Bijlage B SAMENVATTING ANTWOORDEN Evaluatie formulier: Environmental Questionaire 1. What is your opinion on the content of the questionnaire (sort of questions/themes, amount of questions)? (Open question) Vragenlijst is gedetailleerd, maar is duidelijk. Bij de Ja/ Nee vragen kun je per ongeluk “next” kiezen en zo een gedeelte overslaan. De indicators zijn volgens 1 leverancier overbodig. Energiebehoefte berekening is erg bewerkelijk; added value berekening kost te veel tijd om gegevens te achter halen.

2. Why/ how did you came to that opinion? (Open question) De vragen waren eenvoudig en gemakkelijk in te vullen, maar het zijn wel veel vragen. Vragen waren goed en relevant.

Echter na verloop van tijd schijn je de vragenlijst niet meer te kunnen openen? Goed te gebruiken en in te vullen. Wijze van retourneren file is onduidelijk of aanklikken return file en dan “ok” voldoende is voor retourneren.

4. Why/ how did you came to that opinion? (Open question) Het is gemakkelijk om de vragen te beantwoorden, zeker ook om dat de antwoorden/ keuzes er onder staan. Onduidelijkheid over hoe de file terug te sturen.

Alle nadere vragen waren eenvoudig zelf te beantwoorden. Voor het berekenen added value bij energie behoefte is achter halen behoefte eenvoudig, Echter added value berekenen kost te veel tijd.

12. How much time/effort has it taken to fill out the Questionnaire? (Amount hours) De eerste vragen zijn eenvoudig te beantwoorden (+/- 1,5 uur). De laatste vragen kostte de meeste enkele uren om de benodigde gegevens te vinden.

13. In this effort in your view too much/adequate/ or too little for the subject? Algemeen is de invullingtijdsduur goed, echter de laatste vragen, vragen te veel tijd. Als laatste vragen uit d lijst verwijderd worden, dan goede verhouding tijd t.o.v. verkregen informatie.

14. Do you have concrete recommendations for DAF on the content of the Questionnaire? (Open question) Vraag geen informatie die confidentieel is. Geen informatie vragen van meer dan 1 jaar geleden. Hulpvelden voor berekenen engerieverbruik/ toegevoegde waarde, zodat de berekening eenduidig en eenvoudiger is. Alleen verbruik energie etc opvragen zonder kostprijzen etc. 15. Voorkom het verkeerd kiezen en hierdoor het overslaan van vragen Ziet er professioneel uit, de reden waarom deze vragenlijst ingevuld dient te worden verduidelijken.

One of the passages in the DAF Trucks N.V. vision statement is as follows: “DAF is constantly looking for opportunities to improve its main business processes, with a central focus on customer orientation, quality, efficiency, and environmental performance in these processes and throughout the entire life cycle of the truck.” As the purchasing process at DAF Trucks N.V. is considered to be a key process, the purchasing policy has been expanded to include the aspect Environment. The Supply Management Vision sets out in further detail not only the areas Supply Reliability, Know-how, Competitive Position and Price but also the aspect Quality. Quality: We guarantee that goods and services comply with the order specifications as far as quality and environmental requirements are concerned. In addition, Purchase strives to achieve a continuous improvement process in its production of goods and services as regards quality and environmental performance. The Environmental Questionnaire This new Environmental Questionnaire consists of six sections, which will be used to determine the score for the three main categories:

Organisation and Performance Risk Management ECO design (only to be answered if Product Development is carried out within your company) As you will see, the majority of the questions are presented to you as statements and must be answered by filling in the most applicable answer:

The Environmental Questionnaire You can enter the environmental Questionnaire via the option ‘Vendorrating’ that is available in the left menubar of SupplierNet followed by the option ‘Quality and Environment’. This will show a short menu where you can choose the option ‘Environmental Questionnaire’. Finishing the Questionnaire After you have completed all the questions, the ‘Finish’ button will be activated. Choosing the ‘Finish’ button, will save all the answers as read-only (which means that you can’t make any changes) and will show the Vendor Rating Environmental (VRE) graph. 

If the ‘Finish’ button is not activated, you have missed a question. The question that you missed will be blue, all other questions are black.

Your score will be presented to you in an equal format as for Vendor Rating Logistics (VRL) and Vendor Rating Quality (VRQ), relying on the well known “A”, “B” and “C” rating. It will not be possible that other organisations can see your score, however comparison between suppliers will be made by DAF Trucks N.V. for internal use.

The Vendorrating Environmental (VRE) Overview and Graph The Vendorrating Environmental (VRE) graph (that is shown after completing the questionnaire) is available via the option ‘Vendorrating’ followed by ‘Quality and Environment’. This page will show a short menu where you can choose the option ‘Vendor Rating Environmental (VRE) Overview and Graph’.

After choosing ‘Vendor Rating Environmental (VRE) Overview and Graph’, you get an overview with all your completed questionnaires. o The column ‘Eco D’ shows your environmental performance on Ecodesign; o The column ‘Risk’ shows your environmental performance on Risk Management; o The column ‘Organ’ shows your environmental performance on Organisation & Performance; o The column ‘Score’ shows your overall environmental performance. PLEASE NOTE: If you did not finish your entire questionnaire, your graph will not be available and the ‘Finished date’ will contain the value ‘Not Finished’. This means that you first have to finish your questionnaire.

Vendor Rating Environmental Graph If you choose the option ‘Graph’, you will see your actual performance by means of a graph. PLEASE NOTE: If you did not complete your entire questionnaire (and did not choose the option ‘Finish’ at the end of the questionnaire), you see the graph of the last completed questionnaire. In this graph you can see the historical scores of the last six completed questionnaires divided into ‘Organisation and Performance’, ‘Risk Management’ and ‘Ecodesign’. The status will be determined on the lowest score in one of the subcategories. If you do not develop products according to DAF Trucks baselines, ECO design will not be included.

Chemie Magazine In het Chemie Magazine, pagina 12, van 23-10-2002 is, naar aanleiding van de presentatie tijdens het seminar “Product Stewardship voor Marketeers”, het volgende artikel verschenen

DAF Trucks en het milieu Voor DAF Trucks is het al jaren duidelijk. Alleen maar door minder milieubelastende trucks te ontwikkelen en te produceren, kan het bedrijf iets doen aan de milieuschade die het – indirect - veroorzaakt. Daarom krijgt milieuzorg veel aandacht. Vanaf het inkopen van basismaterialen tot en met het afdanken van trucks. Uit de presentatie van Thorvald Löbel van DAF Trucks Eindhoven, bleek dat steeds meer leveranciers en klanten in de keten hierbij zijn betrokken. De eerste milieuwinst boekt DAF door middel van het Ecodesign Team. Dit team ondersteunt de ontwikkelaars en brengt de technische mogelijkheden om de milieubelasting van trucks te verminderen in kaart. Uiteraard met het bedrijfseconomisch perspectief in het achterhoofd. Verder heeft DAF een SupplierNet opgezet. Dat bevat bijvoorbeeld informatie over de manieren waarop gerecycleerde materialen kunnen worden ingezet. Of prijst het gebruik van lichtere materialen aan. Want als een truck minder weegt, heeft dat uiteraard invloed op het brandstofverbruik. Daarnaast geeft DAF ieder kwartaal een speciaal blad uit: Ecodesign. Dit bevat nieuwtjes over ontwikkelingen binnen het bedrijf op het gebied van milieuzorg. Het nieuwste initiatief is de introductie van de Ecodesign Award: een model van een DAF truck, gemaakt van gerecycleerde blikjes. Die gaat voortaan ieder jaar naar de DAF ontwerper met het beste idee om de milieubelasting van een truck te reduceren. Maar het allerbelangrijkste is toch wel de ontwikkeling van de tool 'Milieugericht inkopen'. Die geeft DAF de mogelijkheid om haarfijn in kaart te brengen welke rol het milieu speelt bij de toeleveranciers. Löbel legt uit hoe deze tool werkt. 'Eigenlijk is het heel eenvoudig. Via het SupplierNet kan de leverancier een vragenlijst downloaden. De vragen hebben onder meer betrekking op het gas-, water- en lichtverbruik, de hoeveelheid afval die vrijkomt, het gebruik van materialen en het productieproces.' Volgens Löbel is het de bedoeling van de vragenlijst om de toeleverancier een spiegel voor te houden, waarmee hij zijn milieuprestaties kan meten en vervolgens verbeteren.

'Wij kunnen op deze manier die prestaties in de gaten houden en waar nodig bijsturen', aldus Löbel. DAF Trucks is op dit moment druk bezig om een database op te zetten waar al deze informatie centraal wordt verzameld. 'En dat kan ons helpen om uiteindelijk het aantal leveranciers terug te brengen.' DAF behoort sinds 1996 tot het vanuit Bellevue (Washington) opererende bedrijf PACCAR. Dit bedrijf is gespecialiseerd in het ontwikkelen en produceren van trucks. Merken als Kenworth, Peterbilt, Foden, Leyland en DAF behoren hiertoe. Het bedrijf heeft vestigingen in Australië, de Verenigde Staten, Canada, Engeland, Nederland en Mexico. Alleen al de DAF Trucks vestiging in Eindhoven heeft 540 leveranciers die samen goed zijn voor meer dan 28 miljoen artikelen per maand. Bron: VNCI (www.vnci.nl)
