GREATER GRACE NEMZETKÖZI ÓVODA, ÁLTALÁNOS ISKOLA ÉS GIMNÁZIUM PEDAGÓGIAI PROGRAMJA AZ INTÉZMÉNY ALAPTEVÉKENYSÉGE, FELADATAI A beiratkozott tanulók angol nyelven történő oktatása, nevelése 3 éves kortól 18 éves korig.
A GREATER GRACE NEMZETKÖZI ISKOLA A KÖVETKEZŐKET KÍNÁLJA: Magas szintű tanulmányi és erkölcsi mérce Szeretetteljes, gondoskodó, vidám légkör Magasan képzett nemzetközi tanári kar Alacsony osztálylétszám a hatékony, személyes órai légkör megteremtése érdekében Nemzetközi diákközösség Intenzív EAL (angol nyelvi) program Időtlen értékek: Erkölcs (a helyes viselkedés elveihez való igazodás) Fegyelem (a szabályok betartására való nevelés) Tisztelet (az egyén értékének megbecsülése)
A diákok többsége a saját elvárásain túl teljesít. Tudásukat egységesített amerikai felmérésekkel teszteljük, például a Stanford, OLSAT, PSAT és SAT vizsgákkal, hogy biztosítsuk, ismeretszintük megüti a nemzetközi mércét. Ezen túlmenően a GGIS a Keresztény Iskolák Nemzetközi Szövetségének (ACSI) aktív tagja. Az ACSI a keresztény iskolák minőségének javítására és a kiemelkedő teljesítmény ösztönzésére szolgáló szak- mai szervezet. A GGIS-ből kikerülő diákok készen állnak szembenézni a felsőoktatás kihívásaival.
Szakköreink általában a következők: origami, kézműves foglalkozás, hegedű oktatás, színjátszás, énekkar, iskolai zenekar, sakk klub, foci, röplabda, kosárlabda, balett, zenés gyerektorna, stb.
EAL (ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE) – ANGOL FELZÁRKÓZTATÓ PROGRAM Gyermeke alig vagy egyáltalán nem beszél angolul?
A gyermekek boldog- sága nagyban befolyásolja a család boldogságát.
AP PROGRAM – EMELT SZINTŰ OKTATÁSI PROGRAM Az Advanced Placement Program a továbbtanulásban jelent előnyt.
A továbbtanulni szándékozó diákok felvételi aránya száz százalékos. Diákjaink a következő nagyhírű intézményekbe nyertek felvételt szerte a világon. A részletes pedagógia program a továbbiakban – az iskola természetéből adódóan – angol nyelven található.
Preschool (Ages 3 and 4) After a rigorous licensing process GGIS opened the doors of its new Preschool in September 2011. The modern, bright and colorful facility combined with the professional and loving staff provide the perfect environment for the young, enthusiastic learners. In preschool children build skills and confidence through various artistic activities such as games, songs, movement, art and creative expression. They learn about cause-and-effect relationships and self-expression in an encouraging atmosphere conducive to their individual growth and development. Sharing, cooperating and taking turns teaches them the importance of being a team player. We provide child directed center time for children to explore language, literacy, math, science, art and biblical stories, and they are introduced to basic academic concepts such as letter and number recognition. Lower Elementary Grades Prep-One - 3 The GGIS Lower Elementary curriculum features the ABeka Book Reading Program and the Saxon mathematics program as its core components. ABEKA uses an intensive phonics approach to reading and writing: by the end of first grade, all students can read with comprehension and write with understanding. The Saxon Math curriculum features hands-on activities and rich mathematical conversations that actively engage students in the learning process. A variety of ABeka materials are also used for Bible, Science and Social Studies. The students enjoy special music and arts classes weekly, along with twice-weekly physical education classes. Prep 1 With so many new skills to learn, our kindergarten is a full-day program designed to prepare the young student for a lifetime of learning. Students learn to sit for longer periods than they may be used to, practicing self-control and building listening skills. Grade 1 In first grade, students learn phonetic reading strategies to help aid comprehension, and learn letter-sound associations, word parts, and context to identify new words. They are not only reading simple stories, but also beginning to write them. Reading well is the key to success in all subject areas, and we are committed to providing the very best reading instruction possible. Mathematics instruction uses a kinesthetic approach to shapes, addition, subtraction, graphing,
measuring and much more. Students also begin to explore topics in health, community, science, and history. Grade 2 In the second grade, students become skillful and confident readers and writers. In mathematics, they are developing deeper conceptual understanding, computational fluency, and problemsolving skills and strategies. In science they are exploring God’s world and principles of health, safety and manners. In social studies they study American history and geography, as well as the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, and the Aztecs. Grade 3 It is often said that in grades K, 1 and 2, the focus is on students learning to read, and in grade three the focus shifts to students reading to learn. Vocabulary and comprehension skills continue to be developed in the third grade with more complex reading provided by the content area texts in science and social studies. Students work to master their basic arithmetic facts of addition, subtraction, and multiplication, with the spiral Saxon Math program building the foundational concepts and critical thinking skills required for more advanced mathematics. Upper Elementary Grades 4 to 6 The Upper Elementary curriculum shifts to the Shurley English Program in grade 4. The teaching methods and materials used provide students with strong language and communication skills, with grammar, reading, writing and speaking skills incorporated in every lesson. Students continue to develop computational and problem solving skills with Saxon mathematics. The study of Latin is introduced in grade 5 and continues through to grade 10. Check out the Latin link for more information about this great program. ABeka materials are used for most of the Bible, Science and Social Studies classes, with the introduction of World Studies in Grade 6 setting a strong foundation in geographical literacy for exploring world cultures and history in the upper grades. These students also enjoy two music classes, two art lessons, and two gym classes each week. Grade 4 Students continue to build a strong literacy base using the highly innovative and interactive Shurley English program. While this program works exceptionally well for all our students, students with English as a second language really benefit from the strong connections established between grammar, writing and speaking. Saxon mathematics continues to build numeracy and problem solving abilities: view the scope and sequence for specifics. In Social Studies, students study the European discovery and exploration of North and South America, European pioneer settlements in the new World, British colonies, and the History of the USA. Grade 5 With the grade 5 content area textbooks such as the European history and geography texts becoming a bigger part of the student's daily reading diet, students learn how to read and use non-fiction, informational texts to acquire knowledge- in both guided and independent settings. In addition to this, there is a strong emphasis in our English curriculum in regards to writing.
Students in the fifth grade will be familiar with the steps, both in theory and practice, in writing a research paper. Important study habits and skills are taught and practiced, preparing them for the middle and high school classes. In grade 5 we begin Latin instruction, to both enrich the study of English and History, and to prepare students for the study of additional languages such as French and Spanish. Grade 6 Much is expected from our Grade 6 students, with study skills becoming a critical component of academic success. Reading, writing, speaking and listening skills are practiced extensively, with critical thinking and problem solving activities featured across the curriculum. Middle School Grades 7 and 8 The middle-school years mark a significant transition from elementary school to high school. Personal discipline and organization become increasingly important as students move from class to class. The amount of homework increases, and behavioral and academic expectations are higher. All of our middle school coursework is designed to prepare our students for a collegeprep course load in high school. Students in these grades who have not achieved a very high level of English proficiency will require intensive EAL instruction in order to advance and succeed in high school coursework. Grade 7 These students continue to work with the Shurley English program, with grammar, language skills and writing taught creatively and practiced systematically all year long. Students are expected to complete specific outside reading during the year, including novels such as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Bronze Bow, and Shane. Students benefit from the strong reading and writing support embedded in the World Studies texts, which focus on the history, culture and geography of two distinct regions: Europe and Russia, and Asia and the Pacific. The Saxon Math course (8/7 with Pre-Algebra) features an integrated and distributed instructional plan which helps all students achieve mastery of the standards by building in time to learn, time to process, and time to practice. The grade 7 course focuses on the algebra concept of linear relationships including ideas about proportional relationships. Students learn to understand the relationship of equations to their graphs, as well as to tables and contextual situations for linear functions. In addition, work in algebra extends into simplifying and solving simple expressions and equations. The main concept from geometry in grade seven is similarity of polygons, which also draws on ideas about proportion. Students apply their understanding of ratio in data based situations. Science for grade 7 is a physical science course using ABeka Science: Order and Reality. Students are introduced to the scientific method and encouraged to apply it throughout the course. They are given a fascinating study of soil science, plants, the human body, principles of physical science, atmospheric science, the weather, classification, microscopy, Creation, and insects. Latin instruction intensifies in the 7th grade with the Ecci Romani textbook series: preview these great texts here. In computer class, students practice typing with a goal of reaching 30 words per minute with an accuracy of at least 85%. Students learn the basics of computer hardware, software, data processing and computer applications. Grade 8
The Shurley English continues to provide rich and varied opportunities for students to practice the sort of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and thinking strategies they will need for high school and beyond. Novels read in the 8th grade include such classic titles as Call of the Wild, Treasure Island, and The Hiding Place. Students begin the first of two year-long courses in World History, with grade 8 covering the dawn of civilization through to the Renaissance.
