Protecting and disseminating our universal values, science, the arts and culture, is a worthy mission and moral duty for every outstandingly successful enterprise. This form of value creation is an integral part of the Hungarian Power Companies’ corporate culture. That is why we have made a long-term commitment to support a key series of Hungarian classical music events, MVM Concerts. This year’s “The Piano” is a true gem of the program. Over the last decade, we supported bringing globally recognized artists to Hungary, many of whom the Hungarian audience has never before had a chance to see performing live, or at least not for a very long time. Alfred Brendel’s last Hungarian performance was 25 years ago, Evgeny Kissin came back after 20 years, while Mitsuko Uchida gave her first ever concert in Hungary. This year’s season of concerts promises to be no less exciting. I am especially proud to present, among the other international stars, a new solo concert by a young Hungarian talent. Gergely Bogányi was among the first winners of the Junior Prima Music Awards, co-founded by the Hungarian Power Companies. I hope that we will have the opportunity to spend many unforgettable evenings together: you, MVM and “The Piano”. Csaba Baji President & CEO Hungarian Power Companies Plc.

Richard Goode 1943-ban született New Yorkban. Mitsuko Uchida mellett Richard Goode a művészeti igazgatója a Marlboro Music School and Festivalnak az Egyesült Államokbeli Vermont államban. Richard Goode was born in 1943 in New York. He started taking piano lessons with Elvira Szigeti
at the age of six and later became a student of Claude Frank. He completed his training at the Mannes College of Music. Among his teachers was also Karl Ulrich Schnabel. He had made a reputation for himself more as a chamber musician, and it was only after the encouragement of respected friends and colleagues (Leonard Bernstein among them) that he left the relative security of playing chamber music and took the decisive step toward a solo career. In spite of turning to solo and concerto performances late in life, he has become one of the most respected recitalists of our time. He has performed in the greatest concert halls including Vienna’s Konzerthaus, Paris’ Cité de la Musique and Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, London’s Barbican Centre and Queen Elizabeth Hall, New York’s Carnegie Hall and 92nd Street Y. Richard Goode has appeared with all the major orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Orchestre de Paris, the Zürich Tonhalle Orchester, the Berlin Radio Symphony, and the Budapest Festival Orchestra. Many of his CDs have been highly recognized, including his second disc of Bach Partitas, which was Gramophone Magazine’s Record of the Month in July 2003. Richard Goode is co-Artistic Director with Mitsuko Uchida of the Marlboro Music School and Festival in Vermont (USA).

Nemzetközi Csajkovszkij Zongoraversenyt. Sikerét koncertkörutak követték a Moszkvai Filharmonikus Zenekarral Olaszországban, Portugáliában és Németországban, majd Európán kívül Észak-Amerikában és a Közel-Keleten. Széles repertoárja (Bachtól Schönbergig), a zene értelmezésének komolysága és eredetisége, előadásmódjának pontossága megragadják mind a közönséget, mind a kritikát, bárhol is játszik.
As early as by the age of five Grigory Sokolov had attracted the attention of the Russian music world through his extra-ordinary and precocious talent. Born in Leningrad, he was educated at a specialist music school and entered the Leningrad Conservatory in 1960. He made his first important public appearance at the age of 12, and in 1966, aged 16, he gained international recognition by winning first prize at the third International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition: a unanimous decision from a jury headed by Emil Gilels. His success was followed by tours with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra to Italy, Portugal and Germany, which led to further appearances throughout Europe, North America and the Far East. Sokolov has given recitals in Vienna (Musikverein), Berlin (Philharmonie), Amsterdam (Concertgebouw), New York (Carnegie Hall), Paris and Tokyo.
