Consumer prices decreased by 1.4% in January (Consumer prices, January 2015) In January consumer prices decreased by 1.4% compared to January 2014. During this period significant price decrease was observed in case of motor fuels as well as electricity, gas and other fuels. Beside the decreased prices of food, clothing and footwear and consumer durable goods price rise was observed in case of services as well as alcoholic beverages and tobacco. In January 2015 compared to the previous month consumer prices decreased by 0.2%. In case of food price increase was observed (1.3%). Within the group price rise was observed in case of seasonal food items i.e. potatoes, fresh vegetables, fruits (6.8%), chocolate, cocoa (2.9%), coffee (2.7%), flour (1.5%) and egg (1.4%). In case of sugar and milk prices decreased by 1.6% and 0.4%. The price increase of alcoholic beverages and tobacco was 1.2%, in case of services it was 0.4%. Prices in group of refuse disposal increased by 4.9% mainly due to the growing fees of chimney cleaning. In case of group motorway toll, rent a car and parking the average price rise was 6.3% due to the introduction of regional vignette. The price decrease of clothing and footwear was higher than the average (3.3%). In case of other goods (including household and pharmaceutical products, as well as motor fuels and recreational goods) prices decreased by 3.1%, within group prices of motor fuels decreased by 7.7%. In case of consumer durable goods prices decreased slightly by 0.2%. Prices of electricity, gas and other fuels did not change. In January 2015 compared to January 2014 food prices decreased by 0.7%. In this category price decrease was observed in case of sugar (20.5%), seasonal food items (5.5%), edible oil (5.2%) and flour (3.2%). Price rise was observed in case of egg (4.9%) and meals at restaurants, canteens (2.2%). The price increase of services was 1.7%, in case of alcoholic beverages and tobacco it was 1.2%. Within services prices of transport services grew by 3.3%. Consumers paid 6.7% less for other goods, within group consumers paid 16.5% less for motor fuels. The price decrease of electricity, gas and other fuels was 5.2%. Within group consumers paid 6.5% less for natural gas, 5.7% less for electricity, 3.4% less for purchased heat compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. In case of clothing and footwear prices decreased by 0.7% and prices of consumer durable goods decreased by 0.6%.
