ABSTRAK Kertas karya ini berjudul “The Vanishing Prince of the Karen Rose Smith’s Novel.” Alasan penulis memilih judul tersebut karena penulis tertarik dengan tema yang terdapat pada novel. Adapun tujuan dari penulisan kertas karya ini adalah penulis ingin mendeskripsikan secara jelas tema yang terdapat pada karya Karen Rose Smith yang berjudul The Searching for Her Prince. Dalam mengerjakan kertas karya ini, hal pertama yang penulis lakukan adalah membaca novel “The Searching for Her Prince” secara berulang-ulang untuk menemukan apa tema dari novel tersebut. Dalam penulisan kertas karya ini penulis menggunakan metode kepustakaan, dengan cara mengumpulkan data kemudian mendeskripsikan data tersebut, dengan merujuk kepada buku teori, novel dan internet. Dari deskripsi tersebut penulis memperoleh kesimpulan bahwa di sebuah pulau di pesisir Wales terdapat sebuah kerajaan penwyck yang dipimpin oleh Raja Morgan dan permaisurinya Ratu Marissa. Raja Morgan memiliki kembaran yang bernama Broderick. Dia selalu merasa iri terhadap kedudukan Raja Morgan dan berkomplot menentang kepemimpinan Raja Morgan dengan menukar anak kembar kerajaan dengan anak kembar asal Amerika. Beberapa tahun berlalu, suatu hari Broderick membuat suatu pengakuan bahwa dia telah menukar putra mahkota kerajaan. Ratu Marissa sangat sedih sebab pada waktu yang bersamaan Raja Morgan mengalami sakit yang sangat parah. Kemudian Ratu Marisa memerintahkan kepada Lady nya yang bernama Amira untuk mencari putra mahkota kerajaan yang asli, sebab anak-anak mereka yang asli lah yang seharusnya menggantikan posisi Raja Morgan. Dalam pencariannya Lady Amira mendapatkan informasi dari Cole Everson sebagai kepala Institut Intelijen kerajaan bahwa putra mahkota kerajaan yang asli diduga bernama Marcus Cordello, seorang pengusaha sukses di Chicago. Dan akhirnya, Amira dapat bertemu dengan Marcus Cordello. Tetapi Marcus Cordello belum bisa menggantikan kepemimpinan Raja Morgan karena belum dilakukannya tes DNA untuk membuktikan apakah dia putra mahkota kerajaan yang asli atau tidak.

ABSTRACT This paper has the title “The Vanishing Prince of Karen Rose Smith’s Novel.” The writer chose the title because the writer interested the theme of the novel. The main of the writing this paper was, the writer wished description the theme of the novel “The Searching for Her Prince” clearly. In finish this paper, first step that the writer did is read this novel repeatedly to find what the theme of the novel. In the writing of this paper, the writer used library research by accumulate the data and then description it. With used the theory book, the novel, and internet. From the description, the writer gets conclusion that in the coastal of Wales there is a Penwyck kingdom that leaded by Morgan king and Marissa queen. Morgan king has a twin brother that named Broderick. Broderick always fells envious to Morgan king, and then he conspired to oppose the leadership of Morgan king by change twinning son of Morgan King and Marissa Queen with twinning son from America. Years passed by, One day in a moment Broderick make an admission that he had changed kingdom crown prince. Marissa Queen is very sad because at same time her husband is ill, so she asks her Lady, Amira, to find her twinning son, because their own children who ought to change Morgan’s position as a king in Penwyck Kingdom. Cole Everson is one of member of Penwyck kingdom who gets a duty to assemble accurate information about who is the original crown of Penwyck kingdom. From the long investigation, known that the original crown prince is Marcus Cordello who lives in Chicago and become a success entrepreneur. But Marcus Cordello can not take over Morgan King yet, because DNA test does not did yet.
