Grammar Notes To indicate your mode of transportation, use the word naik, which means, “to go by,” followed by the form of transportation. To inquire about someone’s form of transportation, use the question word apa. Hence, naik apa kesini means, “How do/did you come here?” Naik apa Rulli ke sekolah? How does Rulli go to school? Dia naik bis ke sekolah. He goes by bus to school. Zaman dulu, orang naik sado ke mana-mana. In the past, people used chariots to go everywhere. “Yang mana?” is used when asking, “Which one?” or “What one?” It follows the noun it modifies. When answering, you may use yang, with or without the noun it modifies. This is because the noun is implied within the context. Therefore, when answering, you would be correct to use the noun or to leave it out. Bis yang mana yang ke sekolah kita? Nomor 14. Bis yang nomor 14.
Which bus is going to take us to school? Number 14. The number 14 bus
