From an unshot movie for cimbalom and piano 2008
Onen nenato"en# film má název Berani a autorem nám$tu i scéná!e je m%j p!ítel Jan Míka ml., zárove& potenciální re'isér tohoto snímku. Záv$r do ur"ité míry op$t vyu'ívá postupu z úvodu skladby. *** The unshot movie is titled Berani and its author as well as an author of the script is my friend Jan Míka junior, also potential director of that movie. In 2006 I composed a melody, inspired by the script's modest, melancholy and pastoral mood, which was to serve as a main musical theme of the movie. That melody has just become a starting point for my piece. First, the melody's tones create a harmonic surface, disturbed by another, random tones and various noises always in the other instrument, that are produced by playing the instrument's body or strings. Then, in a low register of each of the instrument in turn, a scale rising appears, typical of the bass in the melody's accompaniment. This ends in the melody itself, free of its original rhythm as well as a richer accompaniment. The end of the piece in a measure reuses the method of the piece's beginning. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Duration ca. 7 ' ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2nd Prize – International Cimbalom Festival Competition 2008 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ http://www.jirikaderabek.com
