Advisors: (i) Rismiyanto, SS, M.Pd., (ii) Dra. Sri Endang Kusmaryati, M.Pd. Key Word: descriptive analysis qualitative method, slang, “The Wolf of Wall Street” movie. People always use slang language in their life to communicate with other. They use this word without understanding more deeply about it because they just follow these words from TV, movie, magazine, song lyrics, social network, and manymore. This study concerns with the descriptive analysis qualitative method of slang terms in the ―The Wolf of Wall Street‖ movie script. This study proposes some problems; the kinds, formations, and literal and figurative meaning. Hopefully, this study will be useful for students of English Education Department, especially to help them understand slang terms used in the ―The Wolf of Wall Street‖ movie script. The writer uses a descriptive analysis qualitative method to classify and analyze the slang terms. After investigating the slang terms in movie script, the writer found several findings on it based on literary works for the writer to strengthen the hypothesis. There are 44 slang terms found in the ―The Wolf of Wall Street‖ movie script and it has been classified and put into table in chapter 4. In the table aer divided in two tables which classified from kinds, types and the word formation of slang terms, there are: blending, clipping, multiple process, affixes, coinage, and compounding. And then, the second table is about classified the 44 slang terms into the literal and figurative meaning. This study shows that there are many aspects of slang terms which can be analyses more deeply to increase our knowledge and new vocabulary. For the future researchers, hoped that slang is more freely to research and become a highly qualified data sources in order to become a learning materials for students who wants to study about language variety and enrich english vocabularies.

Kata Kunci: metode deskriptif kualitatif, slang, film “The Wolf of Wall Street”. Hampir semua orang selalu menggunakan bahasa slang di dalam percakapan mereka sehari-hari. Mereka menggunakan kata-kata tersebut tanpa memahami lebih dalam tentang makna yang sebenarnya karena mereka hanya mengikuti apa yang mereka lihat di televisi, film, majalah, lirik lagu, jaringan sosial, dan banyak lagi lainnya. Skripsi ini berkonsentrasi pada istilah slang di skrip film ―The Wolf of Wall Street‖ dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis kualitatif. Skripsi ini menghasilkan beberapa masalah; jenis, formasi, dan makna literal dan figuratif. Diharapkan, dengan terbentuknya skripsi ini akan menjadikan lebih berguna untuk mahasiswa jurusan pendidikan bahasa Inggris di UMK, terutama untuk menunjang mereka untuk lebih memahami istilah slang di dalam transkrip film ―The Wolf of Wall Street‖. Penulis menggunakan metode analisa deskriptif kualitatif untuk mengklasifikasikan dan menganalisa istilah slang tersebut. Setelah menyelidiki istilah slang di dalam transkrip film tersebut, penulis menemukan beberapa temuan berdasarkan pada karya ilmiah dan acuan terpercaya untuk memperkuat penelitian skripsi tersebut. Ada 44 istilah slang yang ditemukan di dalam skrip film ―The Wolf of Wall Street‖ dan di kelompokkan di dalam tabel di Bab 4. Setelah diformasikan sebagai: blending, clipping, multiple process, affixes, coinage, and compounding. Dan kemudian di masukkan pada tabel ke 2 digunakan untuk mengklasifikan 44 istilah slang tersebut dan selanjutnya untuk mengetahui makna literal dan figuratif dari istilah slang tersebut. Sebagai hasil, skripsi ini menunjukkan bahwa ada beberapa aspek dari istilah slang yang dapat di analisa lebih mendalam untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kita dan untuk menambahkan kosakata bahasa Inggris yang baru. Bagi peneliti selanjutnya, penulis mengharapkan untuk lebih lebih bebas lagi dalam mengeksplorasi slang dan sebagai data yang sangat kualitatif dan sebagai sarana dan material pembelajaran bagi pelajar atau mahasiswa yang ingin belajar tentang variasi bahasa inggris dan untuk memperkaya kosakata bahasa Inggris.
