di distibusikan. Selain karyawan Holcim, sekitar 25 warga desa dengan penuh semangat juga berpartisipasi dalam pembangunan jalan. Kegiatan hari itu di mulai dengan sambutan singkat dari CEO Holcim Indonesia, Eamon Ginley dan Camat Bogor, Enduy HS, dilanjutkan safety briefing. Tidak lama setelah truk pertama yang membawa beton tiba, hujan lebat pun turun. Namun hujan tidak memperlambat mereka, tidak perlu menunggu lama, mereka berkumpul kembali dan mulai menyekop dan meratakan beton sebagai langkah pertama. Pekerjaan tetap berlangsung, meskipun semua orang dapat beristirahat sejenak untuk makan siang. Para relawan membangun jalan secara bertahap, pertama menyekop beton sesuai ketinggian yang diinginkan, kemudian menghaluskan dengan mortar dan akhirnya tahap akhir dengan sapu lidi.

"Jalan itu akan membuat perbedaan besar bagi warga desa, banyak dari mereka akan menggunakannya untuk pulang-pergi ke tempat mereka bekerja," kata Mad Isad Sukandi, Kepala Desa Nambo, yang tinggal bersama Enas, istri dan dua anaknya dengan rumah sederhana yang terletak puluh meter sebelum jalan baru. "Saya mengucapkan terimakasih kepada Holcim untuk sumbangan bahan dan tenaga kerja, dan berharap kami dapat terus bekerja sama seperti ini di masa depan." Mad dan pekerja lainnya sudah terlihat lelah ketika pekerjaan telah di nyatakan selesai pada pukul 4 sore. Lelah dan kotor, tapi ada rasa puas dimana para relawan dan penduduk desa saling berjabat tangan dan tersenyum.

short explosion of torrential rain didn’t dampen volunteers’ spirits on January 25, when Holcim Indonesia kicked off the group’s Centennial Celebrations by building a road for villagers living near Narogong Plant. Thirty-seven employees, led by CEO Eamon Ginley and Manufacturing Director Lilik Unggul Raharjo, joined the project, which aims to better link the
rural community with the local economy and social services. The immediate objective was to convert 600 meters of muddy pathway running through Nambo village into a proper road made of concrete The location was close to Holcim Narogong’s concrete batching plant so the logistics were relatively easy. In addition to Holcim employees, about 25 villagers eagerly participated in the road construction. The day began with an address by Holcim Indonesia CEO Eamon Ginley and Bogor local government sub-district head Enduy HS, followed by a safety briefing. About a minute after the first truckload of concrete arrived, the skies opened and a terrific downpour began. The volunteers didn’t let the rain slow them down, however, and after a minute or two to regroup, they began shovelling and levelling the concrete into the first stage of the road. Work continued throughout the day, although everyone did manage to take a
break for lunch. Volunteers built the road in stages, first shovelling the concrete roughly level, then smoothing with mortars and finally finishing with a pair of brooms. Wooden forms were used to keep the concrete in place while wet, then recycled and placed further down the road for the next pour. “The road will make a big difference for villagers, many of whom will use it to commute to factories where they work,” said Mad Isad Sukandi, the Nambo village subdistrict head, who lives with his wife, Enas and two children in a modest house located dozen meters before the start of the new road. “I sincerely thank Holcim for their donation of materials and labor, and hope we can continue this kind of cooperation in the future.” By 4pm, Mad and the other volunteers were exhausted when the work was declared finished. Tired and dirty, but satisfied, the volunteers and the villagers shook hands and exchanged smiles.

A Most Admirable Result

Holcim baru-baru ini dinobatkan sebagai Most Admired Company untuk kategori usaha di sektor properti Indonesia menurut hasil survei majalah Fortune Indonesia. Terpilih 20 perusahaan terbaik di Indonesia untuk kategori industri dan lainnya, dan penghargaan diserahkan oleh Agung Adi Prasetyo, Direktur Utama Kompas Gramedia, penerbit Fortune Indonesia, di Hotel Nikko, Jakarta Pusat, 25 Januari. Majalah Fortune sendiri mulai terbit di Indonesia Juni 2010.

Responden diminta untuk menyebutkan satu perusahaan berdasarkan kriteria yang meliputi - mutu manajemen; mutu produk atau layanan; inovasi; investasi jangka panjang; posisi keuangan; kemampuan untuk menarik masuk, mempertahankan dan mengembangkan personil berkualitas; penggunaan aset secara cermat; dan efektivitas perusahaan di dunia usaha global. Survei mendapat tanggapan dari sekitar 20.000 peserta. Selain Holcim Indonesia, Bank Central Asia terpilih sebagai perusahaan di sektor perbankan yang paling dikagumi; Telkom Indonesia menang untuk kategori telekomunikasi; Unilever untuk sektor barang konsumen; dan HM Sampoerna untuk sektor industri. Pemenang umum untuk tahun 2011 adalah Astra International.

t seems that our collective efforts to win over customers on quality and service are paying off. Holcim was recently named the Most Admired Company operating in the Indonesian property sector according to an extensive survey by Fortune Indonesia magazine.
The awards, which chose 20 of the best Indonesian companies based on industry, were announced by Agung Adi Prasetyo, the CEO of Kompas Gramedia, which publishes Fortune Indonesia, at a ceremony at the Hotel Nikko in Central Jakarta on January 25. Fortune Magazine was launched in Indonesia in June 2010. Corporate Secretary and Legal Affairs Director Jannus Hutapea received the award for Holcim Indonesia. “This survey is very important because it asked people to come up with the names of companies they respected by themselves; there was no multi-choice involved, so they answered Holcim essentially without any prompting,” Jannus told Berita Kita after the ceremony. “Holcim was named as most admired company in the property sector, and this shows that people are really starting to take
notice of our brand and the work we’re doing. Not just delivering to shareholders, but the things we’re doing out in the community.” The survey was conducted by Fortune in conjunction with consulting firm Hayes Indonesia from August 1 to September 7, 2011, and involved sending 30,000 surveys out to a randomly chosen national sample selected through the telephone directory. Respondents were asked to name a company judged on criteria including – management quality; the quality of a product or service; innovation; long-term investment; financial position; the ability to attract, keep, and develop talented people; intelligent use of assets; and effectiveness in the global business environment. Around 20,000 of the surveys were returned. Along with Holcim Indonesia, Bank Central Asia won most admired company in the banking sector; Telkom Indonesia in telecommunications; Unilever in the consumer goods sector and HM Sampoerna in the industrial sector. The overall most admired company for 2011 was Astra International.

Tuban Safety Rises to New Heights

esehatan dan keselamatan kerja di Tuban kian baik menyusul pelatihan pada bulan Januari menggunakan Safety Platform baru yang pertama kali digunakan di Asia oleh Holcim.

"Safe Working at Height" perdana diselenggarakan Corporate OHS selama setengah hari pada tanggal 26 Januari dan diikuti 26 kontraktor serta 2 staf Holcim di bawah pengarahan Safety Instructor, Sugeng Handoyo.
Platform dengan dua tingkat dan luas masing-masing lantai 128 meter persegi dan tinggi 8 meter, dapat dimanfaatkan untuk pelatihan keselamatan kerja di tempat tertutup, pelatihan pengoperasian alat angkat serta isolasi listrik, mengenai cara bagaimana memadamkan dan mengamankan aliran listrik ke lokasi selama pembangunan.
Dalam pelatihan peserta belajar cara aman mengenakan sabuk pengaman lengkap, sementara kepada pengawas maupun mandor ditunjukkan cara kerja yang aman di tempat tinggi serta cara memeriksa dan menggunakan steger dengan benar. Safety platform dirancang serta dibangun tahun lalu, dan diharapkan "ribuan pekerja" dapat berlatih di sini selama proyek pembangunan Pabrik Tuban berlangsung, kata Pungki Yudono,

"Bagi kami, semua orang di lokasi harus paham teknik dasar keselamatan kerja - guna menghindari kecelakaan fatal di tempat kerja," kata Pungki.
Setiap kali menyelesaikan kursus, topi proyek peserta akan ditempeli stiker, tanda bahwa mereka bekerja sesuai standar ketat Holcim. Pekerja lokal dari wilayah sekitar pabrik yang termasuk Ring 1 mencapai 400 orang dari 700 pekerja di Tuban, dan pekerja lokal peserta gelombang

keamanannya sangat minim. Setiap minggu ada saja pekerja di sana yang meninggal, menurutnya." Ketika pembangunan menara kiln preheater mendekati rampung, pekerja akan bekerja pada ketinggian hingga 100 meter, ujar Pungki. Sekarang ini tinggi menara baru sekitar 12 meter.

ccupational health and safety at Tuban got more sophisticated in January when training began using the new Safety Platform, the first such construction in use by Holcim in Asia. Organised by Corporate OHS, the first, half-day “Safe Working at Height” module began on January 26. It involved 26 contractors and two Holcim staff and was led by Safety Instructor Sugeng Handoyo. Training included instruction in the safe use of a full body harness, involving supervisors and foremen in safe practices at height, and knowing how to properly inspect and use scaffolding. The platform was designed and built last year and is expected to train “thousands of workers,” during the lifetime of the Tuban Plant construction, says Pungki Yudono, Tuban Occupational Health and Safety Manager. “What’s really important is that everyone on site has a good understanding of important safety techniques – this is how you prevent serious accidents,” Pungki said. With an area of 128 square metres over two floors and eight metres high, the
platform will also be used for safety training in confined spaces, training for use of lifting apparatus, and electricity isolation training; when participants learn how to safely shut down and lock off power to a site during construction. After completing each course, each participant will display a sticker on their helmet, a visual reminder that they are complying with Holcim’s strict standards.

set of closed-circuit television cameras recently installed at Holcim Cilacap’s Port, are an important way to build relationships with the town’s police and the law enforcement community on Nusakambangan Island. Syafril Indra Kusuma, Superintendant of Quarry Operations-Nusakambangan, said the four cameras; two covering the jetty area, one in the car park and one covering power generation equipment; give Holcim’s team of security guards 24-hour surveillance of the port.

elabuhan milik Holcim di Cilacap belum lama ini memasang kamera atau CCTV dalam upaya mempererat hubungan perusahaan dengan pihak kepolisian kota dan petugas lembaga pemasyarakatan di Pulau Nusakambangan. Syafril Indra Kusuma, Superintendant of Quarry Operations - Nusakambangan, menyatakan ada empat kamera terpasang; dua untuk memantau dermaga, satu di lapangan parkir dan satu lagi di fasilitas pembangkit listrik agar tim pengamanan Holcim dapat mengawasi pelabuhan 24 jam sehari. "Tujuan utama pemasangan kamera adalah agar Holcim dapat merekam siapa yang masuk dan keluar dari Pulau Nusakambangan," kata Pak Syafril yang

Holcim mengizinkan petugas kepolisian dan pejabat dari Kementerian Hukum dan HAM memanfaatkan kapal milik perusahaan jika akan pergi ke penjara di Nusakambangan. Kami diminta memasang kamera demi membantu mereka menjalankan tugas pengawasan rutin." Rekaman data selama satu bulan dapat diakses, dan setelah itu akan disimpan dalam arsip. “The cameras will give Holcim a clear record of who is going to and leaving Nusakambangan Island,” said Syafril, known by his nickname Pak Sik. “With narcotics prisons on the island, there is a potential risk that contraband could be moving onto the island via the port. Holcim allows the police and officials from the Department of Law and Human Rights to use our boat and travel to jails located on the island. They asked the cameras be installed to back up their routine surveillance.” The cameras will record data for one month before it goes into an archive. The system will be manned by one security officer from the port guard during the daytime and two staff at night, and should improve general security at the site, Pak Sik said.

ak Sugiri, Kiln Area Patroller, Cilacap, was the proud winner of the professional Canon DSLR 1100D digital camera, which he received for participating in Berita Kita's 2011 Readers Survey.
Sugiri’s name was drawn by Director for Relationship Management Rusli Setiawan from more than 300 surveys sent to Berita Kita. He received the prize from Corporate Communications Officer Novi Maryanti on February 8 at Cilacap Plant and then spent half day of training in photography skills by Berita Kita photographer Abe Lienardo. When asked what suggestions he had made in the survey, Sugiri said it would be good if Berita Kita was accessible online, preferably via Holcim Indonesia’s intranet system, which he said was available to patrollers at their Base Camp. “It would also be good to have stories about operating companies in the group from outside Indonesia, so we could see what the rest of the companies in the group are doing.” A full explanation of the survey results will be included in March’s Berita Kita.

atching plant waralaba ketiga akan diresmikan pertengahan Februari ini setelah konsep dimatangkan dengan baik pada tahun 2011 lalu, jelas RMX Franchise Manager yang baru, Widodo Ariawan.
Widodo, yang sebelumnya mengepalai unit Customer Care, paham sulitnya suatu bisnis menjadikan pelanggan sebagai fokus utama dan beratnya mengikuti standar Holcim. Dua hal penting ini yang harus diterapkan pada BP waralaba yang dipelopori Holcim di Indonesia. "Tugas sekarang berbeda dengan yang dulu karena kini klien utama saya adalah pewaralaba, yaitu pemilik yang harus memikirkan kegiatan usaha termasuk biaya, penjualan dan keuntungan," jelas Widodo, yang menempati posisi barunya pada 1 November lalu. "Untuk memakai nama kita, mereka membayar royalti, dan timbal-baliknya, kita membantu mereka mengelola usahanya.“ "Selain itu kita harus menjaga agar pelanggan mereka puas, demi menjaga nama baik Holcim." Menurutnya, tantangannya adalah bagaimana agar perawalaba serius menjalankan konsep yang diterapkan Holcim menyangkut kegiatan utama bisnis, kesehatan, keselamatan kerja dan lingkungan hidup. Sesuai perkiraan, ada persoalan yang harus ditangani dua BP waralaba terdahulu di Probolinggo dan Solo, yang diresmikan November 2010 dan April 2011, saat mulai berjalan. Waralaba Probolinggo harus menghadapi pesaing yang gencar menekan harga. Widodo mengunjungi mereka di bulan November untuk memberi masukan tentang optimalisasi desain produk dan pelatihan tambahan di bidang penjualan untuk staf di sana. Di Solo, Widodo dan timnya menjelaskan pengalaman Holcim menangani kontraktor yang merupakan BUMN besar untuk mengoptimalkan likuiditas kas. Unit waralaba berikut akan dibuka di Bali 18 Februari. BP tersebut terletak di Denpasar, dan produk mereka akan dipasok ke sejumlah proyek besar pembangunan prasarana di Pulau Dewata, termasuk perluasan Bandara Internasional Ngurah Rai. Ada pula dua unit MiniMix untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pelanggan dari sektor perumahan di Denpasar. "Unit waralaba tersebut akan terus kami sempurnakan, dan kami akan evaluasi sudah seberapa jauh kemajuannya pada pertengahan 2012," kata Juhans Suryantan, yang sebelumnya menjabat sebagai RMX General Manager. ith a third franchised batching plant to open this February, 2011 was a year of carefully refining the franchise concept, says new RMX Franchise Manager Widodo Ariawan.
The former head of Customer Care, Widodo knows how tough it can be to make a business truly customer focused and Holcim compliant. Customers and compliance are two key issues in dealing with the franchise Batching Plants, a concept Holcim is pioneering in Indonesia. “What’s different from my old job is that here my primary customers are the franchisees; the owners who are thinking about their businesses – costs, sales and the bottom line,” says Widodo, who transferred to the position on November 1. “They’re paying us a royalty to use our name and in return, we’re expected to help them manage their business." “But we also have to make sure they keep their customers happy as well, otherwise we won’t be protecting the Holcim brand.” The challenge, he says, is to ensure the franchisees buy in to the Holcim standard for core operations, health, safety and the environment. As expected, the two existing franchisees, Probolinggo and Solo, which opened in November 2010 and April 2011 have had to iron out some teething problems.
In Probolinggo a competitor was aggressively competing on price. Widodo visited the franchisee in November, advising them on how to optimise their product design and ensuring staff there undergo extra sales training. In Solo, Widodo and his team shared Holcim’s experience how to effectively manage the accounts of large state-owned contractors to optimise cash liquidity. The next step for the franchise business is in Bali, where a building supplier and distributor opened the third franchise on February 18. The plant, located in Denpasar, is expected to supply some major infrastructure projects on the island, including the extension of the Ngurah Rai International Airport. It will also operate two MiniMix units to offer solutions to Denpasar’s residential customers. “We’ll keep perfecting these businesses, and by mid-2012, we’ll re-evaluate our progress,” says Juhans Suryantan, former RMX General Manager. “We’re moving forward, but we’re still learning too.“ Next month: The Bali franchise opens.

Jambi Work Inspires Chinese Visit

eberhasilan Geocycle memusnahkan limbah sisa pengeboran Mont D'Or Oil Tungkal di Jambi dengan metode yang aman hingga tuntas menarik perhatian wakil perusahaan PetroChina yang melakukan kunjungan ke Narogong Januari lalu.
"Kegiatan utama PetroChina di Indonesia berlangsung di ladang Jabung yang terletak di Jambi, Sumatra," jelas Ita Sadono, Communication and Relations Manager Geocycle. Seperti kegiatan pengeboran pada umumnya, PetroChina juga menghasilkan kerak oli dan bahan kimia maupun limbah biasa, jelasnya.
Pada tanggal 25 Januari Environmental Health and Safety Manager PetroChina, Randolf Bledoeg, berkeliling di sekitar area pengisian limbah Geocycle dan Megadome Storage Facility, serta menyaksikan presentasi seputar proses pemusnahan limbah yang dilakukan Geocycle.
"Mereka (PetroChina) tahu tentang kegiatan Geocycle dari laporan yang disusun salah satu klien kami yang terakhir, Mont D'Or Tungkal, yang samasama beroperasi di Jambi," kata Ita.
Ia didampingi empat orang lainnya dari perusahaannya, dan bersama Maulana Yusup dari Departemen Lingkungan Hidup BPMigas, mendapat penjelasan tentang solusi penanggulangan limbah menyeluruh yang ditawarkan dan pengalaman Geocycle selama ini dalam mengumpulkan, mengangkut, menyimpan dan mengolah limbah untuk industri minyak dan gas bumi.

Sepanjang bulan November dan Desember tahun lalu, tim Geocycle yang beranggotakan 15 orang dikirim untuk membersihkan limbah berbahaya maupun tidak berbahaya di empat lokasi proyek Mont D'Or Tungkal, termasuk di lahan-lahan yang tercemari kerak oli. Tempat yang dibersihkan antara lain lokasi pembuangan limbah biasa dan pembuangan peralatan serta dua flare pit dan lokasi "flare pad".
"Di beberapa tempat ada limbah minyak yang bercampur air dan bahan kimia lain," jelas Doni Masditok, Safety Health and Environment Manager Mount D'Or, yang mengawasi kegiatan operasi. "Kami harus membuang cairan yang ada dari lokasi tersebut dengan menggunakan pompa, lalu memisahkan kotoran di dalamnya, setelah itu menyimpan dan mengamankan cairan tadi, dan selanjutnya menggali tanah yang tercemar untuk kemudian juga disimpan dan diangkut." Cairan maupun limbah tanah lalu dimusnahkan di fasilitas co-processing milik Geocycle. "Mont D'Or puas dengan apa yang kami kerjakan," kata Ita. "Metode pemusnahan limbah kami, dilihat dari segi keamanan dan lingkungan hidup, sangat diakui BPMigas maupun Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup, dan promosi dari mulut ke mulut inilah yang menunjang keberhasilan usaha kami."

On January 25, PetroChina’s Environmental Health and Safety Manager, Randolf Bledoeg, toured the Geocycle waste feeding area and the Megadome Storage Facility, and sat down to a presentation on Geocycle’s waste disposal.
gathering, transporting, storing and processing waste for the oil and gas industry. “PetroChina’s main operation in Indonesia is in the Jabung field, located in Jambi, Sumatra,” said Ita Sadono, Geocycle Communication and Relations Manager. Like most drilling operations, PetroChina generated significant amounts of oil sludge and chemicals as well as more conventional waste from their operations, she said. “Actually, they (PetroChina) found out about our work, from a report by one of our last clients, Mont D’Or Tungkal, who also operates in Jambi,” Ita said.
Accompanied by four other representatives from the company, along with Maulana Yusup of Indonesian upstream regulator BPMigas, the group learned about Geocycle’s total waste solutions service, and its experience
“In several areas, oil and water and other chemicals were mixed together,” says Doni Masditok, Mount D’Or Safety Health and Environment Manager, who supervised the operation. “We needed to drain the liquid from the area, using pumps, separate it from impurities, and store the liquids safely, and then dig up the contaminated soil, and store and transport that too.” The liquid and soil waste will then disposed of in Geocycle’s co-processing facilities.
During November and December last year, a 15-strong Geocycle team cleaned up hazardous and non-hazardous waste from four separate locations at Mont D’Or Tungkal’s operating site, including areas of land contaminated by oil sludge. These included a general waste and machinery disposal area along with two flare pits and a “flare pad” site.
"Mont D’Or was pleased with the job we did,” Ita says. “Our level of disposal, in terms of safety and the environment, is ranked highly by both BPMigas and the Ministry of the Environment. "This word-of-mouth recommendation is very important to the success of our business.”

Mereka lulus dan diakui sebagai teknisi semen oleh Holcim Indonesia, dan menerima Diploma Teknik Mesin dari Politeknik Negeri Jakarta, dengan keahlian khusus di bidang perawatan, produksi, penambangan dan pengawasan mutu manufaktur semen.

In 2011, some of the graduates had the unique opportunity to be involved in and contribute to Narogong’s kiln shell replacement work carried out in February 2011, said Reni Wulandari EVE Coordinator.
The fourth batch of the Holcim Academy EVE students – 13 men and two women – held their graduation ceremony at Holcim Narogong’s Club House on the afternoon January 25.
“Aries Budi Djajariyanto (Narogong Production Manager) said he was really impressed with their input during the replacement and mentioned this at the ceremony,” she said.
Manufacturing Director Lilik Unggul gave the keynote speech at the ceremony and congratulated the graduates on their achievement passing the three-year programme. “You have done a lot of work in this programme, both theoretical and practical,” he said. “Don’t forget the importance of teamwork, and of the need to continue studying while on the job, because none of us ever stop learning.”
“This batch was a hardworking bunch and their parents have good reason to be proud of them,” she added.
The graduates were certified as cement technicians by Holcim Indonesia , receiving diplomas of mechanical engineering from the Jakarta National Polytech (Politeknik Negeri Jakarta), with specialisation in maintenance, production, quarry work and quality control of cement manufacturing.
Other speeches came from Reni and two maintenance workshop representatives, Djoko Nursanto, Naragong EVE Workshop Supervisor, and Agus Muljono a former EVE Workshop Supervisor. The graduation ceremony ended after certificates were given to the students. Since the EVE programme began in 2005, a total of 120 people have graduated from the programme. erita Kita menemui Melisa Budiman yang baru saja lulus program EVE dan kini menjadi Chemical Test Analyst di Pabrik Narogong.
Berita Kita: Bagaimana Anda bisa ikut program Enterprise-based Vocational Education (EVE)? Melisa: Saya lulus dari Akademi Kimia Analis Bogor, dan bekerja di perusahaan farmasi sebelum masuk program. Ada teman yang cerita tentang EVE namun saya tidak begitu tertarik karena latar pendidikan saya kimia sementara EVE lebih fokus ke pendidikan teknik. Saya berubah pikiran, dan ikut tes untuk mengukur kemampuan diri sendiri. Ternyata saya lulus.

Berita Kita: How did you end up doing the Enterprise-based Vocational Education (EVE) programme? Melisa: Before I joined the scheme, I’d graduated from the Academy of Chemical Analysis in Bogor, and was working in a pharmaceutical company. My friend told me about EVE, but at the time I wasn’t too interested because my background is chemistry and I thought EVE was more mechanically focused. But I ended up thinking “okay, I’ll take the test and see my result.” Turned out I was accepted.
BK: Langkah Anda selanjutnya?
BK: So what did you do then?
MB: Saya kurang puas dengan pekerjaan di kantor lama, jadi saya putuskan untuk masuk EVE karena sepertinya Holcim menjanjikan masa depan yang lebih bagus. Pabrik semen dikenal sebagai tempat kerja kaum pria, dan EVE sifatnya agak teknis. Dengan penampilan yang menurut saya agak tomboy, sepertinya, "Keren juga kalau perempuan menangani pekerjaan laki-laki, jadi kesempatan itu saya ambil!"
MB: Well, my job at the time wasn’t very satisfying, so I joined EVE because I figured Holcim would give me a better future. Cement plants have a reputation as being quite masculine places, and EVE was quite technical. I guess I look a bit like a tomboy, and I thought “that’s cool if a woman can do a job like a man, what the heck, I’ll give it a try!”
BK: Ceritakan sedikit tentang EVE?
MB: EVE was three-year diploma course, two years learning about the plant and one year’s specialization – for me this was in the laboratory. It was like a scholarship but we also got paid a salary – basically on-the-job-training.
MB: EVE itu program diploma tiga; dua tahun kita belajar seluk-beluk pabrik, dan selebihnya kita mengambil kekhususan - bidang saya sendiri laboratorium. Sama seperti program beasiswa tapi kita menerima gaji, jadi pada dasarnya EVE ini pelatihan kerja. Saya belajar segala hal - tentang mesin, kelistrikan, produksi - dan membantu pekerja kontrak dalam menjalankan tugas. Banyak pelajaran yang saya dapat: yang mungkin tidak akan saya dapat ditempat lain, dan sebagai perempuan saya bangga bisa melakukan ini dan masuk ke dunia yang lain. Saya salah satu dari dua siswi yang lulus. BK: Bisa jelaskan pekerjaan Anda saat ini? MB: Sesuai key performance indicator, tugas saya adalah menjaga agar proses analisis contoh klinker dan bahan mentah di laboratorium berjalan sesuai standar. Tes harus teliti dan akurat, dan secara berkala hasilnya dibandingkan dengan referensi. Target kami adalah laboratorium harus mendapat ISO 17025 (standar umum kompetensi uji dan kalibrasi), dan akreditasi internasional tersebut berhasil kami raih pada tanggal 15 Desember. Saya bangga dengan keberhasilan kami!

BK: Tell us a little bit about EVE?
I got the opportunity to learn about everything – mechanical, electrical, production – and help contractors do their jobs. It was a great lesson for me: maybe I wouldn’t have got that in another place, and I’m proud I could do that as a woman, it was another world for me to enter. I graduated as one of two women on the course. BK: Can you describe your current position? MB: My key performance indicator is to make sure the process laboratory analysis of clinker and raw meal samples can be trusted. You have to be precise and accurate with your tests and periodically compare process results with references. Our aim has been was to attain the international ISO 17025 accreditation for our lab [general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration] and we managed it on Dec 15. So that’s something I can be proud of!

HIL awarded by Dompet Dhuafa
olcim Indonesia menjadi satu dari 20 perusahaan yang mendapat penghargaan Charta Peduli Award untuk kategori Pendidikan berkat program sosial yang diselenggarakan perusahaan pada tahun 2011 dari lembaga amal non-pemerintah, Dompet Dhuafa. Penghargaan diterima Dharmawan Reksodiputro, Community Relations Manager Narogong, mewakili Holcim. Tahun lalu Pabrik Narogong menyerahkan pengurusan Sekolah Semen Cibinong kepada Dompet Dhuafa.

olcim Indonesia was one of 20 companies appreciated by national welfare non-governmental organisation Dompet Dhuafa when the company received a Charta Peduli Award for “Top Performance in Education” for its 2011 corporate social responsibility programme. The award was received for Holcim by Dharmawan Reksodiputro, Narogong Community Relations Manager. Last year, Narogong Plant handed over management of the former Semen Cibonong School to the charitable foundation.

Almarhum adalah anggota tim inti Fire Crew di Departement OH&S, Pabrik Cilacap, dan orang akan mengenang Pak Abdul sebagai sosok yang penuh dedikasi, memiliki semangat juang yang amat besar dan tetap jenaka meski sakit selama dua tahun terakhir. Ia meninggal pada usia 51. Semoga arwahnya diterima Yang Maha Kuasa.
Crusher and Yard Team Leader ini baru berusia 43 tahun ketika meninggal karena serangan jantung. Pak Amin dikenal sebagai pekerja keras dan mampu menyelesaikan tugas dengan baik meski kesehatannya mulai mengganggu pekerjaan. Doa kami untuk keluarga yang ditinggalkan.
A key member of the Fire Crew in the OH&S Department, Cilacap Plant, Pak Abdul will be remembered as a dedicated employee with tremendous morale, who kept his sense of humor despite suffering from ailments during the last two years of his life. He was 51. May he rest in peace.
The Crusher and Yard Team Leader was aged 43 when he died of a heart attack. Pak Amin will be remembered as a hard worker who finished jobs even when his health began to fail him. Our hearts go out to his family.

Almarhum yang bekerja sebagai Territorial Sales Officer dari Region 1, meninggal pada usia 44 tahun bulan lalu akibat serangan jantung. "Anggoro punya selera humor yang luar biasa. Ia selalu membuat orang tertawa; hatinya baik dan selalu bisa menerima orang lain," kenang rekan dan sahabatnya, Ria Siahaan, dari Marketing Systems & Processes.
English Trainer dari Akademi Holcim ini meninggal dunia akibat serangan jantung pada usia 37 tahun. Rekan kerjanya, Yeni Lidya, mengenang Nurul semasa hidup: "Nuzee penuh semangat, selalu membuat segala sesuatu menyenangkan; ia juga baik dan ringan tangan membantu orang lain, lucu dan mudah bergaul.".
The Territorial Sales officer from Region 1, died at 44 last month from a heart attack. “Anggoro was a man with a terrific sense of humor. He was always making people laugh and he had a kind heart that was always open to people,” said workmate and friend, Ria Siahaan, Marketing Systems & Processes.
The English Trainer for Holcim Academy died from a heart attack at 37 years old. Her colleague Yeni Lidya commented: "Nuzee’s energy meant she always made things fun, she was kind and helpful to others. She had many original ideas, a cool sense of humor and was easy to get along with.”
