Abstract
Deixis is the single most obvious way in which the relationship between language and context is reflected in the structures of language themselves. Deixis come from Greek language that means “pointing via language”. Deixis is used almost in every conversation or literature, including song’s lyrics. In this time, the writer tries to analyze how many deixis and what kind of deixis are mostly used in Christian Bautista’s song lyrics. Song lyrics and poem are almost the same because basically, a song lyric is the poem that is sung. In this thesis, the writer used Christian Bautista’s song lyrics that rewritten and analyzed every single word. There are six song lyrics that was analysed, i.e. The Way You Look At Me, Color Everywhere, Away From You, I Don’t Want To See You Cry Again, Hands to Heaven and Miracle. After finding the deixis, the writer classified them into three parts: personal, spatial and temporal deixis. For personal deixis it will be separated into three parts; first person, second person and third person. After classifying the deixis, the writer counted the deixis frequencies used in those lyrics. The result of this research shows that personal deixis is mostly used in Christian Bautista’s song lyrics because the theme is love.

Abstrak Deixis adalah sebuah ungkapan untuk menangani ciri-ciri ‘penentuan’ bahasa yang berhubungan dengan waktu dan tempat ujaran. Deixis berasal dari kata Yunani yang berarti ‘menunjuk’ atau ‘menunjukkan’. Deixis digunakan hampir di tiap percakapan atau penulisan karya satra, salah satunya lirik lagu. Kali ini penulis mencoba menganalisa berapa banyak deixis digunakan dan jenis deixis apakah yang paling sering digunakan dalam lirik lagu milik Christian Bautista. Lirik lagu sama dengan puisi karena pada dasarnya lagu adalah puisi yang dinyanyikan. Dalam penulisan skripsi ini, penulis menggunakan teks lirik lagu milik Christian Bautista yang kemudian ditulis kembali dan dianalisa kata demi kata. Ada enam lagu dari Christian Bautista yang akan digunakan dalam skripsi ini, diantaranya The Way You Look At Me, Color Everywhere, Away From You, I Don’t Want To See You Cry Again, Hands to Heaven and Miracle. Jika telah di temukan deixis, penulis akan menggolongkanya mejadi tiga bagian; personal deixis, spatial deixis dan temporal deixis. Untuk personal deixis akan dibagi lagi menjadi tiga bagian; orang pertama, orang kedua dan orang ketiga. Setelah digolongkan menurut jenisnya, penulis menghitung frekuensi penggunaan deixis dalam lirik tersebut.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa personal deixis paling sering digunakan dalam lirik lagu milik Christian Bautista karena tema dari lirik ini adalah cinta.
