It is always hot and wet in a tropical rain forest. Tropical rain forests are home to an amazing number of plants and animals. A patch of tropical rain forest no bigger than a school parking lot can have almost as many different species (kinds) of trees as there are in all the forests of Canada and the United States! Gellert There was a prince; his name was Llewellyn. His uncle, King John, gave him a dog, a hunting dog. The dog’s name was Gellert. Gellert was a fine hunting dog. When he left the castle, he could smell a deer one kilometer away. He could run faster than a deer. He was so strong that he could knock a deer over. He was a fine hunting dog. One day, Prince Llewellyn went hunting with his friends. He called all his dogs. But Gellert wouldn’t go. Gellert stood in the doorway of the castle and wagged his tail and put his head on one side, but he would not leave the castle. Llewellyn was angry! He shouted, ’Come on, Gellert come here!’ but Gellert wouldn’t leave the castle. So Llewellyn and his friends went hunting with the other dogs. Llewellyn and his friends caught nothing. When they came back to the castle they were angry. As they came to the castle Gellert bounded out towards them, wagging his tail. As he came closer, Llewellyn saw there was blood on Gellert’s face sides. ‘How could that be?’ Llewellyn thought. ‘Gellert sometimes plays with my child. Gellert is half wolf, half wild. Perhaps he has killed my child!’ and Llewellyn ran into the castle. He ran to the child’s room. All the furniture was turned over. There was blood everywhere. Llewellyn couldn’t see his child. Prince Llewellyn took his sword and drove it into the side of Gellert. With the last gasp for life of Gellert, Llewellyn heard the cry of his child from beneath the overturned cot. Llewellyn ran to the cot, turned it over, and there was the child, perfectly safe, perfectly well, but behind the cot was a dead wolf. Llewellyn was very sad. What could he do? He couldn’t bring Gellert back to life! He dug a hole for Gellert outside the castle. He put Gellert in the hole and covered him with stones, a great pile of stones. He put a plaque on the stones. ‘To Gellert, a faithful dog’’

The text is for questions 19 to 22. Badminton Badminton is a racquet sport played by either two opposing players (singles) or two opposing pairs (doubles), who take positions on opposite halves of a rectangular court that is divided by a net. Players score points by striking a shuttlecock with their racquet so that it passes over the net and lands in their opponents’ half of the court. A rally ends once the shuttlecock has struck the ground, and each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Since 1992, badminton has been an Olympic sport with five events: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, in which each pair consists of a man and a woman. At high levels of play, the sport demands excellent fitness: players require aerobic stamina, agility, strength, speed and precision. It is also a technical sport, requiring good motor coordination and the development of sophisticated racquet movements. Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/badminton

Comet
A comet is a small solar system body bigger than a meteoroid that, when close enough to the Sun, exhibits a visible coma (fuzzy “atmosphere”), and sometimes a tail, both because of the effects of solar radiation upon the comet’s nucleus. Comet nuclei are themselves loose collections of ice, dust and small rocky particles, ranging from a few hundred meters to tens of kilometers across.
[email protected]
Comets have a variety of different orbital periods, ranging from a few years, to hundreds of thousands of years, while some are believed to pass only once through the inner Solar System before being thrown out into interstellar space. Short-period comets are thought to originate in the Kuiper Belt, or associated scattered disc, which lie beyond the orbit of Neptune. Long-period comets are believed to originate in the Oort cloud, consisting of debris left over from the condensation of the solar nebula, located well beyond the Kuiper Belt. Comets are thrown from these outer reaches of the Solar System towards the Sun by gravitational perturbations from the outer planets (in the case of Kuiper Belt objects) or nearby stars (in the case of Oort Cloud objects), or as a result of collisions between objects within these regions. (Modified from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comet) 28. The following statements are TRUE, except ….
