Indeling naar oorzaak: 1.  Echte epilepsie -  Erfelijke epilepsie -  Idiopathische epilepsie (cryptogeen?) 2.  Secundaire epilepsie - tgv iets in het hoofd 3.  Valse epilepsie - tgv iets buiten het hoofd (voorheen reactief)
