Government regulation has changed recently: • Mortgages have to be paid off fully within 30 years (at least on annuity basis) to apply for tax deductibility • The maximal tax bracket for this fiscal facility will be lowered from 52% to 38% (in 28 years; -0.5% annually) • The LTV for new mortgages will be lowered from 106% (2013) to 100% (2018; -1% annually) • Nearly all social rental homes are assigned to households with low income levels (< EUR 34,000) • Landlord tax is introduced for homes with rents below the free-market threshold (currently EUR 700) • Additional income-dependent rent increase for households living in a social rental home (rental price < EUR 700) • Circulaire: possibility for housing associations to sell their properties.  Increasing demand for free-market rental sector homes
