Skripsi. English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muria Kudus University. Advisors: (i) Dra. Sri Endang Kusmayarti, M.Pd. (ii) Fajar Kartika, SS., M.Hum. Key words: Classroom English, Speaking Class, Second Semester. English is not only learned by learners as a subject but it is also used as a mean of teaching and learning process in English classroom. In the English Classroom lecturer and students usually use Classroom English. Classroom English used by the lecturer must be communicative in order the students can understand the materials of teaching they deliver. In the fact, there are still many problems found in the process of teaching and learning of the students of speaking class of second semester of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Muria Kudus University. The problems often come from the students who can not understand the materials of teaching delivered by the lecturer. One of them may be caused by the language the lecturers used in the classroom. The aim of this research are to find out; (i) How is the Classroom English used by the lecturer and the students in the pre-teaching activity in the Speaking classroom of second semester of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Muria Kudus University in the academic year 2010/2011? (ii) How is the Classroom English used by the lecturer and the students in the whilst-teaching activity in the Speaking classroom of second semester of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Muria Kudus University in the academic year 2010/2011? (iii) How is the Classroom English used by the lecturer and the students in the post-teaching activity in the Speaking classroom of second semester of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Muria Kudus University in the academic year 2010/2011? This research is a descriptive qualitative research. Then the data is analyzed by using the model of Classroom English from Glyn Hughes and Josephine Moate (2007). After analyzing the data the writer finds some Classroom English used by the lecturer and the students in Speaking class of second semester students of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty Muria Kudus University in the academic year 2010/2011 in the pre-teaching, whilstteaching, and post-teaching based on the model of Glyn Hughes and Josephine

Moate (2007). Based on the observations, in the pre-teaching the writer did not find the Classroom English of entering the classroom, and meeting a new class. In the whilst-teaching the writer can find all of stages of the Classroom English. And in the post-teaching the writer did not find the Classroom English of setting homework and clearing the class. Based on the observation, the writer could see that the lecturer and the students tend to use the same utterance of Classroom English in the steps of teaching. She didn’t use the Classroom English in variation as mentioned by Glyn Hughes and Josephine Moate (2007). Considering the result of the research, the writer would present some suggestions as follows: (1) For the lecturer can use different utterances of classroom English mentioned by Glyn Hughes and Josephine Moate (2007) to make classroom more attractive and creative so the students can understand the material easily. (2) For the second semester should develop their ability in using classroom English because they are as the candidate of teacher and the writer suggest using the model of classroom English of Glyn Hughes and Josephine Moate (2007). (3) For the next researcher it can be as the reference for the next research which related to classroom English with the different subject.
