THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA The USA consists of 50 states and a federal district (District of Columbia). The USA is bordered by Canada to the north and by Mexico to the south. There are two states which are not directly attached to the
continental US – Alaska and Hawaii
The capital city is WASHINGTON, D. C. It is the third most populated country in the world (over 300 million people) The currency is US dollar = 100 cents The official language is English, but in many areas Spanish is widely spoken. The current president of the US is Barack Obama.
Geography The highest mountain is Mt. McKinley (6,194m) in Alaska. The most important mountains are Cordilleras which are divided into several parts. (further information) Rocky Mountains with Grand Canyon National parks – Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite
