On the island of Papua, Cocoa Kerafat was introduced during the Dutch colonial era. Until today, the beans are still farmed by local people. Especially in the district of Jayapura, cocoa serves as a major crop for their livelihoods. Referring to the country that once introduced cocoa beans on Papua the people also call this cacao with name of Kakao Belanda (Dutch Cocoa).
They are resistant to diseases, have larger fruits, and produce more high quality cocoa beans with a heavier volume than other types of cocoa. And last but not least: the chocolate that is made of it has a distinctive and elegant taste.
