ABSTRAK
Di dalam sebuah karya sastra terdapat beberapa elemen penting. Salah satunya karakter. Karakter merupakan pelaku yang memainkan cerita dari karya sastra tersebut yang kemudian ceritanya dapat dipahami oleh pembaca. Di dalam sebuah karya sastra, karakter memiliki macam-macam konflik yang dapat membuat cerita tersebut semakin menarik. Konflik adalah perasaan ataupun masalah yang timbul akibat dari ketidakpuasan hasrat yang ingin dicapai dimana konflik tersebut erat kaitannya dengan ide, kepercayaan, kebiasaan, peraturan, kebutuhan, nilai dan lain-lain. Oleh karena itu, skripsi ini dibuat untuk menganalisis tentang jenis konflik pada karakter utama di dalam sebuah karya sastra yaitu di dalam sebuah novel karya Flora Rheta Schreiber yang berjudul SYBIL, dan karakter utama yang akan dianalisis adalah Sybil dan Dr.Wilbur. Skripsi ini menganalisis tentang jenisjenis konflik yang sesuai dengan teori yang dikemukakan oleh Kurt Lewin, dimana dia membagi konflik menjadi tiga jenis yaitu Approach-approach konflik, Avoidance-avoidance konflik dan Approach-avoidance konflik.
