Press Release - September 22, 2011-
Largest Indonesian-German Event Series JERIN – Jerman dan Indonesia set to start in October 2011 (Thursday, September 22 2011) Starting in October 2011, in more than 12 cities, JERIN will take place: “Jerman dan Indonesia”. With over 60 events until February 2012, JERIN aims to present a platform for highlighting German-Indonesian cooperation. Under a joint logo and the motto “Creativity through Diversity”, JERIN will illustrate the successful partnership between Indonesia and Germany. The envisaged projects consist of conferences and roundtables on economic topics, cultural events and exhibitions about science and the Indonesian German development cooperation as well as political dialogues. The overarching topic of JERIN “New Energies for the Future” reflects the vibrance of both societies to give inspiration and new impulses for the long-term future of this partnership. Germany’s Ambassador Dr. Nobert Baas during the Press Conference: “Germany and Indonesia share important common values. Our partnership is already substantive and it is promising. I believe we are ideal partners. German investment in Indonesia is clearly on the rise and we welcome Indonesian investment in Germany. Economic complementarity will be beneficial and act as a natural stimulus. Let me add that the European-Indonesian partnership is now setting an agenda in trade policies and other global issues including climate change. There are many reasons why Germany and Indonesia should look more into the future and identify areas of closer bilateral cooperation. Our companies are ready for that and our cultural scene in Germany is curious to explore Indonesia’s inspiring cultural landscape.” The event series is of a unique character as it brings together Indonesian and German partners from business and development cooperation, culture, science as well as education. Highlights will be the opening gala concerts in Surabaya and Jakarta on the 2nd and 3rd October respectively, the largest exhibition on the Indonesian painter Raden Saleh as well as a series of Indonesian-German business events and travelling events throughout Indonesia such as exhibitions on development cooperation, a science film festival and an exhibition on German science and technology policy. The event series can be followed via its website www.jerin.or.id and via social media channels. JERIN is an event series supported by the German Government. The German Embassy Jakarta, the Goethe Institut Jakarta as well as EKONID, the Indonesian German Chamber of Commerce, initiated JERIN together with many German company partners and Indonesian support.
