The Gestel quarter is located to the southwest of the Eindhoven city center. It is a haven for artists, yuppies and a cheerful mixture of cultures. Especially the Hoogstraat, Gestelsestraat and Rivierenstraat triangle is currently under development with all new, unique stores. Gestel is lavishly provided with green and water. The softly flowing Dommel, Gender and Tongelreep make living here extra attractive. Close to the center you will find the Genneper Parken, with a swimming pool and an ice skating rink, scenic areas and educational facilities. With fifty cafes Stratumseind is the longest cafe-street of the Netherlands. Anyone who goes further into the quarter will leave behind meters of beer and enters a green oasis. For instance in the exclusive residential village the Elzent, whose name is derived from the alders (‘elzen’) that grow here. Remarkable are the buildings in the Amsterdam School style. But history really comes to life in the Historisch OpenluchtMuseum Eindhoven. The museum consists of the reconstructed ‘Eversham’ village dating back to the Iron Age, a farmstead from 1100 and the medieval city of ‘Endehoven’. As a visitor, you enter a time machine to live a day in the past. Do you prefer to enjoy the quietude? Then go to the Stadswandelpark to picnic, feed the ducks, admire art or enjoy one of the regular performances in the bandstand. The neighboring Parktheater program will take you into the wonderful world of theatre. And for more imagination and inspiration visit the Van Abbemuseum. One of the major museums of modern art in Europe.

Met vijftig cafés is Stratumseind de langste caféstraat van Nederland. Ga je verder de wijk in, dan laat je de meters bier achter je en kom je terecht in een groene oase. Zoals in de villawijk de Elzent, die haar naam dankt aan de elzen die er groeien. Opmerkelijk zijn de gebouwen in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School. Maar historie gaat echt leven in het Historisch OpenluchtMuseum Eindhoven. Het museum bestaat uit een reconstructie van het dorpje ‘Eversham’ uit de ijzertijd, een boerenhoeve van rond 1100 en het middeleeuwse stadje ‘Endehoven’. Als bezoeker ga je als het ware in een tijdmachine en draai je een dagje mee in het verleden.

Heempark Frater Simon Deltour

Tegenover het Milieu Educatie Centrum ligt het Heempark Frater Simon Deltour. Op ongeveer drie hectare vind je uitsluitend inheemse planten uit de Kempen en de Meierij. In een klein deel van het Heempark is een wilde plantentuin aangelegd waar je veel groen van elders in de regio kunt zien. Ze staan gerangeerd in vakken, zodat je gemakkelijk je kennis van wilde planten op peil houdt of juist vergroot. Tijdens de schoolvakanties kunnen kinderen tot negen jaar verschillende natuurbelevingspaden bewandelen.

Opposite the Milieu Educatie Centrum is the Heempark Frater Simon Deltour. On approximately 3 hectare you will find native plants from the Kempen and Meierij regions. A small part of the botanical garden houses an area with wild plants, where you can see many of the plants that grow in the region. Various groups of plants are standing next to each other in beds, so that you can easily retain or expand your knowledge of wild plants. During the summer break children up to 9 years of age can walk the various nature experience paths!

Woensel is one of the quarters in Eindhoven that dates back to the Middle Ages. At least, that’s what archeologists say. To us it’s all the same. Now you can find numerous small restaurants, pubs and of course hookers here. For real sports you go to sports complex Eindhoven. For instance for a game of paintball of tennis. In the Woensel churches creative people keep art on a high level. All in all a complete and pleasant area!

Er zijn nú in elk geval talloze eettentjes, kroegen en natuurlijk hoeren. Echt sporten doe je in sportcomplex Eindhoven. Een beetje paintballen of tennissen. Ook huizen er in de Woenselse kerken creatieve mensen die het kunstniveau in de wijk op peil houden. Al met al een complete en gezellige wijk!

Met een aanbod van meer dan 170 winkels waaronder supermarkten, restaurants en terrassen is het een van de grootste winkelcentra van Nederland en heeft het een belangrijke regionale functie voor noord Eindhoven en de omliggende gemeenten.

Shopping center Woensel, also called WoensXL after its renovation, has expanded in size by 50% in the past three years and got a make-over as well. With more than 170 stores, supermarkets, restaurants and outdoor cafés it is one of the larger shopping centers in the Netherlands, with an important regional function in the northern part of Eindhoven and the surrounding towns.

Waar te beginnen bij Strijp? Het stadsdeel werd deels gebombardeerd, weer opgebouwd en weer afgebroken. Verandering is hier het sleutelwoord. Denk aan Meerhoven, Eindhoven Airport en Strijp-S. Vooral aan laatstgenoemde wordt door gemeente en uiteenlopende initiatiefnemers hard gewerkt om het een begrip in het Eindhovense te maken. Maar het zijn niet alleen veranderingen die het straatbeeld in Strijp bepalen. Het Philips Stadion is één van de weinige stadions in Nederland dat midden in de stad staat. Zoals het hoort.

Where to start in Strijp? This part of the city was bombed, built-up and torn down again. Change is the key word here. Think of Meerhoven, Eindhoven Airport and Strijp-S. The Municipality and various initiators are particularly hard at work to make Strijp-S a household word in Eindhoven. But it is not just the changes that determine the scene in Strijp. The Philips Stadium is one of the few stadiums in the Netherlands located in the middle of the city. The way it should be.

Plan-2 is de nieuwe, tijdelijke bewoner van oud industrieel Philips-erfgoed en momenteel gehuisvest in het Klokgebouw. Vanuit het niets ‘maar alvast begonnen’, met als resultaat een goed restaurant met een brede culturele programmering. Plan-2 laat zich het beste omschrijven door de uitspraken ‘tijdelijk karakter’, ‘voor alle leeftijden’, ‘eten, drinken, dansen en kijken’ en ‘elke dag anders’. Samengevat: ‘wegens omstandigheden geopend’.

Plan-2 is the new, temporary inhabitant of old Philips industrial heritage, currently located in the Klokgebouw. Started from scratch, but already resulting in a good restaurant and a wide cultural programming. Plan-2 is best described as ‘temporary character’, ‘for all ages’, ‘eat, drink, dance and watch’ and ‘every day something different’. In short: ‘open due to circumstances’.

We are a creative ceramics studio where mentally challenged people dive into fun and inspiring projects. We cast, paint and bake colorful ceramic products. Together with the stars of the Drie-Ster we also come up with other challenges. Such as mosaic works or brightening up old furniture. Vroeger maakte Tongelre deel uit van Helmond, maar of de huidige inwoners daar iets van willen weten, is de vraag. Natuurlijk is ’t Hofke het kloppend hart van Tongelre, maar staan de Doornakkers-West en Oost tegenwoordig meer in de picture dankzij de Top 40 van minister Ella Vogelaar. Verder brengt het water recreatieplezier: kanovaren in de Dommel, picknicken aan de Karpendonkse Plas en natuurlijk lekker plonzen in de Ijzeren man. Er zijn ook nog eens fantastische wandelroutes in het stadsdeel. Zo kun je langs Groendomein Wasven lopen en een bezoek brengen aan de gasterij of de bakkerij ‘Tussen de Molens’.

In days past Tongelre was part of Helmond, but we are wondering if the current inhabitants are happy with that referral. Of course ’t Hofke is the beating heart of Tongelre, but currently the Doornakkers-West and Oost are really in de picture thanks to minister Ella Vogelaar’s Top 40. The water guarantees pure recreational pleasure: canoeing in the Dommel, picnicking near the Karpendonkse Plas and of course taking a pleasant plunge in the IJzeren man. On top of that there are fantastic scenic routes in the district. For example you could walk by Groendomein Wasven and pay a visit to the guesthouse or the bakery ‘Tussen de Molens’.
