Cooperative learning methods is the learning style that is designed to academic skills , social skills including interpersonal skills. With cooperative learning methods that later students not only learn from teachers but students also learn from his friend. The basic elements of cooperative learning method of learning is a participant in the group, the rules of the group, the effort to learn the group, the goals to be achieved. If the the elements is already equipped the learning of cooperative learning methods can be implemented. While the procedure of cooperative learning method is the explanation of learning materials, learning in groups, assessment, recognition of the team. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cooperative learning methods to the study of learning English and how understanding English material after the implementation of cooperative learning methods . This research is action research . Because the study was conducted to solve the problem of learning in the classroom. In this action research using a form of teacher as researcher, responsible person of the study were teachers. The main purpose of this action research is to improve learning outcomes in the classroom In this study the researchers did not cooperate with anyone, the presence of the researcher as a teacher in the classroom as a tenured and done as usual, so that students do not know if investigated. In this way the data obtained is expected to be as objective as possible for the validity of the data needed. From the data analysis has been carried out showing good response from students. And the results obtained are quite good. Of the 17 students 15 students of which have high value category (75-100) and two students got the rest of the medium category (50-74).
