“A” Note There is always a beginning for everything that happens in everyone life. Many times everyone shares a common beginning. It can be a situation, a community, an experience in life, or an accident. People may freely name it. However the decision we make to respond to it creates the difference.
VDMS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Everyone is born to be a leader but it surely takes a decision to live a life with values as a leader. A leader cannot hide because a leader is a person of improvement whose life generates the spirit of leader into other people. I am Firman Laia. Greetings to all of you fellow alumni. It is an honor for me to have a chance to meet you all here, people who have decided to be a leader. I am always amazed with the fact that we have been through a common phase of beginning in life which was as a college student. We also have great experiences with VDMS. How great is the impact when we could align all our potentials into a common vision? Dear alumnus, now we have had the Alumni Association (AA) of VDMS as a media for us to get connected and share some potentials and ideas. I would like to encourage you all to get more involved with the vision that we are trying to realize through the regular activities from AA. Anyway, reading this e-newsletter is really a big step! There are so many worthy things in it.

Diary of a Leader Seven Inspiring Days SATURDAY – HAVE A GOAL Think ahead. Visualize your future. Set your target. Design your strategy. Plan before you start. Be flexible in your tactics, but keep on track. Strive after your dreams, but stay realistic.
SUNDAY – TAKE ACTION, TAKE RISKS Act and run risk. Calculate your risks, but stay moving. Failure may be an outcome. That’s part of the game. Learn from it. It adds to your experience. But never blame others, when you fail. That makes you stronger.
MONDAY – BE PROACTIVE Visualize the near future. Anticipate on what is coming. Be faster than your opponent, be faster than your competitor. Don’t be pushed to react. You are the leader, not the follower.
TUESDAY – BE CRITICAL Explore and scrutinize arguments. Always ask: why? How come? Is it true? Distrust the ‘automatic pilot’ used in the past. Be critical in a constructive way.
WEDNESDAY – BE CREATIVE Leave the traditional path, step aside. You will find the flowers in a nearby field. Give room to the unexpected. No: ”Yes, but...” Free your mind. Think out of the box. Think lateral. Don’t dig deeper, dig on another place. THURSDAY – BE DEMOCRATIC Listen carefully to your team, listen to your society. Absorb their opinions and standpoints. But always keep in mind, that you have to take the decision. That you are the leader, that it is your decision.
FRIDAY – SHARE YOUR POWER Don’t keep the power with you. Share it, be transparent. Guard your integrety. Be consistent. A word is a word. Involve and committ your team, be it two or a 1000. In the end people wholeheartedly will accept you as their leader.

RR Yogyakarta Reshuffle
EVENTS
Central Java – Jogjakarta. Regional Representative held a reshuffle meeting of RR members on Saturday, September 1st 2012 in VDMS Office at Jalan Purwanggan no.09 Yogyakarta. Seven alumni attended the meeting. The reason of the reshuffle was that Mujiman as the chairman hold also a position as a treasurer of Alumni Committee. So, he had to choose the two positions because it might cause a conflict of interest, between AC and RR Yogyakarta. The participants showed high enthusiasm. In the beginning, Ibu Pariasih Manoto as the office manager explained about VDMS in Brief: the history, the partners, and introduced the new VDMS board member to the participants. It was really interesting because not all alumni knew much about the history of VDMS and the partners. After that, Pungky gave an explanation about Alumni Association: what Alumni Association is, the goals, logo, the activities, Alumni Committee, and media. The participants paid their full attention to this explanation because they wanted to participate in Alumni Association as members of RR Yogyakarta. It was continued by Jessica who explained and demonstrated how to join and update data in MAS (Membership Administration System). Mujiman as the previous chairman gave the explanation about RR, requirements, and responsibilities. From this exciting meeting, the new structure of RRYogyakarta -Central Java was established. The new structure is: Chairperson : Nizamuddin Sadiq (USD) Secretary : Yana Prihati (UKSW) Treasurer : Imas Istiani (UNNES) Member : Nathaniel Ramandey (UKDW) UGM Ambassador : Vicky Primandani (UGM) The Question and answer section made a great impact on the new RR Yogyakarta. They got what they wanted to know about the responsibilities they hold.
discussed some plans for the next alumni events. The planned events of the new RR Yogyakarta and Central Java are: 1. Workshop: “Formula 33” An English training with a method called “Formula 33”. It will give participants the tips and trick “how to understand English correctly and quickly”. 2. Alumni Gathering Either formal (kind of seminar) or non-formal (mini reunion) 3. Start a Business for Alumni (Seminar) 4. Charity For this social activity we can join a social institution or organization with the proposed field education. The last but not least of this meeting was the explanation of the rules of events. The meeting was closed by Mujiman. At this event, Alumni Association sold 5 alumni t-shirts. The alumni t-shirt will be useful for gathering, meeting or any other event. So, this t-shirt will become our identity as an alumnus of Van Deventer - Maas Stichting Grantee.
The brainstorming session went well. The new RR Yogyakarta Congratulations for new RR Yogyakarta! Keep spirit to accomplish our goal! See you on the next RR Yogyakarta’s event. Learn, Share, and Encourage

Formula 33

Sumpel merupakan gabungan tiga istilah yakni auxiliary verbs, to be dan modals.

Nothing is done. Everything in the world remains to be done or done over. The greatest picture is not yet painted, the greatest play isn’t written, the greatest poem is unsung. There isn't in all the world a perfect railroad, nor a good government, nor a sound law. Physics, mathematics, and especially the most advanced and exact of the sciences, are being fundamentally revised. Chemistry is just becoming a science; psychology, economics, and sociology are waiting a Darwin, whose work in turn is awaiting an Einstein. If the rah-rah boys in our colleges could be told this, they might not all be specialists in football, parties, and unearned degrees. They are not told it, however; they are told to learn what is known. This is nothing.
Nothing is done. Everything waits for you to do it!!
