Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Governor of Jakarta
Basuki Tjahaja Purnama-better known by his nickname "Ahok"-was inaugurated as Governor of Jakarta on 19 November 2014. Basuki succeeded former governor Joko Widodo who was elected and sworn in as President of Indonesia on 20 October 2014: Prior to assuming the office, Basuki T. Purnama was a member of Commission II of the House of Representatives from 2009 to 2012 and Regent of East Belitung from 2005 to 2006.. Accountable for the 2012-2017 official term, Basuki T. Purnama continues the execution of massive projects such as mass rapid transit and provision of more public buses on the roads to address the city's enormous traffic problem.s as well as revitalisation of 'rivers and reServoirs to prepare for the imminent flood season. Basuki initiated Jakarta: Smart City program in an effort to establish a more effective and efficient technology-based service for the residents. The program' includes an official website smartcity.jakarta.go.id integrated with Qlue and CROP smartphone applications. Qlue is a crowd-sourcing smartphone application in which users can report various incidents such as flood, crime, fire or waste, and city officials will respond through the CROP smartphone application. Related civil servants and officials nearest to the reported incidents will be detected through their smartphones. and must respond to the report. The program is continuously enhanced since the establishment of Jakarta Smart City Unit under Communication, Informatics, and Public Relations Department of Jakarta Capital City Government: Basuki T. Purnama was honoured as one of the ten figures that change Indonesia by TEMPO magazine in 2006, and was awarded as the anti-corruption figure from government by the Gerakan Tiga Pilar Kernilraan in 2007. Basuki T. Purnama is married and has three children. He holds Bachelor degree in Geology from Trisakti University and Master of Management from Prasetiya Mulya Business School in Jakarta:.
