The definition of personal letter: Personal letter is a type of letter (or informal composition) that usually concerns personal matters (rather than professional concerns) and is sent from one individual to another. (Richard Nordquist, Ph. D.) 2. Kalimat sederhana Examples: - I have a plan to visit you in the next holiday. 3. The format of personal letter a. Example of personal letter:
b. Explanation: 1. Your address: your street address on the first line and the city, state and zip on the second line. (Not needed if the letter is printed on paper with a letterhead already on it.) 2. Date Put the date on which the letter was written in the format Month Day Year e.g. August 30, 2003. Skip a line between the date and the salutation. 3. Salutation usually starts with Dear, Hi, etc. Note: There is a comma after the end of the salutation (you can use an exclamation point also if there is a need for some emphasis).
4. Body: The body is where you write the content of the letter; the paragraphs should be single spaced with a skipped line between each paragraph. Skip 2 lines between the end of the body and the closing. 5. Closing/ subscription: Let the reader know that you are finished with your letter; usually ends with Sincerely, Sincerely yours, Thank you, and so on. Note that there is a comma after the end of the closing and only the first word in the closing is capitalized. 6. Writer’s name: a part of personal letter where you write down your name in that place. c. An example of personal letter:

Dear Paula, Hello Paula, how are you? It’s been a month since I last heard from you. Well, I just wanted to tell you that I was in a hospital last week. According to the doctor; I was infected by dengue fever. At first, I felt my body became weak then I fainted when I was studying in the classroom. Then, I was taken to the hospital because of the high fever. At the hospital, I was brought into the emergency unit. The doctor immediately gave some treatment. Finally, I had to stay there for one week. Every day the doctor kept me on a drip. At the seventh day, my condition was getting better. After the final check, the doctor gave me permission to go home. Now, I’m okay and because of my illness, I am now more careful about keeping in my house clean especially my room, I don’t want to get the same illness again. OK, I think that’s all from me, write to me soon ok?
