STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION TOWARD ENGLISH LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IN MA’HAD AL JAMIAH OF STAIN PALANGKA RAYA. ABSTRACT This research is aimed to measure the students’ perception toward english language development program in Ma’had Al Jamiah of STAIN Palangka Raya. The type of study was survey research, the writer used quantitative approach. Data collection used questionnaire. There were four study programs TBI, TBG, ESY, and TFS, and 53 students were as respondent who were given the questionnaire, the sample was taken by using randomly research used cluster sampling. The result of the study shown that: students’ perception toward english language development program in Ma’had Al Jamiah of stain Palangka Raya that students agreed with english language development program in Ma’had Al Jamiah of STAIN Palangka Raya that held for 1 year. Their English have been improved English after joining english language development program in Ma’had Al Jamiah of STAIN Palangka Raya. Giving vocabulary is one of their favorite Program. However English language development by following the program in Ma’had Al Jamiah of STAIN Palangka Raya did not run effectively becouse of student out of the dorms and they prefer stay at kos. 51% of freshmen said that musrif or musifah used English conversation inconsistently. In another musrif or musrifah were not optimal as role model of English english conversetion. Key words: Perception, english language development program.
ABSTRAKSI PERSEPSI MAHASISWA TERHADAP PROGRAM PENGEMBANGAN BAHASA INGGRIS DI MAHAD AL-JAMIAH STAIN PALANGKA RAYA Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur persepsi mahasiswa terhadap pengembangan bahasa inggris di Mahad Al Jamiah STAIN Palangka Raya . Penelitian ini menggunakan survey. Penulis menggunakan pendekatan Kuatitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan random sample dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan intrumen. Ada empat prodi yang mengikuti program bahasa inggris, TBI, TBG,TFS, ESY.dan populasinya 215 dengan mengambil sample nya 53 mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: persepsi mahasiswa terhadap pengembangan bahasa inggris di Mahad AJ-Jamiah STAIN Palangka Raya menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa setuju dengan ada nya program pengembangan bahasa di Mahad selama 1 tahun, mereka merasa mendapatkan perbaikan setelah mengikiuti program pengembangan bahasa Inggris,pemberian kosa kata di pagi hari adalah progam yang menjadi favorit mahasiswa. Tetapi program pengembangan bahasa di Mahad Aljamiah tidak berjalan secara efektif karena banyak mahasiswa yang keluar dari asram yang lebih memlih tinggal di kos. Hanya 51% mahasiswa baru yang mengatakan kalau musrif atau musrifah konsisten dalam menggunakan percakapan bahasa Inggris, dengan kata lain musrifah tidak optimal menjadi model dalam menggunakan percakapan bahasa inggris. Kata kunci: Persepsi, Progam pengembangan bahasa inggris.
