Appendix 1: Living independent Appendix 1 gives a more detail view on the reasons why more and more older adults live on their own.
Why do more and more older adults live independent? An increasing number of older adults are living on their own. Currently only 4 % of the Dutch older adults live in a care facility. The CBS expects this group to decrease by 20% from 2001 to 2020 [4, 16]. Reasons for this development are diverse. There are multiple reasons why we should stimulate their preference to stay independent. In this paragraph the three main reasons will be discussed. Own preference The first reason is the preference of the older adults themselves. They prefer to live independently in a familiar setting. The comments in figure 1.1 on a Dutch forum support this view.
The older adults of the future, the protest generation, are very strongly focused on actively taking part in society and staying involved and integrated in the world around them (more information in paragraph 1.3. Older adults who move away from their familiar setting to live closer to family often experience a profound sense of loss and disengagement from their surroundings. By maintaining in a familiar setting it is easier to stay in touch with the society around them. Several studies have demonstrated the importance of control and social engagement for the well-being of the older adult [15, 20].

The number of older adults will double from 2001 to 2020 while the group of people providing the care stays the same. The number of older adults increases because of the babyboom and the longer life-expectancy due to an increase in the quality of healthcare. In the 1950 the expected lifespan of a male was 70,4 whereas in 2007 it was 78,0. In the future even better health care will be available. This will continue to cause a discrepancy between the amounts of older adults versus young adults. The government wants to lower the pressure. A way to decrease this pressure is by postponing

Good for health A third reason for aging in place is health. It is better for the health of an older adult to live independent. Social engagement and control have a positive effect on the health of an older adult. To become old generally leads to fewer social commitments and increased self-focusedness1. Older adults often miss the spontaneous contact with peers. Relational stimulation and support can protect against a spectrum of illnesses [22]. Stimuli from the surroundings are important for mental and physical health. By living in a diverse neighborhood it is easier for the older adult to receive stimuli from people and things around him. This gives the older adult a more opportunities. Social engagement can be seen as an indicator and predictor of the health status of an older adult. The better the health conditions, the more likely an older adult is socially active [15, 20, 22]. Control is also beneficial for the well being of an older adult. Control is then seen as the ability to make decisions regarding the choice of activity, method and manner of engagement, time, pace and the like (Rowe & Kahn, 1987). and opportunities [15] Living independent leads to being responsible for yourself. This triggers people to actively take care of themselves. Being active is also good for health. Older adults often fear the risk of isolation and loneliness when living alone. Research however shows that loneliness isn’t a typical characteristic of old age. Older adults aren’t lonelier than other age groups. However they might experience more problems due to loneliness then other age groups. They might need help from others and social contact is beneficial for their health. Research into the topic of loneliness in connection with living independent shows that loneliness is less common for older adults living independently in comparison to older adults in a care facility. A study shows that 80% of the independently living older adults hardly to never feel lonely.2

Appendix 2: Aging
Appendix 2: Aging Appendix 2 gives an overview of the main changes which occur when humans get older. First the structural changes are discussed en secondly the sensory changes and in the end the memory related changes. As people get older, health deteriorates. At some point in time many senior citizens are unable to do all everyday activities by themselves anymore. They need help. In this paragraph the consequences of getting older are discussed based on related work on the physical, psychological, and social changes due to aging1. When a change occurs in one area of a person’s life, the other two tend to be affected as well. The process of ageing affects all people, even though the rate of decline varies, at a certain age everybody’s human functioning will decrease in capacity.
Physical changes Physical changes as a result of aging are mainly caused by a gradual loss of strength, flexibility and efficiency. These losses often begin in early adulthood, but the actual loss is not experienced until it is fairly extensive. The ageing process affects all people. Physical aging can be accelerated by an illness or trauma. The older people get, the bigger the chances of encountering severe illnesses or injuries which can result in physical disabilities [13]. At age 75 about 76% have physical disabilities while 18% have severe physical disabilities. At the age of 85 the percentages increase to 87% 1

and 44%, respectively [13]. Physical aging can make living independent difficult for a senior citizen. The deterioration of health causes them to have difficulties in performing tasks needed in daily life. They need to be supported to complete the daily tasks. Structural Skeleton Many body dimensions change when people get older. Many body segments get smaller and the ‘cushion’ between the vertebrae flattens. This causes older adults to be shorter then they were in younger years.
Skin The skin loses elasticity, which results in wrinkles. The skin also becomes thinner and therefore more susceptible to being broken or cut. Sensory Our senses pick up stimuli from the outer world. The quality of perception depends on the quality of the senses and our cognitive capacities. The incoming stimuli need to be compared to experience and knowledge present in the longterm memory. However often cognitive capacities have decreased, which can affect perception. This is partially compensated because older adults have a lot of experience. Taste The sensitivity of the taste buds decreases. First sweet and salty decline, bitter and sour decline more slowly. Changes in taste may cause a decrease in appetite. Smell The sensitivity of smell decreases as well. This can also have an effect on the older adult’s appetite.
Vision Visual capacities decrease. This already starts early and rapidly from the age of 50 or 54 years. It continues to decrease but not as rapidly. The main aspects of vision that decrease are: Distance: It becomes harder for the lens of the eye to accommodate changes in dis- tance vision. Light: The pupil becomes smaller, therefore it permits less light to enter. Here for older adults often need more light than younger people. Color: It becomes more difficult to disthin- guish blue from green and pink from yellow. The more similar the shade the more difficult. Depth: Depth perception becomes harder. This can affect an older adult’s mobil- ity and cause them to shuffle to ensure stable footing. Print: It becomes harder to focus the less on small print. Often it becomes hard to read the newspaper. Hearing As with vision the most rapid decrease in auditory perception takes place just before the age of 50 or 54 years, after that the decrease continues but not as rapidly. The loudness of sound has to exceed a certain level. The level is dependent on the frequency of the signal. High frequencies are harder to hear for older adults. Effects of physical restrictions Older adults often are not capable of solving
all their problems them selves. They need help from other. This help can be given by formal or informal caregivers. When informal caregivers are involved the relationship between the older adult and the informal caregiver might change. Also relations ships with others might be influenced by the physical restriction. Before they might go cycling whereas that is not possible anymore. A decline in the activity level is also caused by the physical restrictions. A lower activity level often goes hand in hand with social disengagement. This is dangerous for older adults. Research has shown that social engagement has profound health benefits. Relational stimulation and support can protect against a spectrum of illnesses. Social engagement can be seen as an indicator and predictor of the health status of an older adult. The better the health conditions, the more likely an older adults is socially active.
Appendix 2: Aging
Muscles Muscular forces decreases. The muscles lose mass and tone. The ability to move decreases. The degree of movement during flexion and extension of most joints decreases. A consequence is that it is harder to maintain balance. This is particularly problematic since falling causes more severe injuries for elderly. Especially older women whose bones are more frail, due to osteoporosis.
Psychological changes The main psychological change is a decline in memory capacities. Especially the short-term memory decreases. Consequently learning capacities decrease and more repetition is needed in order to learn something new [13]. Memory Memory capacities decline late in life. Especially the short-term memory decreases. This means that learning capacities also decrease, more repetition is needed in order to learn something new.

Parallel tasks Parallel tasks are always difficult. They are particularly difficult for older adults because it involves cognitive processes which start to slow down. This makes older adults more slow during a difficult task. They also seem to suffer more easily from an information overload. Adaptation to change Older adults have experienced many changes through out their lives. Sometimes they seen resistant to change or set in their ways. This can be because they want to maintain in control, and keep their lives stable. Another reason is they sometimes need more explanation or more time to consider a proposal. Reminiscence Reminiscence can help older adults to cope with changes. The present might be unpleasant, but by recalling a happier time they may derive the ability to endure the present. Also recalling successful adjustments may give them the strength to adjust to the new changes.

Reminiscence is important for a persons view on their own identity. It shows the person they were before they were limited by old age. Reminiscence helps with self assessment. An older adult can look back on his life and give advice, wisdom or history to others. In this way his feeling of a worth wild life can be reinforced. In grieving reminiscence also plays a role. Reminiscence provides the opportunity to remember and relive the past, which is often needed when dealing with loss and grief. Intelligence A person’s intelligence does not decline with aging. How ever it might take longer to come up with the knowledge. Social changes The world of a senior citizen often gets smaller as they get older. They generally have no major social commitments, like a job or family to rise. Therefore they have less spontaneous contact
with others. Their social network decreases and they tend to be more focused on family [22]. Social disengagement and the shrinking of the social network can lead to isolation. Isolation can cause people to feel lonely. Loneliness is not only unpleasant but also bad for the health of a senior citizen [22] Aging often makes it harder for senior citizens to complete normal daily activities [14]. Therefore a senior citizen living alone needs to have a good supporting net [8]. The family care givers, the friends and family, often play an important role especially when a little help starts to be needed. Family caregivers need to be aware of the senior citizens situation in order to provide care in the right way and pick up on physical, psychological or social changes. With the increase in the physical and psychological limitations it is important for the awareness to be able adapt accordingly.

Appendix 3: Related work Appendix 3 discussed related projects to awareness and connectedness. The design in the project is described. A short overview of the research setup is given and at the end the interesting parts of the project are highlighted.
Social health display [20, 22] An interesting example of visualizing social networks as health feedback displays is the social health display. The research was aimed at enhancing elders’ quality of life and general health, increasing their autonomy, and helping protect against illnesses with a demonstrated social link. They wanted to motivate contact by increasing elders’ self awareness and confidence in their ability to initiate and sustain contact. Setup Through interviewing the found out that loneliness varies by the moment and it therefore requires adaptive solutions. A prototype was developed and tested during a three month inhome trail with six dyads of older adults and their primary caregivers. Design A platform of sensors and feedback displays was developed to measure and encourage social engagement. In the primary feedback display friends and family rotate around the elder— planets which can be pulled in by a phone call

or visit. Other displays show the elder’s current level of interaction with each individual and the third display shows the sum of the elder’s social contact on each day. Interesting The displays did increase the level of social activity. The elders expressed interest in spotting downward trends early on and intervening to avoid isolation and depression. The findings support the view that adult children need tools that can help them to manage their own lives as well as those of their parents. Initially monitoring was experienced as intrusive and burdensome by the older adults but over time their enthusiasm was raised for the monitoring technology. Familyware project and Omoiyari2 The familyware project shows a nice way of using ICT to communicate in a very gentle way. 2 Go, K. (2006), Supporting “Omoiyari”: A Design issue in Post-Ubiquitous Society
Setup Scenario based design methods were used. They feel this might bridge the gap between the work-driven and technology-driven approach. Design Multiple scenarios have been developed. An example of a possible products are two special necklaces. A couple both wear one of the necklaces. The necklaces can exchange a signal by changing temperature. When one holds his necklace the other necklace will get warm, this indicates a thinking of the other one. The meaning of the message is shared by the couple. The message does not interrupt or disturb but is does give the feeling of connectedness. Interesting Society is post-ubiquitous therefore unobtrusive communicating is useful. In my project this can be used although there might be certain information which should not be represented in an unobtrusive manner for instance when an older adult fell and cannot get. Current technologies lack omoiyari. The best term to describe this is omoiyari, this means a combination of kindness, mildness, mercy and moderation. The necklaces show a very gentle way to communicate even though it uses ICT. This is interesting to keep in mind.
ASTRA Aware System [17, 19] The ASTRA Aware System show possible enhances feelings of connectedness and prompts to direct communications through sharing every-day experiences. They view this is an unmet niche in the current communication needs met by other media. Setup The concept was developed based on informal social communication within the extended user family. ToTell was tested in Laboratorium and in a field test. Design The ASTRA aware system supports a lightweight social communication between mobile individuals and people at home. The communication is based on pictures, short messages and reach ability information. A concept called ToTell was realized and tested. Daily experiences were captured with a mobile device, which supported taking pictures, freehand drawing and handwriting. A ToTell list was composed in this way and shared with a related family member at home. The family member could see the list and a tablet device placed on a coffee table. When the device was not used it showed an overview of the messages in a spiral visualization. Interesting The field test confirmed that that ToTell helped households to stay in touch. ToTell supports individuals to serendipitously share every-day experiences. They state this might be potential
beneficiaries to older adults. The field test was conducted over 1 week. Will a family keep on using it when it is longer in the house? Digital Family Portrait [27, 19] The Digital Family Portrait was designed to provide peace of mind to adult children regarding a lone parent living at a distance. Their view is that peace of mind can be given by providing means of remaining aware of a distant family member’s day-to-day activities. The required information to provide day-to-day awareness of a family member’s well-being falls into general categories which include health, environment, relationships, activity and event.
Appendix 3: Related work
The ubiquitous society poses the dilemma of using surrounding communication devices to simply say Hello or I love you might seem insufficient grounds for interrupting the other person’s on-going activities. It proposes an unobtrusive way of communication.
Setup The DFP was tested in the field. The test showed that the display should not be to complex and use multiple layers to show more information. Design The family frame shows a picture combined with icons on the side. The icons show information about a certain category in the information over time. The DFP does not show meaningful interpretations of the data from the sensor frings over the day, it only visualizes an aggregation. A reason for this might be the difficulty to obtain reliable interpretations of users’ activities to prevent false alarms. Interesting Did the field test confirm the peace of mind felt by family members? Currently they show a

visualization of the information in stead of a qualitative view with respect to privacy and reliability difficulties. What type of information is wanted more by the family members? It is interesting to see the topics, health, environment, relationships, activity and events, they chose to show on the DFP. The choice stems from interviews with adult children and their aging parents. Casablanca ScanBoard [9, 19] The Casablanca research is interesting because its direction partially was designing household social communication devices. The project explored how media space concepts could be incorporated into households and family life. Interesting is that the home studies showed that people desire more kinds of connections to family and close friends. Setup Prototypes were built for in the researchers’ own home use, field studies of households and consumer testing of design concepts. Design Early prototypes included CommuteBoard which used handwritten notes and continuous audio-based activity sensing, NeighborNet relied on activity sensing at a few discrete levels with the option of a video connection, and KitchenNet provided users with connection options from none at all to telephonic to video, Intentional Presence Lamp provided friends or family with an indication of a user’s pres-

ence and Scanboard an implementation of the Scanboard. Interesting The Intentional Presence Lamp and Scanboard were presented internally in several informal demonstration sessions. Conclusions were intentionality and aesthetics made IPL attractive, scanning and sharing made ScanBoard attractive and expressiveness and simplicity made both attractive. The research resulted in two guidelines for designers of household communication devices. express just enough meaning but not too much social interaction should not be imposed on users InterLiving project3 The InterLiving project explored several communication appliances to connect family members. Interesting is that two concepts were tested in the field over a period of 6 months. Setup Codesign with families was used. Seeding technologies were distributed into families’ homes, to provide families with ideas what we would like to develop. The family members criticized the technologies and provided feedback that would affect subsequent designs. Design The MessageProbe enables members of a 3 Hutchinson, H. et al. (2003), Technology Probes: Inspiring Design for and with Families
distributed family to communicate using digital Post-It notes in a zoom able interface. The VideoProbe enables family members to share impromptu images among different households. Interesting The research shows that families find it important to stay connected and aware of other family members, but the motivations for doing so are diverse. Interesting is also that the designs were used for family coordination and playfulness. The probes had not been designed for playing games but the families found ways to do so themselves. Aroma project [19, 29] It is interesting that they have looked at multiple ways to show a representation of remote presence. Representation can solve problems with privacy, be less attention demanding, solve bandwidth problems and allow remapping to fit a media suited for the user. Setup The aroma project explored the use of abstract representations as presence indicators, a remote sense of presence for the purpose of peripheral awareness (the ability to maintain constantly update a sense of our social and physical context). Design The Aroma project lets users stay in touch by
Interesting The aroma project looked at direct representations, abstract representations, simple degradation silhouetting and radical abstraction. The test showed that it was indeed possible to make sense of the remote activity even with very primitive activity displays. Intel’s CareNet [6, 19] The CareNet is interesting because it shows professional care-givers detailed information about elder’s medication, nutrition, fall etc. Setup Previous research supported the view that an ambient display technology may offer a good solution for helping various members of an elder’s care network, since caring for an elder often is a secondary focus for the members. From this view an interactive display providing information about an older adult to his caregivers was developed. The CareNet display was tested in the field over three weeks with four dyads of older adults and their primary caregiver.
Design The CareNet Display is an interactive digital picture frame that shows a photograph of an elder with information about her daily life and provides mechanisms to help the local members of her care network to coordinate carerelated activities. The display has two basic modes of use: ambient and interactive. Users can get an overall picture of the elder’s condition while passing by. Interaction is also possible by touching the icons which represent seven types of events—medications, outings, meals, activities, mood, falls, and calendar. Users can go from an event detail to a 5-day trend view. Interesting The CareNet display shows promising results for the need for a product providing information about the elder’s activities is wanted. All participants said they would use the display if it was given to them. The participants also all reported that the display had a positive effect on their stress level, their interactions with their respective elder was more relaxed. The needed information was found on the display and therefore there was time for more meaningful conversations. Even though caring for the elder is a secondary task the participants places the display in often used areas of their homes. When creating an ambient display it is important to take all situation consideration. The current display is ambient during the day but a bright light during the night. The participants indicated that it was very important for both of them to have the controls available for privacy considerations.
Honeywell’s I.L.S.A. [19-BB] Honeywell’s I.L.S.A. also focused on providing professional care-givers information about elder’s medication, nutrition, falls etc. Design I.L.S.A. is an agent based monitoring and support system to help elderly people to live longer in their homes by reducing caregiver burden.
Appendix 3: Related work
adding a shared media space to the everyday means of communication. The media space was organized as a pair of windows. Each window displayed an abstract visual and auditory effect to represent the state of affairs at the remote site. They show abstract images because this shields privacy, is non-attention demanding, allows remapping and is easier for the bandwidth.
Interesting After testing this direction has been retired. Using an agent-based system significantly added to the development effort. I.L.S.A. had many capabilities that needed to be centralized which cost a lot of time Piece of family Piece of family is an interesting project because it bridges the communication gap between generations in a family. It allows older adults to communicate with their family online without using a computer. Setup Piece of Family was designed in a graduation project at Vodafone. Design The design consists of a book equipped with a notebook and a scanner. It allows a grandmother to write or draw a message for their family, which is scanned and placed on the

family-web log. In the web log family can comment on grandmothers’ message. The grandmother can view the responses on her television. Interesting Interesting is how the online communication is introduced to older adults by using recognizable devices which are partially already present at the elder’s home. Daily Activities Diarist [19] The daily activities diarist uses actual sensor data to provide awareness for social intimates of an older adult. Sensors are placed in many places in the house of the older adult. A sensor in the bed and chair to detect if the elder is lying in his bed or sitting in his chair another sensor was placed in the kitchen cupboard to detect activity in the kitchen and multiple more sensors were placed. Setup Interviews, focus group sessions and questionnaires with seniors and their social intimates were conducted to investigate the trade offs of an awareness system. A prototype was build and tested in the field with two households over two weeks. Design The daily activities diarist is an awareness system that supports social connectedness between independently living seniors and their social intimates. The diarist shows a journal of

the daily activities in a journal. The data is collected using wireless sensors, installed in the home of the elder. Interesting It is interesting to see that they use a narrative presentation of the awareness information in comparison to an impressionistic presentation. They feel it offers practical advantages because it provides rich semantic feedback regarding the systems reasoning. Important lesson awareness systems even when aiming for peace of mind have a safety critical nature, the affective costs of an occasional malfunction can outweigh their benefits as they can unsettle relatives mistakenly.

Interesting It is interesting to see reactions from users. The websites decreased their time needed to keep everybody up to date. The extra time found gives them time to breath or focus on the receiver of the care in stead of providing care. It allows people to feel involved and useful even when they don’t provide care themselves but by giving support or tips. (www.sharecare.nl)
Share Care4 Mama’s boys’ GustBowl [12] Share Care is an available product on the Dutch market which is developed as and outcome of an intensive informal caregiver’s situation. Setup The ending of an intensive informal caregiver’s situation prompted one of the informal caregivers to look for a solution to the problems he experienced during her informal caregiver situation. Combining a busy life with informal care activities cost a lot of time and effort. The main problem they faced the time needed for keeping everybody informed. Design Share Care website focuses on a care situation 4

The Gustbowl is a non-invasive communication device. It enables parents and out-of-house children to bring back the feeling of coming home. Dropping things into it makes it wobble. Sensors in the bowl detect the movement, which causes a camera built into the bottom of the bowl to take a snapshot of the contents of the bowl and things above it. The image and motion parameters are transmitted to another Gustbowl located at the other house. After about two hours, the image of the others personal items will slowly disappear.

Friends and family start to get worried when small things start going wrong. The small things are seen as the start of bigger problems. The family carers are worried because they are not present at the older adult’s home and therefore cannot put their finger on the situation. Together you know more Everybody involved in the life of the older adults sees a little bit of the real situation. People see thing in their own way and interpret it themselves. By sharing what you saw, heard of felt at the older adults house you can create a bigger picture.

Older adults sometime are a shamed and want to keep up appearances. They might lie to make the carer feel better, prevent unwanted situations or because they don’t know better. Communication book All participants in my study used a communication book. This communication book is used by professional carers and/or family carers. Sometimes everybody who came in the home of the older adult was asked to write in the book. [01:30:27.20] Deelnemer G: Als ik binnen kwam dan gingen we eerst kletsen, een kopje thee drinken. En daarna zei ik nou ga ik even in het boek kijken. En dan pakte ik het boek en bladerde ik door.
[01:27:44.17] Deelnemer G: Nou iedereen die daar komt wordt, die is eigenlijk verplicht om iets in het boek te schrijven. Wat je aantreft en wat je gedaan hebt en hoe het gaat en of er nog iets is, of er nog dingen op zijn. Theezakjes halen.
[00: 52: 34.17] Deelneemster A: Later schreef bijna iedereen er wat in. We hebben bij jullie moeder koffie weze drinken, groetjes Sjan. En dan had ik zelf ook iets om te vertellen, kon ik terug blikken. Ach moederke ze zijn geweest.
[00:06:43.03] Deelneemster E: Tuurlijk, las ik het communicatie schrift van de thuiszorg regelmatig het lag daar. Ik ben nieuwsgierig van aard. Nee je wil weten, die zijn daar omdat er problemen zijn.

When the family used the book it was often introduced to the older adult as a helpful tool to remember appointments. [01:29:58.13] Deelnemer G: In het begin was het boek voor mijn moeder om dingen te onthouden. Maar op een gegeven moment dan kijk zij daar niet meer in. In het begin is dat wel grappig als zij commentaar geeft.
When health deteriorated the book often the older adult stops using it. Then it really becomes a communication tool for the care givers involved. Preferably everybody who would visit the older adult would write something in

the book. The story should tell what the situation was at the home, what they did with the older adult and how it went. The book also sometimes was used to write down practical matters like, need to make an appointment or buy tea.
Sometimes family carers who live far away communicate with people closer by. They want to know the situation and aren’t capable of finding out on their own. Then they contact someone with eyes ad ears close by. Knowing someone close keeps an eye on the situation can already bring peace of mind to the family carer.
Physical Monitoring potential emergencies. Caregivers would like to know about potential emergencies. They would like to know (a) if the older adult has fallen, and (b) if the stove is turned off. Monitoring food and fluid intake. Food and fluids are important fuel for our bodies. The intake is very important in order tofunction well. The family carers would like to know (a) if clients eat and drink sufficiently, (b) if clients eat and drink at a regular basis (c) how they prepare their meal. [00: 12: 19.26] Deelneemster A: Nou met de maaltijden of iemand goed voor zich zelf kan zorgen? Brood smeert en zelf.. Mijn moeder zei altijd ik kook al de beste. Maar wij vonden het voort matig. [00: 04: 35.12] Deelneemster A: Ja structuur. Het overzicht van de maaltijden, wat eet iemand?
[00:13:56.18] Deelneemster C: De buren die letten ook op of ‘s ochtend de gordijnen open gaan en of er ‘s avonds geen lawaai op straat is. Als er iets is kijken zij eerst en daarna bellen ze ons. Dat is wel fijn.
Monitoring medicine intake Mediation is very important for well functioning of the body and the brain. It can be a matter of life or death. The family carer would like to know (a) if medicine has been taken, (b) if the right medicine has been taken, and (c) if the medication is taken on a regular basis.
[00:50:40.20] Deelneemster H: Laatst had ik mijn moeder al drie dagen niet aan de telefoon kunnen krijgen. Toen heb ik de buren gebeld.
[00: 05: 39.19] Deelneemster A: Ja en de medicijn inname is ook helemaal verkeerde gegaan toen, vandaar ook de spoedopname. De dagindeling,
[01:51:25.25] Deelneemster B: ...heel veel medicijnen nam hij niet. Die kreeg hij ‘s morgens van thuiszorg en hij had een grote bloembak op tafel staan, met zo’n randje en daar heeft hij allemaal tabletten.
Monitoring sleep. Sleeping is important to refuel your body. Sleeping badly can be an indication of other problems. Often older adults who suffer from dementia experience trouble sleeping. The family carer would like to know (a) how much the older adult is sleeping, and (b) at what time the older adults sleeps. [00: 05: 39.19] Deelneemster A: Bij de dagindeling is het belangrijk om te weten of ze niet te veel sliep. Moeder zei altijd ik slaap overdag niet ik doe alles nog, maar als je dan belde : hmm ja.. Monitoring personal hygiene. Taking care of ones self is an important indication of the overall situation mentally and physically. The family carer would like to know (a) if clients have used the bathroom and/or toilets, (b) if the older adult actually washed himself, (c) if the clients wash themselves on a regular basis, and (d) how often does the older adult changes clothes [00: 04: 35.12] Deelneemster A: Ik maakte me zorgen om de verschoning. Safety Monitoring upkeep of the household. Is the household still looked after and is this done by the older adult. An older adult might say one thing but does the other. The family carer would like to know (a) if the house is being cleaned, and (b) who cleans the house. [00: 04: 35.12] Deelneemster A: Ik maakte me zorgen om de verschoning. Dat vind ik een hele... De dagindeling, hoe zou ze dat doen, de verzorging ook een heel erg iets. De verzorging van zichzelf en het huis.
Monitoring safety. Older adults are vulnerable due to their overall health condition. Their vulnerability makes them an attractive target group for burglars and swindlers1. Therefore it is important to be aware of this vulnerability and take safety measurements. Family carers would like to know (a) if the doors are locked, and (b) if the older adult lets people in at night. Privacy is very important for the babyboom generation. The level of privacy wanted can change depending on the health of or the people involved.
The level of privacy also depends on the person receiving the information. The closer the closer they feel the more willing they are to share.
[00:58:10.23] Deelneemster C: Ik ben heel erg gesteld op privacy. Maar ik denk dat het op enig moment noodzakelijk is. En dan moet je kiezen uit twee kwaden. Als het is voor de veiligheid dat zou ik het wel heel vervelend vinden maar ik zou het wel toelaten. [00: 48: 41.09] Deelneemster A: Ik zou gewoon privacy willen hebben. Privacy heb ik hoog in het vaandel. Als ik goed ben he. Ik vind dat als ik aan het dementeren ben dan mogen ze dat gerust doen.

[00: 48: 05.01] Deelneemster A: Als een cliënt uit bed stapt en er gaat ergens een alarm af, terwijl die mensen dat niet weten. Dan kun je toch even op de deur kloppen. Ik kwam hier toevallig langs en u bent op in de nacht. Hoe komt dat? Is toch een stukje veiligheid.

Appendix 8: Emotion selection study In order to determine the different emotion images for the messages sending function research was needed. Appendix 8 shows the test setup, the results and the conclusions.
Research goal The main goal is to determine the 6 emotions which people want to share and want to know about. Hypotheses People would like to share the four most general emotions: satisfaction, dissatisfaction, joy and sadness. Method A small quantitative research will be conducted which consists of one questionnaire. Two groups of two participants will take part in the research. Test setup The questionnaire consists of 2 parts. Part 1 The participant is asked to image he is a family carer. What emotions would he like to receive

form the senior and which ones would he like to share himself? Part 2 The participant is asked to image he is a senior citizen in need of care. What emotions would he like to receive form the family carer and which ones would he like to share himself? Approach The questionnaire is send to the participants as an attachment to an email. Participant selection The choice of participants is focused on people that actually could use the Family Care Book to support the current family care situation. The participants are divided in age groups: 40 to 60 and above 60. These groups represent people who probably are familiar with worrying about and caring for an senior citizen. The group above 60 is expected to identify more with the care needing senior.
Results The results are generated in an excel file. The table shows the preferences of both age groups and the overall preferences.

Conclusions The preferences of both age groups are mostly the same. The only exception is the emotion fear. The age group 40-60 is interested in know when the older adults experiences this emotion and is neutral about sending the emotion. The participants above 60 are also interested in knowing the emotion but are not willing to share the emotion. The overall results support this view. The final selection of the emotions there for excludes fear and in its place dissatisfaction is added to the list of six emotions. Dissatisfaction is an emotion which the participants are more willing to share and also want to receive. The six selected emotions are: satisfaction, sadness, hope, joy, pride and dissatisfaction.

Frans krijgt gedurende de test een aangepaste iPhone met het Family Care Book erop. Alle vijf de dagen moeten weer vragen beantwoord worden in het boekje.
De laatste dag van de test kom ik de testapparatuur ophalen en is er een afsluitend interview met jullie beide (twee losse interviews).

Op de volgende bladzijde wordt staps gewijs uitgelegd hoe je een bericht kunt versturen. Bij elk bericht hoort een plaatje. Met het plaatje kun je aangeven hoe je je voelt. De mantelzorger kan ook een foto maken met de iPhone en deze meesturen. Appendix 11: Field test results The participants of the field test were interviewed on the last day of the test. The goal of the interview was to find out more about their use of the Family Care Book and their opinion about the Family Care Book. In this appendix an overview us given of their responses. Use of the Family Care Book [00:02:35.13] Oudere A: s’ochtends versturen we altijd een berichtje. [00:14:11.07] Oudere A: Als ik. Ik sta meestal om 9.45 op en dan kijk eerst op het schermpje en verder kijk ik eigenlijk door dag heen af en toe op het schermpje. Als ik op de stoel zit dan kijk ik even. Dus niet alleen ‘s morgens en ‘s avonds kijk, ik kijk meerdere malen per dag. [00:14:34.21] Oudere A: Dan kijk ik of er al post is of dat de schoentjes er staan of medicijnen goed opgekomen zijn dus dan ga ik het hele riedeltje eigenlijk even langs.

Attitude ten opzichte van oranje icoon [00:10:24.01] Mantelzorger A: Ik dacht helemaal niet dat het mis was als ik de icoon zag. Nee. De nacht gaf hij steeds aan en dan dacht ik bij mezelf ze is weer honderd keer uit haar bed geweest. Mijn moeder slaapt raar. Dan gaat ze er lekker uit zet ze een kopje thee en leest ze even een boekje en gaat weer terug naar bed en slaapt vervolgens tot halftien uit, rustig. Dus dat is een grillig patroon dus dat Family Care Book geeft aan de nacht verliep anders dan gepland. Met die planning dat is moeilijk. [00:12:46.00] Mantelzorger A: Ik heb alle dagen met elkaar vergeleken. En het is me op gevallen dat
[00:14:34.19] Mantelzorger A: Ik keek ‘s morgens voordat ik naar mijn werk ging en dan stuurde ik mijn eerste berichtje en als ik uit mijn werk kwam dan keek ik, gewoon even om te kijken heeft ze gereageerd. Hoe loopt de dag, hoe is de nachtrust geweest. En zo om een uur of 5 vulde ik de vragen in. ‘s Morgens vulde ik wel meteen even in dat ik dus een berichtje had gestuurd met kort wat er in. Dus we hadden een soort ritme en na de twee verplichte dagen zijn we er gewoon mee door gegaan. Ik merk dus dat heel gauw. Wij zijn dus mensen die graag van routine houden. Ik kan me ook voorstellen dat mensen dat niet hebben en het dan helemaal vergeten. Want als mensen het gaan vergeten dan kan het wel voor onrust zorgen. Dit is wel ook wel erg behulpzaam voor mensen die daarmee om kunnen gaan. Het heeft wel te maken of je nog bij de pinken bent. En mijn moeder heeft natuurlijk al een computers omgaan. [00:29:56.28] Mantelzorger A: Altijd de plaatjes gekozen, bij elk bericht. De hele reutemeteut hebben wel gehad. Ik miste geen emoties. Een ochtends waar ik helemaal geen zin meer in had lag er weer sneeuw. Daar word ik heel verdrietig van dus een berichtje van ooh er ligt weer sneeuw vreselijk. Dat denk ik ook dat het heel goed is als mensen dit niet echt meer kunnen. Dan zo’n soort standaard berichtjes heb van alles goed, goed geslapen, niks aan de hand, geen problemen. Ik denk inderdaad als je wat verder van elkaar zit en je bent niet in de gelegenheid om steeds te kijken dan is dit fantastisch. En ook bijvoorbeeld als je het niet met je ouders kan vinden. En je voelt je toch geroepen.
[00:07:05.14] Mantelzorger B: ‘s ochtends vroeg voordat ik naar kantoor ging om te kijken hoe de nacht gegaan was. Daar kon ik dan toch wel wat zien. En als ik thuis kwam. Ik heb dat ook een of twee dagen meegenomen naar kantoor en dan kon ik, maar ik heb daar niet veel gebruik van gemaakt om dat ik nogal onregelmatig werk en Ik vind het ook niet echt gebruiksvriendelijk. [00:08:23.05] Mantelzorger B: Ik liep het helemaal door. Ik keek gewoon alles. Nou ja je ziet het is alleen maar grijze stukken en hij zegt de nacht verliep normaal maar er is helemaal niks gebeurd. [00:09:18.22] Mantelzorger B: Ja lastig. Ik had wel een keertje toen had ik moeder nog gebeld. Toen leek het alsof ze midden in de nacht er uit was geweest. Nou ik zal even vragen of dat ook zo is geweest. En toen zei ze dat dat zou kunnen.
Attitude towards the Family Care Book [00:19:49.23] Oudere A: Leuk! Ik vond het leuk, Mijn zoon (mantelzorger A) ook hoor. We waren er op een gegeven moment redelijk aan verslingerd want we gingen de hele dag kijken of er wat was. En mijn dochter was hier en die vond het ook leuk. Ja iedereen vond het leuk en een goed idee. [00:03:06.22] Oudere A: Het is zo leuk, we hebben er alle plezier aan beleefd. [00:22:07.06] Matty Cruijsberg: Verdere gebruik [00:22:13.17] Oudere A: Nou hum, ach waarom ook eigenlijk niet. Het is best wel handig. Al hoewel ik natuurlijk in mijn geval want ik heb ook nog een alarm systeem. Want in mijn geval is het natuurlijk niet zo zeer nodig het is maar dat ik het leuk vind. Zal ik maar zeggen.
[00:00:04.03] Mantelzorger A: Ik vind het dus echt een uitvinding, want je kan precies steeds zien wat er gebeurt. [00:02:05.03] Mantelzorger A: Ik moet zeggen, je kan fantastisch zien of er bewogen wordt in de flat.… Dat ik dus kon zien wanneer mijn moeder het bed verliet om naar het toilet te gaan. En je kunt ook zien dat ze er dus duidelijk ook weer in is gegaan. Dus dat is ook mooi. Want zou ze er niet meer in haar bed gaan, dan zou je denken hee??? Wat vreemd. [00:03:34.28] Mantelzorger A: Want ik kon wel zien dat hij het geregistreerd had, dus dat vond ik helemaal niet ongebruikelijk. Dus ik kon wel zien van nou ze moet het ingenomen hebben want er zijn gewoon gegevens bekend. Dus dat is heel duidelijk te zien.

Dat is natuurlijk een unieke situatie. Maar dit is een enorme aanvulling. En als ik bijvoorbeeld in Zeist zou wonen dan zou het een uitkomst zijn. Mijn zus woont in Zeist. En die komt 2 keer week en die weet niet half zo veel als ik. Maar als je zo’n apparaat hebt weet je precies. En ik denk vooral als mensen dus met hun gezondheid gaan kwakkelen of niet meer zo makkelijk naar buiten kunnen dan is dat Family Care Book ideaal. [00:05:11.16] Mantelzorger A: Ja dat je kan zien dat iemand het huis is uitgegaan en weer binnen komt. Vind ik ook een hele goede. Want dat heb ik wel. En toen het Family Care Book gaf dus aan dat ze niet in het huis was. Dus dat klopt, ik had nog gebeld. Niet in huis maar toen kon ik wel zien oh nu moet ze er weer zijn want het bewoog weer. He was je nou toch naar buiten? Ja. Ze was zo duf van het binnen zitten geworden dat toch maar naar buiten gegaan.
[00:08:28.27] Oudere A: Nou en toen ben ik vervolgens achter de televisie blijven hangen. Het is toch leuk he, het is toch curieus he dat ding. Want de mantelzorger kan precies zien wat er gebeurt. [00:08:40.13] Oudere A: En als hij zich dus zorgen had gemaakt over die hoge streepjes, dan had hij misschien kunnen bellen of een berichtje of u had een berichtje kunnen sturen ik ben dat aan het kijken.

[00:00:43.15] Oudere B: Nou ik vind het niet zo nodig dat Frans kan zien wat er hier gebeurt. Telefoon is ook altijd dichtbij. Ik heb alles nog onder controle dus niet nodig.
[00:07:23.21] Mantelzorger A: eigenlijk niet behalve de keer dat hij het niet deed. Dat was maandag 8 maart, toen zag ik het bed symbooltje niet. Later bleek dat het stekkertje er uit was. Ja dat zijn technische dingen. [00:09:45.00] Mantelzorger A: Dat het technisch niet helemaal werkt vind ik een nadeel. Dat je een storing krijgt in je internet of hoe werkt dat. Maar goed dan ben jij te bebellen en de privacy. Misschien dat er mensen zijn die zeggen dat wil ik niet vanwege mijn privacy. Ik kan het niet voorstellen hoor maar. [00:32:09.14] Mantelzorger A: Ik vind het een gouden vondst. Je moet wel heel goed kijken of mensen er mee om kunnen gaan en mijn moeder kan dat fantastisch. Nou heeft mijn moeder makkelijk praten want het is daar een zoete inval. Daar lopen zoveel mensen naar binnen dus mijn moeder heeft een overvloed aan aandacht. Dus ik weet niet als daar nooit iemand kwam, ik geloof dat mijn moeder dat ook niet zou laten gebeuren. Maar als je nu in je eentje zit en er komt nooit iemand, dan kan ik me wel voorstellen oh even bellen wel begrijpelijk. Dat heeft er dus heel erg mee te maken of je er mee om kunt gaan, daar staat of valt het mee.

[00:05:32.07] Mantelzorger B: Toch een beetje moeizaam. Want ik heb er even naar zitten kijken en er is geen dag geweest dat het allemaal heeft gewerkt. Dus voor mij om er een zeker vertrouwen in te krijgen in dat Family Care Book is toch wel lastig. Dan deed dit het niet dan deed dat het niet. [00:06:07.27] Mantelzorger B: Ja het idee dat vind ik wel goed maar de uitwerking daar moet nog wel het een en ander aan gesleuteld worden. Ik heb er niet echt vertouwen in dat ik status krijg zoals het hier is. [00:09:35.25] Mantelzorger B: En met die medicijnen dat vond ik een lastige omdat het doosje staat erop maar ik weet niet wat er dan precies mee gebeurt. Dus als, vier keer was dat doosje er dan afgeweest terwijl Ma volgens haar zeggen maar een keer per dag medicijnen in neemt. Maar later was het toch twee keer he? [00:10:46.06] Mantelzorger B: Ik had in principe als het gewerkt had had ik het wel leuk gevonden want dan had je dus een aantal dingen kunnen zien. Je zou het ook nog kunnen combineren als Ma ook
zoiets als een iPhone had. Dan zou je dus kunnen zien van ja er is geen activiteit in huis maar ze is ook weg. [00:15:58.28] Mantelzorger B: Ja, ik denk dat het wel kan bijdragen aan gemoedsrust. Nou kijk, ik er eigenlijk niet zo’n last van. Moeder is vrij stabiel en als er wat gebeurt dan belt ze. Ja. Nou kan ik heel wat situatie bedenken waarbij je dat wel wilt weten. Dus dan, als dan de sensoren en naar zijn en de verbinding. Dus als concept koop ik het. En ja je kunt het uitbreiden met van alles. [00:17:21.11] Mantelzorger B: Zitten of bewegen maakt mij niet uit maar je zou willen weten dat als ze niet bij het knopje kan en er gebeurt wat. Dat zou waarde toevoegen. Als ze in heet stoel zit ze lekker te genieten en zie ik niks, wat moet ik daar dan van denken. Het is rustig maar dat zegt dan verder niet zoveel. [00:18:44.17] Mantelzorger B: Dagjes uit kun je dan laten weten met berichtjes versturen. Het is natuurlijk niet dat dit allerhande communicatie overneemt. Er blijft bellen en langskomen. Dus het is aanvullend. [00:21:44.05] Mantelzorger B: Berichten ben ik mee gestopt want ik dacht dat komt toch niet over. Op zich is dat wel aardig en dan kun je waarmee je bezig bent. Dat zou natuurlijk tweezijdig leuk zijn. Als mij moeder ergens mee bezig is met een handwerkje en ze wil dat laten zien. En dan kan ik het zien, dat is wel leuk. [00:22:45.12] Mantelzorger B: Wij zijn natuurlijk vrij dicht bij. Als ik mijn best doen ben ik in 1 kwartier van mijn huis hier. Ik kan mij voorstellen ik heb dus een heleboel aantal kennissen en collega’s en die wonen veel verder weg. Die zijn dan niet echt mantelzorger. Als mijn moeder belt ben ik in 20 minuten hier. Maar voor dat soort mensen misschien,
Usability [00:03:06.22] Oudere A: Ja je kunt er beter een pennetje meteen bij geven. Want dat is veel handiger. [00:03:56.16] Oudere A: Als je een berichtje wil sturen met je vinger dat is helemaal lastig met je vinger. Dan typ je twee letters tegelijk en dat doen we anders nooit. [00:00:04.03] Mantelzorger A: Hij gaf wel steeds die mededeling van het bed is in gebruik dus dat moet je er nog uit zien te halen. [00:00:04.03] Mantelzorger A: Wat handig is voor het berichtjes versturen dat je er misschien zo’n aan wijspennetje bij doet. Sommige mensen hebben van die dikke onhandige vingers en ga ik dus op die dingetjes en dan zit het dus vol met fouten, het berichtje dat je maakt. [00:00:04.03] Mantelzorger A: Verder vind ik het heel gebruiksvriendelijk. [00:17:36.12] Mantelzorger A: Op een gegeven moment belde ze op. Had ze aan dat scherm geveegd. Ja wat ik nou gedaan heb. Ja zeg ik ben nou de krant aan het lezen ik kom nou niet speciaal er voor. Dat komt vast wel weer goed. En dan is ze dus wel zo fanatiek, drie kwartier later belt ze ja ik heb het weer gevonden. Want ik had er langs gewreven. Kijk, ik ben trots op je. [00:15:42.22] Oudere A: Het pennetje, of het scherm niet groter kan en die webcam. Nee verder vond ik het eigenlijk bestwel handig. En ik het lijkt
me vooral als je wat verder weg zit, lijkt het me heel prettig want je hebt. Je mantelzorger kan precies zien wat je doen en jij kan in contact treden met je mantelzorger via dat briefje. Het is alleen het valt of staat met de handigheid van degene die het doen moet. Dat kan een zwak punt zijn. Want ik heb een zus, mijn jongste zus, die dat is een heel nerveus iemand. Die gauw in de war is en redelijk paniekerig. En die.. Mijn zoon (mantelzorger A) heeft bijvoorbeeld geprobeerd het computeren bij te brengen maar dat is niet gelukt. Dus ik vraag me af of die daar dan ook mee uit de voeten zou kunnen. Dat moet je dus ook bekijken. [00:00:57.06] Oudere B: Ik vind het steeds moeilijk om dat te doen. Ik heb alles bij de hand maar daar heb ik nou niks aan geleerd. [00:07:45.14] Ik vind het ook niet echt gebruiksvriendelijk. Het duur allemaal vrij lang, Zeker het ophalen van de data. Dan scroll je terug wat al langzaam gaat en dan ben je ergens en dan is hij nog bezig en dat duurt gewoon heel lang. Je zou, ik zou verwachten dat. Hij heeft toch een verbinding dat hij die data steeds binnen haalt en dan opslaat, als je dan terug gaat dat het er dan is.

[00:01:06.09] Mantelzorger A: Mijn moeder en ik vroegen ons wel af als je nou digitaal niet geschoold bent dan moet dat dus eerst wel gebeuren. Zeker als je oud bent en een beetje beverig misschien, dan is het heel moeilijk om een coherent berichtje te sturen denk ik. Want het is toch wel heel klein.
Privacy [00:02:36.03] Mantelzorger A: Ik vind de inbreuk op de privacy geen enkel probleem. Want, en zeker wanneer je op een grote afstand zit. Ik zit nu op loop afstand van mijn moeder maar als je op grote afstand zit is dat gewoon een aanleiding om even te bellen bijvoorbeeld. Van he, is er wat?
[00:11:45.21] Mantelzorger B: Ik vind ook het duurt vrij lang voordat je van de ene dag naar de andere dag bent. En dan druk je per ongeluk twee keer en dan gaat hij twee dagen terug. Hoe dat komt weet ik niet, over het algemeen zijn die iPhone redelijk responsief. Dus dan moet er nog het een en ander aan de applicatie gebeuren.
[00:08:11.13] Mantelzorger A: Nee zorgen maken komt in mijn geval niet voor omdat ik zo dichtbij ben. Dus ik ga altijd polshoogte nemen dus in zo verre ben ik niet een goeie try-out persoon ervoor. Maar nogmaals als ik dus niet elke dag zou kunnen kijken dan zou het een enorme steun zijn. Want nu, richting winkelcentrum dan kom ik er gewoon langs. Dus snap je. Ik kijk gewoon en dan zie ik meteen of er iets. Als ik naar mijn werk ga kom ik er langs en dan zie ik of de gordijnen open of dicht zijn. Maar als dat niet zo zou zijn dan zou ik dit fantastisch vinden.
[00:19:16.04] Mantelzorger B: Lastig. Een beetje chatten is wel leuk en zou wel handig zijn? De plaatjes die erin zaten vond ik een beetje beperkt. Ik begrijp wat je er mee wilt, een soort weerbericht maar dat was toch vrij beperkt. Dat heeft voor mij
[00:19:31.12] Oudere A: Nee. Nee het is geen inberuk op mijn privacy. Mijn zoon (mantelzorger A) is me zo vertrouwd, dat is natuurlijk. En ik neem aan dat een mantelzorger dat die enigszins vertrouwd is dat vind ik helemaal geen bezwaar.

Future and other possibilities [00:09:07.11] Mantelzorger A: Prima, daar zou ik geen enkel probleem hebben met infra rood sensoren bij mij thuis bij mij thuis. Dan zou zij weten oké ze zijn er ik kan nu opbellen. Prima, (doek erover idee) maar ik denk dat je dat dan ook met z’n tweeën afspreekt. [00:18:42.24] Mantelzorger A: ik zou zoiets heerlijk vinden als is zelf oud ben. Ik zou het heel prettig vinden. Naar familie of iemand die op mij let. Dat zou iedereen kunnen zijn. Kijk als je in het bejaarden huis zit dan is het niet meer nodig. Denk ik maar zolang je zelfstandig woont is het ideaal. En ik, en twee jaar geleden heb ik een programma gezien ook over bejaarden zorg. En dat ging over de thuiszorg en die hadden ook zo’n systeem maar dat ging via de webcam. Die oudjes hadden een computer en zo’n webcammetje en die riepen ‘s morgens zelf de centrale op en dan kwam er een mevrouw. Die zagen ze. En mevrouw is alles goed me u. Dat is een beetje hetzelfde principe als wat dit heeft. Hebt u nog iets nodig. Dus dat vond ik een uitvinding ook. [00:34:21.24] Mantelzorger A: Ik zou zo’n iPhone heerlijk vinden. Want die zou ik zelfs mee kunnen nemen. Want dan zou ik ook meteen om hulp kunnen vragen. [00:14:50.28] Oudere A: Ja op de vensterbank was niet goed, want toen zat ik zo heel erg scheef. Maar op die plek, daar moet je ook bij de volgende op letten dat ze er goed recht voor zit anders krijg je het in je rug. Ja en dan moet je haar even laten oefenen. [00:22:55.25] Matty Cruijsberg: Een soort dag boek waarin je kan zien wat is er toen gebeurd.

Het gebeurt me niet veel dat ik het gas aan laat staan, maar een enkele keer. Ja dat is zo. Ik let er altijd er op, het gebeurt alleen als er te veel aan mijn hoofd gezeurd wordt. Dan kan me dat gebeuren, nou dan is het dus heel fijn als je gewaarschuwd wordt. [00:26:33.29] Oudere A: Er komt natuurlijk een categorie ouderen aan die meer en meer opgegroeid zijn met computers. Dus daar is het niet zo vreemd voor. Als het, ja want dat moet ik zeggen mijn kennissen hebben het niet. Daar kan ik ook niet mee handelen, zal ik maar zeggen. ........ Ja die moeten zo lang mogelijk zelfstandig en daar kan dit goed aan meewerken hoor. Ik heb het nou gedaan en zo’n berichtje sturen ook dat gaat best goed. [00:23:55.04] Mantelzorger B: Dan hoeft hij alleen maar te denken en dat weet hij het al. Nou dat is over 30 jaar, nou dan is dit echt al oud hoor. Dan zou ik wel wat actiever er mee zijn denk ik. Ik zie dat wel gebeuren. Als ik de iPhone dan nog zou kunnen lezen zou ik die gebruiken. Ja ik vind het wel handig dat kun je meenemen en dan kan je dus ook laten weten het is stil maar hij is buiten. [00:25:02.27] Mantelzorger B: Wat ik ook nog bedacht had. Je hebt nu eigenlijk aan de hand van een aantal vragen de normaal situatie bepaald maar eigenlijk zou je dat in moeten leren. En dat je dat ook weer opnieuw kan laten doen als er iets verandert. Bijvoorbeeld meer medicijnen.
