Ekspor Indonesia sebagian besar berupa bahan mentah atau barang setengah jadi: Nilai ekspor empat komoditas tambang (bijih tembaga, batubara, bijih nikel dan bauksit) mencapai 16.7%
dari total (2009). Ekspor minyak sawit dan karet alam hampir 13% dari total ekspor (2009) Share ekspor seluruh komoditas mendekati 30% (2009). Indonesia adalah eksportir CPO dan batubara terbesar di dunia, dan eksportir penting berbagai bahan

Kinerja Industri Gula dapat ditingkatkan untuk mengurangi ketergantungan pada gula impor dan meningkatkan pendapatan petani. Industri gula sudah lama berkembang, tetapi semakin lama tidak bertambah baik, malah bertambah buruk. Lebih 1/3 kebutuhan gula dipenuhi melalui impor.
