• Cellulose-houdende stromen – Volledige omzetting 1.5 à 2 Mton**
• Veel technologische kennis aanwezig in NL – agrotechnologie, koolhydraatchemie, fermentatie, brandstofgebruik
• Veel relevante industrie aanwezig -> Goede ontwikkelingsmogelijkheden voor productie van ethanol, maar implementatie afhankelijk van “incentives” overheid!

cellulose: polymeer van glucose hemi-cellulose: polymeren van xylose en andere suikers lignine: warmte, electriciteit
– materiaal ondergaat chemische en/of enzymatische behandeling om suikers vrij te maken voor fermentatie
