In 1911 and 1912 GVC and Sparta dueled twice (home and return) for the Dutch championship: 07 mei 1911 GVC – Sparta 0-1 (Wageningen) 21 mei 1911 Sparta - GVC 5-1 (Rotterdam) 19 mei 1912 GVC – Sparta 1-3 (Wageningen) 02 juni 1912 Sparta - GVC 5-0 (Rotterdam) In current times, this result of GVC would be good for a preliminary in the Champions league! In 2003 a rematch was organized to celebrate the 100 th of GVC, Sparta won again from GVC, this time with 0-17, with players such as Nascimento and Koevermans. And now, 100 years after the first match, they meet each other again at Sport Centre the Bongerd! GVC-gold likes to show their skills and challenged Sparta legends to replay this championship match. As a GVC or Sparta supporter your very welcome to watch this match! After the match there is the “third half”, including a dinner and a party in the canteen of the Bongerd. Referee and linesmen: Henk van Ettekoven (1937) was referee in the eighties and nineties in the Dutch Eredivisie and he was referee for a few matches in the Europa Cup (the ancestor of the Champions league). He is currently chair of the Working Group Play Rules Soccer of the KNVB. Fried Eimers (1939) is club referee for GVC since 2007 and he was our consul in the period 2007-2009. He is also active as a club referee for WVV Wageningen for many years.
Jeroen Candel (1989) is a new member of GVC since September 2011, before he was KNVB referee in district Utrecht. He plays in GVC4 as a central defender.

GVC Poem By Drunken Students (1911) Wat was 't een drukte hier ter steê, "G. V. C." was kampioen; De burgerij riep luid, hoezee! Nu was 't er nog om te doen Wie wel de bolleboos zou zijn "SPARTA" of "G. V. C." 't werd spannend zelfs voor groot en klein. Maar jammer! 't viel niet mee. De eerst' ontmoeting was al ras Op Wageningsch gebied, Men schopte flink door 't lange gras Maar toch zag men subiet Dat Sparta's spel iets hooger stond, 't Welk een ieder moest erkennen. Men keek dan ook neerslachtig rond Zelfs bij de mooiste rennen. And so on…. The students wrote 52 MORE strophes about a match they lost!!! Not much lines about the match, both huge stories about the boat trip of the GVC supports to Rotterdam (away match).
