1.2 Riwayat Hidup Singkat Armein Z. R. Langi di lahirkan di Tomohon, Minahasa, pada tanggal 17 Agustus 1962. Setelah menamatkan SMA pada tahun 1981, Armein Z. R. Langi diterima sebagai mahasiswa ITB pada program studi Teknik Elektro, dan lulus tahun 1987. Ia kemudian menjadi dosen di Laboratorium Sinyal dan Sistem, Departemen Teknik Elektro ITB pada tahun yang sama, dan menjadi peneliti di Pusat Antar Universitas Mikroelektronika (PAU-ME) pada tahun 1989. Oleh PAU-ME, ia dikirim ke University of Manitoba Canada untuk menempuh pendidikan S2 (1990-1992), dan kembali ke ITB. Kemudian, berbekal beasiswa University of Manitoba dan PT INTI, ia melanjutkan studi S3 1993-1996 pada universitas tersebut. Sekembalinya dari Canada, ia menjadi peneliti di PAU-ME dan staf dosen di Departemen Teknik Elektro ITB (sekarang Sekolah Teknik Elektro dan Informatika, STEI). Riwayat Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat Minat topik riset diawali tahun 1985 dengan desain embedded system berbasis prosesor mikro Z80, yang dilanjutkan dengan sistem akusisi data berbasis IBM-XT di tahun 1987. Minat riset berkembang menuju sistem pemrosesan sinyal digital (DSP) pada tahun 1988 menggunakan prosesor DSP TMS320C25. Pada tahun 1990, riset dilanjutkan dengan desain hardware FPGA serta algoritma pemampatan ucapan LPC dan CELP. Sebuah sistem waktu-nyata CELP diimplementasikan pada TMS320C30. Minat berkembang menjadi pemampatan sinyal multimedia (ucapan, citra, dan video) serta pemrosesan sinyal menggunakan transformasi Fourier, wavelets, serta multifractals. Di tahun 1994 paper mengenai wavelet terpilih sebagai paper terbaik untuk diterbitkan IEEE Technology Series. Pada tahun 1996 menulis disertasi mengenai multifractal prrocessing pada sinyal non stasioner. Saat ini minat riset yang ditekuni adalah pengembangan smart engineering menggunakan teknologi informasi dari sistem pemrosesan sinyal.

3 Riwayat Riset 3.1 Pendahuluan Riwayat pekerjaan, terutama aspek akademis, riset dan pengabdian masyarakat dapat disampaikan dalam empat bagian besar: 1. Digital Signal Processing System 2. 3.2 Sistem Digital Signal Processing 1. Diskdrive Controller Untuk Z80, CP/M dan IMSAI Microcomputer. Riset ini mendesain sistem digital menggunakan prosesor Z80. Dalam riset ini dikembangkan program dan sistem prosesor Z80 yang memungkinkan prosesor Z-80 mengendalikan IBM-PC diskdrive 5.25”. Program dibuat pada board MPF. Kontroler menggunakan chip dari western digital. Riset ini mendesain sistem digital floppy drive controller pada bus S100 untuk digunakan pada operating system CP/M pada komputer mikro IMSAI. Sistem ini memungkinkan komputer IMSAI menggunakan IBM-PC diskdrive 5.25”. Kontroler menggunakan chip dari western digital. Waktu/Tempat: Riset ini dilakukan tahun 1986-1987 di Laboratorium Telematika ITB , sebagai bagian dari studi S1 di bawa bimbingan Ir. Martin Samudera. 2. Data Acquisition System. Deskripsi:Merancang sistem akuisisi data menggunakan PC dan board Data Translations. Waktu dan Tempat: Riset dilakukan di PAU Mikroelektronika ITB pada tahun 1988-1989 dibawah bimingan Dr Richard Mengko, dengan dana WB XVII. 3. Digital Signal Processing Dengan TMS320C25. Topik: merancang dan membuat filter digital menggunakan prosesor DSP TMS320C25. Waktu: 1989. Lokasi: PAU Mikroelektronika ITB PI/Advisor: Richard Mengko. Catatan: Proyek WB XVII Funding: WB XVII. 4. XILINX FPGA Synchronous Timing Logic Unit. Deskripsi: Merancang sistem penyelaras timing untuk sistem pemrosesan sinyal ucapan TMS32010. Unit ini dikembangkan menggnakan hardware description language (HDL) dan diterapkan pada XILINX FPGA. Waktu dan Tempat: Riset dilakukan di University of Manitoba, Canada pada tahuan 1990 dengan bimbingan Prof. Witold Kinsner, dan dana WBXVII. 5. DSP Real Time Implementation of Speech Processing. Deskripsi: Riset ini mengembangkan sistem DSP waktu nyata menggunakan prosesor TMS320C30 dari Texas Instruments untuk mengimplementasikan Code Excited Linear Prediction (CELP) code. Waktu dan Tempat: Riset ini dilakukan tahun 1990-1992 di University of Manitoba, Canada, sebagai bagian dari studi S2, kemudian di lanjutkan di ITB.
