Key words: English word formation, Tempo English Version Magazine One language development is creating new word by using word formation. According to Katamba (2006: 27) using the term word-form to describe the physical form which realises or represents a word in speech or writing. English word formation means studying the system of language works especially in English language. New word that be formed belongs to study of morphology. It deals with how the English word are formed and structured. Many types of English word formation process used in order to make new English vocabulary. The objectives of this research are to describe kinds of English word formation and to find out the representation of English word formation process types by tree diagram. This study is a content analysis of qualitative research. It is used to find the types of English word formation and representation of types of English word formation in Tempo English version magazine. The result showed that types of English word formation used in data source have different numbers. The numbers of English word formation types are compounding (18), conversion (1), clipping (1), blending (0), clitilization (9), initialism (18), acronym (0), coinage (2), inflection (239), derivation (205), and reduplication (0). English word formation process can be representation by trees diagram chosen based on position of part of speech that used in the text. Four positions of part of speech found in the text are noun, verb, adjective and adverb. Each position has different types to representation by tress diagram. In the text, the writer found noun position as many as 12 types of trees diagram, verb position is 6 types of trees diagram, adjective is 8 types of trees diagram and adverb is 6 types of trees diagram. The writer states the suggestions that are addressed to the students, lecturers and the further researchers. (1) For the students should study about word formation process seriously, because it is easier to understand and develop of English vocabulary. (2) For the English lecturers, they should give understanding about English word formation process. (3) For the Further Researchers, the writer suggest those who want to conduct a similar research as the writer did, you can use this research as previous research finding to sustain their research.

Kata kunci: Pembentukan Kata, Majalah Tempo Versi Inggris Salah satu perkembangan bahasa adalah terciptanya kata baru dengan menggunakan pembentukan kata. Berdasarkan Katamba (2006: 27) penggunakan istilah pembentukan-kata untukk menggambarkan bentuk kerangka yang menciptakan atau menggambarkan sebuah kata di dalam kemampuan berbicara atau penulisan. Pembentukan kata bahasa Inggris berarti pembelajaran susunan bahasa khususnya didalam bahasa Inggris. Kata baru yang di bentuk termasuk termasuk ke pelajaran morfologi. Morfologi adalah hal yang berkenaan dengan pembentukan kata yang dibentuk dan disusun. Jenis-jenis pembentukan kata bahasa Inggris digunakan agar membuat kosa kata baru. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menggambarkan jenis pembentukan kata bahasa Inggris dan untuk menggambarkan pembentukan kata bahasa Inggris melalui pohon diagram didalam majalah Tempo versi Inggris. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian isi dari penelitian kualitatif. Hal ini digunakan untuk menemukan jenis-jenis pembentukan kata bahasa Inggris dan gambaran pembentukan kata bahasa Inggris melalui pohon diagram. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jenis-jenis pembentukan kata yang digunakan didalam sumber data mempunyai perbedaan jumlah. Jumlah pembentukan kata bahasa Inggris adalah pencampuran (18), konversi (1), pemotongan (0), pencampuran (1), singkatan kata bantu (9), singkatan huruf awal (18), akronim (0), penciptaan kata dari nama produk (2), infleksi (239), asal mula kata (205), and pengulangan kata (0). Proses pembentukan kata bahasa Inggris dapat digambarkan melalui pohon diagram dipilih berdasarkan posisi jenis kata yang digunakan dalam teks. Empat posisi jenis kata ditemukan adalah kata benda, kata kerja, kata sifat dan kata keterangan. Setiap posisi mempunyai perbedaan jenis gambaran pohon diagram. Penulis telah menemukan kata benda sebanyak 12, kata kerja 6, kata sifat 8 dan kata keterangan 6 jenis pohon diagram di dalam teks. Kemudian penulis memberikan sarannya kepada pelajar, pembaca dan peneliti selanjutnya: (1) kepada murid seharusnya belajar tentanh pembentukan kata secara serius, karena hal tersebut mempermudah memahami dan mengembangkan ksa kata bahasa Inggris. (2) kepada pembaca, mereka seharusnya meningkatkan pemahaman tentang proses pembentukan kata di berbagai kesempatan. (3) Bagi peneliti selanjutnya, penulis menyarankan untuk mengembangkan penelitiannya, peneliti dapat menggunakan penelitian ini untuk memperkuat penelitian selanjutnya yang sesuai dengan dengan penelitian ini.
