Beberapa Aspek Biologi Kancil Djalal Rosyidi Fakultas Peternakan, Universitas Brawijaya, Malang Abstrak Diterima tanggal 5 September 2005 Disetujui tanggal 16Mei 2006 Kancil merupakan salah satu satwa asli Indonesia yang saat ini statusnya termasuk hewan langka. Kancil belum banyak diteliti secara intensif untuk tujuan penelitian, oleh karena itu masih sedikit informasi yang diperoleh terutama dari aspek biologinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti beberapa aspek biologi kancil. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksplorasi. Enam belas ekor kancil dewasayang dikandangkan diteliti tentang morfometri, pakan dan kesukaan pakan, perilaku, reproduksi, profil darah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ukuran tubuh kancil jantan lebih kecil dibandingkan betina, konsumsi pakan (BK) ubi {Ipomoea batatas), kondang (Ficus variegata), kangkung (Ipomea aquatica), terong {Solarium melongena), wortel (Daucus carota), dan timun (Cucumis sativus) masing-masing 38.80,10.37,3.08,2.91,1.05, dan 0.39 g/hr. Perilaku eliminasi kancil selalu dilakukan pada tempatyang sama, lama bunting 137-155 hari, dengan berat Iahir 180-220 g atau 8.86-10.46 % dari berat badan, umur sapih 60-67 hari dengan bobot sapih 750 g dan anak kancil mulai menyusu ke induk 48 jam setelah dilahirkan. Kancil cenderung memiliki sifat monogami. Profil sel darah merah sangat kecil dibandingkan dengan hewan lain. Total eritrosit, hemoglobin, dan leukosit masing-masing 32.5-166.4 juta/mm3,13.0-13.2 g/100 ml, 41.5-42.0%, dan 3.8-15.45 ribu/mm3. Biological Aspects of Lesser Mouse Deer Abstract The lesser mouse deer is a native and wild animal categorized as endangered species in Indonesia. The animal has not yet explorated intensively for research purpose and therefore, there is still limited information particularly on the biological aspects. This research was aimed to explore the some biological aspects of lesser mouse deer. This research was conducted using explorative method. Eighteen mature lesser mouse deers in captivity were used and measured on morphometry, feeding and food preference, behaviour, reproduction, and blood profile. The results, showed that lesser mouse deer male was smaller then female. Feed consumption (dry matter) of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas), kondang (Ficus variegata), kangkong (Ipomea aquatica), egg plant (Solarium melongena), carrot (Daucus carota), and cucumber (Cucumis sativus) were 38.80,10.37,3.08,2.91,1.05, and 0.39 g/d, respectively. The eliminative behaviour always in the same place, and male more active and always near female, gestation length was 137 to 155 days, with usually a single birth weight around 180-220 g or 8.86-10.46 percent of body weight, age at weanning 6070 days weight 750 g, and fawn could milking 48 hours after birth. Lesser mouse deer tend to form monogamous family groups. The size of red bhod cell profile was very small compare the other animals. The total erythrocyte, hemoglobin, hematocrite, and leucocytes was 32.5-166.4 mil/mm3,13.0-13.2 g/100 ml, 41.5-42.0 %, and 3.8-15.45 thousand/mm3, respectively.
