Pd Key words: Speech act, illocutionary act, movie. People use language as a means communication. Through language people can express their mind or desire to fulfill their needs. In order to have a good communication we have to understand what our partner says. But sometimes, what they say is not like what we grasp when we first hear their utterances. There are some hidden forces or intention behind the utterances. This hidden force or intention of a saying is called illocutionary acts. We can learn Illocutionary act from many sources for example in a movie script. In a movie script show more of implicit meaning in their conversation. The objectives of this research are as follows (i) To describe varieties of illocutionary function are used by main characters of Toy Story 3 movie. (ii)To describe categories of speech acts are used by main characters of Toy Story 3 movie. This research is Qualitative research. Design of the research used descriptive qualitative research method. The data is illocutionary acts taken from the utterance of Toy Story 3 movie and the data source is Toy Story 3 movie. The result of this research identified 78 illocutionary acts by Woody and Buzz dialogues in Toy Story 3 movie. (i) In this research, there are four varieties of illocutionary function found Toy Story 3 movie. They are 20 utterances of competitive, 12 utterances convivial, 39 utterances of collaborative, and 7 utterances of conflictive. The majority of varieties of illocutionary function are collaborative. (ii) There are four categories of illocutionary acts in Toy Story 3 movie. There are 21 utterances of assertive, 36 utterances of directive, 12 utterances of commissive, and 9 utterances of expressive. The majority categories of illocutionary act are directive. Based on the result of the research above, the teacher should introduce and teach their students about speech acts because it is very important to enrich the student’s knowledge in understanding the speaker’s meaning. The students should give attention to speech acts and try to master it. The writer suggests that, the analysis of speech acts can be more innovative in English Department and Teacher Training Faculty of Muria Kudus University.

Program Studi Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Muria Kudus. Pembimbing: (I) Ahdi Riyono, S.S., M.Hum. (II) Drs. Muh. Syefei, M. Pd. Kata kunci : Tindak Tutur, Illocutionary Acts, Film Manusia menggunakan bahasa sebagai alat komunikasi. Melalui bahasa seseorang dapat mengekspresikan pikiran atau keinginannya untuk memenuhi kebutuhannya. Dalam berkomunikasi yang baik, kita harus mengerti apa yang dikatakan oleh pasangan kita. Tetapi terkadang apa yang mereka katakan tidak seperti apa yang kita pahami ketika mendengar ucapannya. Disana terdapat beberapa gaya dan maksud yang tersembunyi dalam sebuah ucapan. Gaya dan maksud yang tersembunyi dari sebuah ucapan disebut illocutionary acts. Kita dapat mempelajari illocutionary acts dari beberapa sumber contohnya skrip film. Disana terdapat banyak sekali makna yang implicit dalam percakapannya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (i) Untuk mendeskripsikan fungsi illocutionary acts yang digunakan oleh pemeran utama di film Toy Story 3. (ii) Untuk mendeskripsikan kategori illocutionary acts yang digunakan oleh pemeran utama di film Toy Story 3. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Model penelitian ini menggunakan metode diskriptif kualitatif. Datanya adalah illocutionary acts yang diambil dari ucapan yand terdapat dalam film Toy Story 3 dan sumber datanya adalah film Toy Story 3. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat 78 ucapan illocutionary act dari dialog Woody dan Buzz di film Toy Story 3. (i) Dalam penelitian ini, terdapat empat funsi illocutionary acts yang terdapat dalam film Toy Story 3, yaitu 20 ucapan competitive, 12 ucapan convivial, 39 ucapan collaborative, dan 7 ucapan conflictive. Mayoritas dari fungsi illocutionary act adalah collaborative. (ii) Terdapat juga empat kategori illocutionary acts yang terdapat dalam film Toy Story 3, yaitu 21 ucapan assertive, 36 ucapan directive, 12 ucapan commissive, and 9 ucapan expressive. Mayoritas dari kategori illocutionary act adalah directive. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diatas, penulis menyarankan bahwa guru harus mengenalkan dan mengajarkan tindak tutur karena itu sangat penting untuk memperkaya pengetahuan mereka dalam memahami makna seorang penutur. Siswa harus memperhatikan pada tindak tutur dan berusaha untuk menguasainya. Penulis berharap analisis tindak tutur bisa lebih inovatif di Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Muria Kudus.
