Přerost Head Coach BORN
January 22, 1963, Plzeň, Czechoslovakia
Served as coach on club-competitions level for 17 years before joining the Czech Ice Hockey Association as youth coach in May 2009. Led Czech Under-16 and Under-17 Junior National Teams for two years before becoming head coach of the Under-20 squad for the 2010-11 season. Also worked as coach of the Czech Ballhockey National Team. As ice hockey player, he spent two seasons with the senior team of hometown club in 1980s, but prefered pedagogical studies after suffering serious injury. Worked as coach in Czech minor leagues since 1988, leading teams as Klatovy, Sokolov, Rokycany as well as Gmünd in Austria and Bad Reichenhall in Germany. Operated youth sportclasses program of Plzeň hockey club before joining its elite-league squad as an assistant in 2003. Took surprising playoff run as rookie head coach with the team in 2004, after eliminating regular-season champions Pardubice in quarterfinals and finishing fourth overall with the last-minute advanced squad. Resigned during the 2004-05 season and joined Lillehammer in Norway as men´s team assistant and junior squad head coach for next two years. Returned to youth program in Plzeň in 2007 and won once Czech midget-league championship title. Coach with CIHA since 2009 and showed enough courage while taking over Czech U20 Team and undergo a passage through the „Division of Death“ at the World Junior Championship, while facing medal-contenders Canada, Sweden and Russia in preliminary round of the tournament.

Played 305 NHL games as a defenseman during six-year stint with Detroit and became Stanley Cup Champion with the Red Wings in 2002. Represented the Czech Republic at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and captured gold medal at the 2005 World Championship in Vienna.
The 2011 is his second experience with the World Under-20 Championship. His first World Juniors stint is dated back in 1988, when he managed U.S squad to finish 6th overall.
Jumped over to coaching job as director of player development with the Detroit Red Wings after being forced to finish his career due to health reasons in 2006.
Played college hockey at the University of Wisconsin and served as an assistant coach with Michigan State University and ran the ColHL and ECHL teams as Detroit Falcons, Tallahassee Tiger Sharks and Miami Matadors for nine years as head coach and general manager.
His only experience with big international junior tournament is dated back to his players years, when he participated at the 1997 European Under-18 Championship. He joined the Hull Olympiques in the QMJHL for the next two seasons and was named league´s best defenseman and CHL second all-star in 1999. Drafted by Detroit in first round and 25th overall in 1997. Played with Liberec in the Czech elite league as well as one game with hometown club Beroun in second league during the NHL lockout in 2004-05.
Worked in Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets developmental and training camps as guest coach and led Manchester Storm of the British Super League as head coach/GM in 2000-01. Owner/director of Christensen Hockey Schools for 15 years and coach and director with Oakland Jr. Everblades Midget AAA team, formal affiliation with the Motor City Metal Jackets of the NAHL and only youth program in Detroit area to have ties with Jr. team.
