Teenlit is a teenager literature. Teenlit novels are most favored by the young age, but did not rule out the adults also can not read Teenlit novels. It is enjoyable to read because in the form of language that is easy to understand. Slang is the kinds of language that is used in Teenlit novels. Teenlit slang helps to describe the abbreviations in the novels. The interesting phenomena as shown by the examples have inspired the writer to further analyze the word formation process of abbreviations of Teenlit Novels. The objective of this study is to find out the Indonesian abbreviations found in Teenlit Novels and to analyze the abbreviations found in the Teenlit Novels. This study used ten Teenlit Novels. The writer listed, analyzed, and then grouped. In analyzing, there are six processes. They are shortening, clipping, acronym, contraction, letter sign, reduplication. The writer used qualitative approach to get detailed information. In this novel, the writer finds some words that include in KBBI. For example, ASI, ATM, UFO. On the other hand, there are some new words that are not included in KBBI. For example, PEDEKATE, Mupeng.

Teenlit adalah kepanjangan dari teenager literature. Novel teenlit merupakan kesukaan dari sebagian besar remaja, tetapi tidak ada peraturan yang menegaskan untuk orang dewasa tidak boleh membacanya. Membaca novel-novel teenlit sangat menyenangkan karena bentuk bahasanya mudah dimengerti. Bahasa slang merupakan jenis bahasa yang digunakan dalam novel ini. Bahasa slang dalam teenlit membantu menjelaskan singkatan-singkatan dalam novel tersebut. Fenomena menarik yang ditunjukkan dengan contoh-contoh telah menginspirasi penulis untuk melakukan analisa lebih lanjut tentang proses pembentukan kata dalam penyingkatan di dalam novel-novel teenlit. Inti dari analisa ini adalah untuk mengetahui singkatan-singkatan dalam Bahasa Indonesia yang ditemukan dalam novel-novel teenlit dan untuk menganalisa singkatan-singkatan tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini, menggunakan sepuluh novel teenlit. Penulis mencatat, menganalisa dan mengelompokkan. Dalam menganalisa ada enam proses. Proses-proses itu adalah pemendekan (shortening), kliping (clipping), akronim (acronym), kontraksi (contraction), symbol (letter sign), pengulangan (reduplication). Penulis menggunakan pendekatan qualitative untuk mendapatkan informasi yang lebih lengkap. Di dalam novel ini, penulis menemukan beberapa kata yang termasuk dalam Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI). Contohnya, ASI, ATM, UFO. Selain itu, ada beberapa kata baru yang tidak termasuk dalam Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI). Contohnya,PEDEKATE, Mupeng.
