LITERATURE REVIEW In the sport science literature researchers concentrate on different core themes (Coakley 2006): • how former athletes understand and describe the sport-career transition experience; • what kind of system support to help with the sport-career transition; • how to prepare for the sport-career transition; • subjective well-being. The concept of career management defines the individual in a social context. The career models very much differ by individuals, type of sports, genders ()
In building dual career for young athletes among the actors (coach, teachers) parents play the most important role. Fathers give a greater amount of directive behaviour than mothers (Würth et al. 2004). The continuation of sport participation from youth into adulthood is different according to the type of youth sport career (Vanreusel et al. 1997) . 3

PRESENT SITUATION IN HUNGARY In the Hungarian sport system we have to face the following major problems: •To become a top athlete young people need lot of time, energy and financial support. •Only those athletes can achieve higher results, who live in a developed sports area – mainly in big cities (Bánhidi 2000). •In some sports development not all schools and associations can finance the neccesities (bigger stadiums, better equipments, more expensive cooperation with medical assistance, more expensive participation fees (specially on international level). 5

SCHOOL MODELS SUPPORTING SPORT Daily p.e. in schools Hungary the number of obligatory p.e. lessons are 2 or 3 per week. Many communities decided to introduce daily p. e. programs to improve the health parameters of young people. Schools can decide if they have all the conditions for that. The extra costs are covered by the municipalities. Sport classes with frame curriculum From September 2007 special curriculum supports the state’s schools teaching competitive (top) athletes. It calls frame curriculum is prepared for all 13 grades which contains general education plan and the special sport education plan. Sport schools The NSKI started a campaign in 2006 for schools which are willing to start sports curriculum. The institution offer a special curriculum and gives financial support.
