• Onderwijsvernieuwing
• Interesting developments in some East Asian countries:
“Separating higher educational institutes in 3 years associate degree colleges versus 4 to 6 year bachelor-master degree institutes and universities. Examples: Vietnam: community colleges vs universities, Indonesia: diploma institutes vs degree institutes and universities). It seems wise to relate these developments to the ongoing post-Bologna developments in Europe and especially to the - in my opinion - out of date traditional two kinds of higher educational institutes in The Netherlands.” ICT-education mismatches, Guido Bakema, internationale IPROF’09 conferentie, Arnhem, 2009
• Professionalisering

Some impressions 2 Principles – Basic principles for our way of thinking and working • Architectural simplicity (“As simple as possible, but not simpler than that” 1) • Metadata as the key concept – All metadata properly stored in repositories and nothing exists outside that (“Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen” 2) – Fully metadata driven generation (“No code at all, except some SQL”) – Show fast, develop stable (“Even one sin now will cause high costs later on!”) • Paperless Project Policy (“All documentation can be (re)generated on demand”)

OLAP reports
Impressions 3 • About 40% of ICT efforts worldwide are closely related to ISD in the data intensive domain – Number of ICT workers and money involved – In the Netherlands probably even more, because successful Dutch multinational system houses
• Universities do not realize this enough – Strong over-emphasis on qualitative complex or popular subjects above quantitative complexity How many AI experts do you need tomorrow? How many multi-media experts do you need tomorrow? How many ISD professionals do you need already today?
• Hidden demand for ISD experts (demand/supply mismatch!) – Holland needs 10000 ISD professionals today! – Comparable situation your country?

Ervaringen – Publicaties, conferenties • • • •
– Cursussen, gastcolleges seminars, • •
• •

1 Nederlander (61 jaar!) 1 Albanees 1 Vietnamees 1 Japanse 2 Indonesiers 4 Chineses
Merk op: 5 mannen, 5 vrouwen!
– Inmiddels meer dan 300 afgestudeerden http://www.han.nl/opleidingen/master/ information-systems-development/
–
Dit cursusjaar (2009-2010) hebben we 27 studenten in deze master-opleiding: •
1 Nederlander, 26 buitenlanders
Kosten en gevolg –
Break-even kostprijs van de 5 HAN master-opleidingen in de faculteit Techniek: tuition fee € 8.000 (25 studenten) tot € 12.000 (12 studenten)
–

Buitenlandse studenten in Nederlandse Hoger Onderwijs – Negatief • • • • •

– Kansen • Nederlandse hoge onderwijs staat internationaal goed bekend.

I come to take diploma”

?

Bandung tea party in ITB Bandung in 2002

Informatica-les in Shkodra University
