I like to have Tenun Endek because once I saw how to make it, and I like several pattern I can found in stores, because I know that most of Tenun have simple and or “too old for me” pattern that I don‟t like, but if there‟s a good and use bright colors, I like to buy and collect it.
What do you think of Fashion Item? Especially bag? -
I like to use my bag for my main fashion item, so if I use a simple outfit, I can play it with my bag to look different and not too simple. A medium size bag is enough for me to bring all items. I also mix and match my look with any bags that I think it is good to complete my simple look.
I am going to make a modern technique of Tenun Endek with printing and some other details, what do you think of it? -
I think it‟s a good idea you have different idea to make Tenun Endek, even though it will have different technique.

Unique, because they have variety of colors and pattern different from another traditional cloth as I see several cloth in Indonesia use monotone colors.
What do you think of Fashion Item? Especially bag? -
It‟s a must for me because I bring bag all the time because I can keep my phone, wallet and make up. I prefer medium size bag because I can bring all my things and it is also can be my statement item for my look. I like any kind of bag with any material, canvas or leather or any kind as long as it fits my phone and wallet I will use it.

It‟s a good idea because I don‟t see much of brands that use new technique such as modern technique in printing especially on Tenun Endek. I think its also good idea to put up new idea on the market.

It‟s a good traditional cloth, I like to buy Tenun Endek if they have bright colors so it looks modern and simple, because most of Tenun cloth only use brown or red color that looks too traditional.

I have several bags and I like to change my bag every time, because I like to make it look good with my outfit and also so I‟m not bored. I prefer small and medium size bag but it depends on the occasion.

I think its possible to make a new idea of Tenun Endek, because in printing it will look modern and simple, as it doesn‟t have to use traditional process. I think it is also good to have details on the printing, which the pattern doesn‟t look too simple.

Interview with Pak Alit – owner of Tenun craft in Bali (Tenun Pelangi – Desa Sidemen, Bali) Berapa banyak kain yang diproduksi? -
Biasanya satu hari memproduksi 1 meter atau kira-kira 12 meter dalam 5 hari. Tergantung pengerjaan atau pesanan.
Bahan apa yang dipakai? Dan pewarna apa yang digunakan? -
Dari dulu sampai sekarang masih menggunakan bahan/benang katun, bedanya yang sekarang kami produksi sudah memakai benang katun jadi yang dikirim dari India. Kalau dulu masih memakai katun yang langsung diambil dari pohonnya.

Pewarna yang dipakai sekarang sudah pewarna kimia, kami juga dapatkan dari India, pewarna kimia ini ada banyak warna jadi kain semakin variatif dan sekarang sudah susah untuk dapatkan pewarna alami dari kayu atau tumbuhan karena semakin sedikit dan prosesnya lama.
Apakah setiap motif tenun ada cerita atau arti tertentu? -
Tidak ada motif khusus dengan arti atau cerita, karena kalau sekarang sudah modern jadi kebanyakan membuat motif dekoratif saja, kalaupun ada beberapa ada motif bunga-bunga tapi tidak ada cerita khususnya.
Dari mana awal Tenun ini ada di Bali? -
Awalnya dulu tenun bermula di Denpasar, banyak didaerah sana yang produksi tenun, semakin kesini menjadi semakin sedikit dan salah satunya di desa Sidemen ini yang masih banyak pengrajin Tenun dan Songket.
Pengrajin Tenun di workshop pelangi ini asli warga Sidemen atau dari daerah lain? -
Dari dulu pengrajin yang membuat Tenun pasti dari sekitar sini, khususnya warga Sidemen. Dulu bisa ada 100 orang pengrajin yang membantu, tapi semakin kesini semakin sedikit Kebanyakan pengrajin yang sekarang adalah warga Sidemen juga, meskipun jumlahnya tidak sebanyak dulu, tapi mereka sangat giat bisa menyelesaikan kain yang banyak seharinya.
Biasanya Tenun Endek ini dipakai saat apa? -
Dulu Tenun dipakai warga bali untuk beberapa acara penting seperti ngaben, pernikahan, atau beberapa acara adat. Sekarang kebanyakan kain Tenun dipakai untuk sehari-hari tidak hanya untuk acara tertentu.
