Acknowledgement Alhamdulillah, all praises to Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala for the strengths, His guidance, and His blessings in completing this thesis. A 4-year PhD is indeed a tough part of life, yet is very wonderful because of many amazing people surrounding. They have made my PhD life more colorful and full of happiness. Thank you for providing me a great opportunity to have a collaboration in high quality research group at the University of Tokyo, Japan. Second, I would like to sincerely acknowledge Prof. Jun Takeya at the University of Tokyo for giving me few years of life and research collaboration in Japan. The place where I have been dreaming of visiting since I was a kid. I really enjoyed living in Japan and learned a lot from the good Japanese culture in life and work activities. Thank you for sharing me your idea and for discussions during the collaboration. All of those as well as your typical Japanese pressure a bit are indeed very helpful to finish this PhD. I would like to acknowledge Prof. Wolfgang Heiss and Dr. Mykhailo Sytnyk for providing quantum dot solutions; Prof. Chen and Prof. Wu for other side projects and fruitful discussions. This thesis would never have been completed without your valuable works and help. A special acknowledgement goes to my both paranymphs: Wytse Talsma and Abdurrahman Ali. Thank you for accepting to be my paranymphs and preparing everything for my defense. Wytse, a funny Dutch friend and a good physicist with additional expertise in farming, we shared everything in the lab and you also had helped me a lot. Please let me know if you have a plan to visit Indonesia. Ali, we come from the same university in Indonesia and now we meet in Groningen.
