BAB V PENUTUP
5.1. Kesimpulan Penelitian ini menguji pengaruh dari free cash flow terhadap dividend payout ratio perusahaan yang dilengkapi dengan size, leverage, dan profitability sebagai variabel kontrol. Dalam pengujian hipotesis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan 158 sampel dari perusahaan manufaktur yang membagikan dividen tunai di bursa efek Indonesia dari tahun 2009-2013. Dalam penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa free cash flow berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap dividend payout ratio. Hal ini berarti semakin tinggi free cash flow yang dimiliki perusahaan semakin tinggi pula dividen yang dibagikan oleh perusahaan. Atau dalam arti lain perusahaan dengan free cash flow yang lebih tinggi kemungkinan untuk melakukan pembagian dividen yang lebih besar daripada perusahaan dengan free cash flow yang rendah. Implikasi dari penelitian ini yang berhubungan dengan akuntansi keuangan adalah bahwa sebuah informasi laporan keuangan yang telah diolah seperti free cash flow dapat dipakai oleh investor saham untuk memprediksi arus kas masa depan yang diterima investor dalam bentuk dividend payout ratio. Informasi free cash flow sendiri dapat dihitung dari komponen-komponen dalam laporan keuangan. Sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa tujuan laporan keuangan sesuai dengan PSAK No.1 telah terpenuhi yaitu untuk membantu pengguna laporan

keuangan dalam pembuatan keputusan ekonomi. Dalam hal ini contohnya yaitu investor saham dapat menggunakan informasi free cash flow dalam menentukan saham perusahaan mana yang akan diinvestasikan untuk memperoleh dividend payout ratio yang lebih tinggi.
5.2. Keterbatasan dan Saran Penelitian Selanjutnya Keterbatasan dalam penelitian ini yaitu periode penelitian yang terlalu pendek yaitu hanya melibatkan penelitian dengan 4 tahun pembagian dividen yaitu tahun 2010,2011,2012, dan 2013. Hal ini karena pada tahun 2008 terjadi krisis keuangan global yang mempengaruhi kinerja perusahaan di Indonesia sehingga pembagian dividen tahun 2009 tidak dimasukkan.Oleh sebab itu akan lebih baik jika penelitian selanjutnya memasukkan periode penelitian yang lebih panjang agar hasilnya semakin baik misalnya pada pembagian dividen tahun 2014. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini hanya melibatkan 3 variabel kontrol sehingga koefisien determinasi dalam model ini masih sangat rendah.
Oleh sebab itu akan lebih baik jika
penelitian selanjutnya dapat memasukkanvariabel kontrol lain seperti investment opportunity set (IOS).
