ABSTRAK
Rika Mentari (2014) : Pengaruh Penggunaan Strategi Look, Think and Write terhadap Pemahaman Menulis dalam Paragraf Deskriptif pada Murid Kelas Dua di SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Kampar.
Berdasarkan observasi di SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Kampar. Peneliti menemukan bahwa siswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam menulis. Siswa tersebut sulit dalam menulis terutama menulis paragraf deskriptif. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari masalah yg ditemukan yaitu: beberapa siswa tidak dapat mengembangkan idenya dengan baik dalam membuat paragraf deskriptif, beberapa siswa tidak mengerti bagaimana untuk mengidentifikasi / memahami paragraf deskriptif, beberapa siswa tidak mampu mengekpresikan ide nya tentang topic yang diberikan, beberapa siswa tidak mampu menulis paragraf deskriptif dengan baik, beberapa siswa tidak mampu menggunakan tensis simple present tense disaat menulis paragraf deskriptif. Jadi, peneliti tertarik melakukan penelitian terhadap masalah ini dengan mengaplikasikan strategi look, think and write untuk meningkatkan kemampuan di dalam menulis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menemukan penggaruh penggunan strategi Look, Think and Write terhadap pemahaman penulisan dalam paragraf deskriptif pada murid kelas dua di SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Kampar. . Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua variabel, yaitu strategi look, think and write sebagai variabel X, dan Kemampuan Menulis siswa sebagai variabel Y. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas dua SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Kampar, dan objek penelitian ini adalah penggunaan strategi look, think and write dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui pra-pasca test dan data tersebut dianalisis dengan menggunakan program SPSS 16 dengan rumus Independent Sample T-test. Setelah menganalisis data dengan menggunakan program SPSS, telah diperoleh bahwa to (tobservasi) lebih besar dari pada tt (ttabel). Itu berarti bahwa hipotesis null (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternative (Ha) diterima. Dengan kata lain, ada pengaruh yang signifikan pada penggunaan strategi look, think and write terhadap pemahaman membaca dalam teks deskriptif pada murid kelas dua SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Kampar.

ABSTRACT
Rika Mentari (2014) : The Effect of Using Look, Think and Write Strategy toward Writing Ability on Descriptive Paragraph of the Second Grade Students at SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Kampar.
Based on observation in SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Kampar, the writer found that the students still had difficulties in writing. The students were difficult in writing especially in writing Descriptive paragraph, it can be seen from the problems: some of the students could not develop their ideas to write descriptive paragraph of well, some of the students did not know how to write a identification/ introduction descriptive paragraph, some of the students were not able to express their description about the topic given, some of the students were not able to write descriptive paragraph coherently, some of the students were not able to implicate simple present tense in descriptive paragraph. So, the researcher was interested in carrying out the research about the problems by applying look, think and write strategy to improve the students’ writing ability. The purpose of this research was to find out the significant effect of using look, think and write strategy toward writing ability on descriptive paragraph of the second grade students at SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Kampar. This research consisted of two variables; they were look, think and write strategy as variable X, and students’ writing ability as variable Y. The subject of this research was the second grade students at SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Kampar, and the object of this research was the use of look, think and write strategy in teaching writing. The data were gained from written test and the data were analyzed by using SPSS 16 program with Independent Sample T-test. After analyzing the data by using SPSS program, it was obtained that tobserved (to) was greater than ttable (tt). It means, null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. In conclusion, there was significant effect of using look, think and write strategy towards writing ability on descriptive paragraph of the second grade students at SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Kampar.
